Dotmom, I am so sorry your husband is in the hospital. I can only imagine how tired you must be, also. I hope he is resting comfortably and will be able to be home soon. Please keep us posted.

Thanks, KT gang, no there wasn't a post, because I really don't know what is wrong. He has COPD and is 81. Saturday he had been having trouble clearing his airway which made breathing difficult. I called the ambulance about 2:30 in the aft. noon, he and I got to the hosp abt 3:00 or so (I followed in the car) He was laying on the gurney with oxygen and seemed to be better and they were going to send him home, but about 5;30 he went to the restroom and almost passed out being off the oxygen for just a couple minutes. They decided to give him anti-biotics and steroids, by IV, and said it would take 2 hrs for them to run in, but they figured he would go home, so I went home to get his wintergear and talked to a couple neighbors about helping me get him up to the APT. We live in a second sory APT...no elevator. I use either a cane or walker, so I needed help with him. I got back to the Hosp about 7:30, he was done with the IV but they wanted to see how he was he was coping, We sat there and waited, and waited, To be fair, the ER was so busy. It was after 9:00 when I was getting panicky and told the Med people about the problem getting Al upstairs. After another hour, they decided to admit him, for at least overnight. Yesterday i went in and when a therapist tried walking him, his oxygen level dropped quite a bit, and he was still getting oxygen, so they decided to keep him another day, because they don't know exactly why. I;ll be going in this morning to see whats up. So I really don't know what to say about whats wrong. Thanks for the kind words and thoughts.

Oh Dottie I can imagine your mind is just spinning! Thanks for the info. Try to update if you can but you have better things to do right now. Know that my thoughts are with you both and wishing the best for a speedy and smooth recovery.

dot.. my pal in south bend dh has been going thru the same with his copd, only now they're checking with bi-op'ed tissue, to see what he might have...he's home, but with the temps he's really afraid to get out at all...

Hoped they've figured out what's wrong. Poor guy! And poor (((Dottie))). Would it be possible for you to switch to a first floor apartment? That would be a big worry of getting up and down with him.

I was thinking the same thing as Patti43. Could you move to a ground floor unit?

I just got home and he is doing better, breathing-wise, but he will be moved to morrow to Transitional Care for a few days to a couple weeks to get him string enough to make it up the stairs.
As for moving, we have our names in almost every APT in the area, for a first floor or one with an elevator. I have a call into our building manager, because there are two-two bedroom Apts downstairs, and the fellow in one of them lost his wife over a year ago, and I'm going to ask the manager if we can get our dibs in, if he moves. We like it here and our neighbors, so that would be super if we could just move down there.
Thanks again, for the good thoughts and prayers. I'll go back tomorrow morning to be there when the Dr comes in and be there for the move, so I'll know where to find him.

Prayers for you so sorry you are going through this .I do understand my DH has lung prob. also.

Hope he continues to heal. Sorry he is feeling so poorly. I will agree that you really need to live on the first floor. But moving is a lot of stress and strain, too.
