One Photo I didn't get

I got an email from the Allman Brothers manager. he said that the estate thinks my book is "distasteful" and declined my photo request. They came to this decision without knowing what I was writing about.

I wrote him back saying that I respect their decision but added exactly what my book is about. The facts only and that it is more about remembering the artists and the music they created. I also told him that it contains no fluff, scandals or anything embarrassing to the family. I also tell the families that I will send them the bio for their final approval.

Who knows..maybe if they know what I have written they will change their mind. If not...oh well....can't get them all.

I wouldn't bother, actually. They didn't know what your book was about and said it was distasteful? Hmmmmmmm Not too bright.......

Walleye is what Minnesota is known for! If I remember right DD said they put one back and ate the other, but don't quote me on that. Correction: That is not the biggest fish ever caught up there ----- It is the biggest ever caught up there by their family. Any way, I only know of fish from the frozen foods dept at the local grocery. DSIL was pretty proud of her catch.

@nucleartumbleweed... Congrats on the new Electrolux's (I have the older 70 WaveTouch series) you should enjoy your machines very much. What I do when I'm done using mine is wipe down the door glass, boot (the rubber seal between the door and the drum), take out the detergent drawer and shake it dry. Leave the door open and the detergent drawer open or leave it out (on top of the machine) to dry out until next use or for 24/48 hours. Use hot for your whites and you can do a Sanitize wash every once in a while to help kill bacteria not only in your clothes but in the machine also (use Sanitary for whites). Warm is now the new Cold. Temps in today efficient machines have been turned (dumbed) down. Warm is now in the 70-80 degree range (not in the 90/100's like they used to be). Use cold infrequently for dark specialty items that are super delicate...but most of today's colorfast times can withstand warm. Do the Clean Cycle when the machine promps you (Electrolux is every 50 washes), with a cup of bleach. Remember scented bleach or splashless bleach is not a disinfectant. Only traditional good old bleach is labeled to kill 99.9% of household germs. You can use "pods" but DO NOT put them in the detergent drawer. They go directly into the drum with the clothes. The same with scent beads, pods or scent crystals. Most of us separate our whites from our colors. If you want dazzling whites, wash them together with no color items. You don't need all the stuff we post here in pictures or talk about. We just get carried away here and simply must have our stash of new and improved or just discussed items. Ask if have more questions, there are a bunch of great people here that would be happy to assist you.

SamKaren, I'm sorry, but I've forgotten the details of your book and what it's about. I saw the post recently about all of the pictures you might be getting, but I wonder if you would remind me about the book. Sounds like it'll be interesting!

Considering the lives the Allman Brothers lived, I
can understand their Manager thinking about "things"
you would be writing about.

Aren't you just writing about the dead ones? The ones
that died in the motorcycle accidents? Are you
mentioning their lifestyles? If you are, I don't think
the manager was far off base - and maybe afraid you
were going to write about the others too.

I am writing about the artists who have passed away between 1959 to 2009. This is a sample of what I have for Mr. Allman
Born November 20, 1946 Ã¯Â¿Â½ Died October 29, 1971. As the guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band, Duane is best remembered for their hit albums The Allman Brothers Band, Idlewild South and At Filmore East. Duane was not only an accomplished session musician but was ranked #2 out of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. Mr. Allman died from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident at the age of 24.

The bios are brief and to the pointÃ¯Â¿Â½.no fluff Ã¯Â¿Â½ no scandals and nothing that would embarrass the family.
Hardly what I would call "distasteful" but they are only going by the "subject" of my book. Their loss!
The thing about my book is you will either remember the photo of the artist, the name, the group or the song. For instanceÃ¯Â¿Â½.ever heard of the artist Wells Kelly? Probably not but IÃ¯Â¿Â½ll bet you remember his group "Orleans" and the song "Still the One".

Just curious - how are you handling the sources? I imagine a book of facts will need a ton, like Wikipedia!

I do have one comment though. You are giving a lot of detail and excerpts about your book so it's probably not a good idea to insult the people you're trying to solicit information from in a public forum. And yes, supporting and agreeing with insults is just as bad as saying them yourself. I certainly wouldn't give you a picture if I found this thread and it would actually be very easy for the manager to do so if he wanted to do a little research. Just some friendly advice.
