How high is your ceiling over the peninsula?

We have peninsulas in our main kitchen and the lower level galley kitchen. Both rooms have 9' ceilings. Both peninsulas are 10' long and each has an upper cabinet over the wall end of the peninsula. We have 3 pendants (5-1/2" diameter) spaced 2' apart (center to center) over each. The pendants in the upstairs kitchen look fine, mainly because there is a 3' wide, 12" high soffit that goes wall to wall over the peninsula to separate the kitchen from the large eating area, which also lowers the pendants one foot. In the lower level, I wish I'd gotten pendants that were somewhat (1-2" ?) larger, because without the soffit to enclose the space more, they seem a little puny. They all take 100w bulbs.

OK, so if you have a 10' long peninsula with 3 5-1/2" pendants spaced at 2' apart then I should certainly be fine with an 8' peninsula with 3 5" pendants spaced 2' apart, too, right?? I will also have upper cabs at the wall end of the peninsula.....

Seems to me like the size should be fine! But check the spacing--our extra 2' of peninsula length might make a difference. You may want yours a little closer together. Depends on where the sink is in the peninsula, what you're looking at across the peninsula in the other room, what's on the other side of the open end of the peninsula, etc.
