Yes, I miss it. I don't use my soap dispenser, so I am going to put one there.

I've looked into the bridge faucet and side spray issue myself and here's what I've found:

Some bridge faucets (Perrin & Rowe?) with a side spray, are hooked up to only one water line (cold line) under the sink (at least thats what the diagram looks like). I also saw a magazine photograph of a Rohl bridge faucet, and a separate side spray with its own single lever control (4 holes total). At first I thought it might be hard getting used to turning on a separate lever, but then I realized you wouldn't be spraying any water until you also pressed the button on the sprayer. So that might be an option.

I'm pretty sure the bridge faucets with 3 legs work just like a regular deck mounted faucet and therefore could have a side spray connected after the mixer valve.

I did call Rohl in So.Cal. and was told they intend to come out with a bridge faucet and side spray, but it wouldn't be for a year or so. I imagine it would be similar to the Perrin & Rowe, above.

I haven't had a side spray for 30 yrs, but I did have a swivel spray-stream attachment that replaced the aerator that came with the faucet. It looked ugly but at least it swiveled. Want something better in the new kitchen, but haven't decided what.

Plan to have a Tapmaster so that should prevent a lot of water drips around the faucet/counter top area.

We don't have a side spray with our Chicago Faucet but it does have an articulated arm that can reach almost anywhere in the sink. With a conventional arm I probably would find myself missing a side spray.

I am without a side spray for the first time in about a decade. On the one hand, I do miss it. But the aesthetics of my sink and faucet were more important to me than the spray. So I frequently use a sponge to swish things down the drain. My hands have taken over the job of the side spray. Not such a big deal. The sink, faucet, and backsplash (I have a wall mounted faucet) will look pretty, and that was my main concern!

I would miss my side spray. I was also wanting a bridge faucet with a side spray. The plumbing supply store called Rohl about the Perrin & Rowe bridge ( model # 4756 ) because I was concerned about the sidespray being hooked up to the cold water only; as napagirl described. They said it delivers warm water if that's what you're using. I guess their diagram is confusing to a lot of people.
If you don't mind a three legged bridge, Moen Showhouse has one, Graff (Hampton model) and Grohe (Bridgeford model) are two that come to mind.

I forgot to mention, the reason I miss the sidespray is because I have a very large sink and cleaning it without a sidespray is a PITA. I haven't decided if I am going to hook the sidespray I am going to add to hot or cold. Any thoughts on that? Which do you have and how do you like it?

If you don't get a sidespray, you need to make sure that the faucet you get has a spray that will reach all the corners and sides of the sink that you will want to clean. A friend was thrilled with her her Grohe Ladylux until she realized that she had to use her hands or a pitcher to get water to the corners of her farm sink. Now she's changing her faucet, even though they just completed their build.

I don't. My husband does. We may eventually, some day, get the separate BW sprayer and lever. But it's not that big of a deal.

I don't miss that PITA side spray I had, but we do have an amazing facuet with a spray that reaches everywhere I need it to. Ours is the Delta Brizo Venuto.

Mary, it's such a personal thing, but compared to modern faucets bridges are more work to clean and significantly less functional, like those lovely bowl sinks, and like them will pass quickly in favor of the next sparkly novelty dangled. A lot of people undoubtedly disagree strongly, but I say only those with a deep true love for the era they evoke should sacrifice function to get them. Plus, a side spray conflicts with the antique look.

I went with a bridge faucet with a side spray because I've been living without one for 8 years and couldn't stand it. I have the LaCucina in antique copper and it sprays both hot and cold depending on the temp of the water I'm using in the faucet. The only adjustment has been that the quality of the side spray is so much better (heavy!) that I have to remember to pay attention not to drop it. I also beg to differ with the poster about the upkeep. I find it much easier to clean and it is very appropriate to a kitchen in a home built in 1878. HTH.

I do have to agree that it is appropriate to an 1878 home. Easy to forget some of us have those treasures to work on. But how come yours is easier to clean? Mine sure wasn't.

It's probably easier to clean because the only other faucets that I've had were the (cheap!) kind with a large base piece that had the handles and the faucet as a part of it and they were always difficult to keep clean all the way around,especially in the back where they were close to the backsplash. My bridge faucet is raised with plenty of space to clean around the handles and faucet and the faucet itself is so nicely constructed and has such a great finish that it doesn't require more than a quick wipe to keep it looking great. I absolutely love it!

Sounds great, and a nice point. May all those old plates I've tried to scrub around rest in peace.

I've had two bridges, although I didn't know what to call them at the time, one wall mounted and one counter. The wall mount was very old with mineral deposits in the joints and it was mounted close to the wall, making getting behind it a fussy business. The counter one had room to get at all the piping and such, but it had curves and bumps, as well as alll those joints, that again required special attention to keep clean. But the source has to be considered here; for instance, I think I may have hand-dried my sink after scrubbinig to make it sparkly perfect once in my entire life--as a young housewife when we were leaving on vacation and I wanted it to be nice to return to. I think I remember doing that...

Im installing a bridge faucet sans side spray in my new kitchen. I'll probably miss the side spray but its worth it for me to get a cleaning looking sink area since its on an open island.

I have a question:
Does your sidespray deliver a nice spray . . . one that is soft and does not splatter water everywhere (as my mom's did)?
I envision rinsing very large trays (well above the top of the sink) so water splatters would be a HUGH issue.

Oh, jeeeze, it seems so long ago when I posted this question! Time flies when you are TKO! I am a little embarrased to report that I caved in to my inner voices and got a single hole Perrin and Rowe with sidespray in satin nickel finish! I know, afer all that... When I went and looked at the bridge faucets in person they seemed so big for my small kitchen. I tried living without my sidespray for awhile and I found I missed it. I tried this particular faucet out at the store. I'm happy with my selection. I am particularly happy with the price. I got it half price off EBAY. It's not installed yet. Demolition is Monday!!

Sounds like you have already received it. Did it come in its original unopened box, in new condition? Another GW'r said her's came in a velvet bag. I'd love a good deal but I'm more than a little anxious ordering such an expensive faucet off e-bay for such a low price. I see one listed by demouraj with a starting bid of $600, but no bidders yet (ends in 16 hrs).
If it will be a while before you can use it, is there any way to test/ install it now - just to make sure everything works as it should?

Napagirl, I purchased my faucet from demouraj on EBAY. It came new in an unopened Perrin Rowe box with Perrin Rowe seal on the box. Communication from the seller was excellent and shipping was fast. I felt comfortable buying based on the 100% positive feedback of the seller. The faucet will have the same warantee as any other Perrin Rowe faucet. If you miss out on the current auction don't worry. She will probably list another soon.

NO! I hated our sidespray on our old faucet. We now have a prerinse faucet and it is a million times better!!!

Did she tell you explicitly that the warranty would be good? Because I can't get her to write me back and answer my questions about the auction (like whether she is an authorized dealer of some sort). I looked at Rohl's web site and the warranty states it is non-transferable and I think has to be sold from an authorized dealer (so maybe if she gave you some original receipt to use if needed). And maybe to pay almost 50% of retail, it doesn't matter if the warranty isn't valid.

My other concern, based on reading the Rohl warranty, was that it might be a fixture made for another country where the plumbing standards are different in some way. I have no idea if this is legit, but Rohl's warranty would have you think that you shouldn't use things from one country in another country in some cases. Of course, they may have a vested interest in scaring me off from that so I don't go to Canada to buy the same faucet cheaper or something like that. I don't know.

Either way, I've sent 2 questions to the seller over the past few days and have gotten no response which makes me a little nervous. You had good communication with her though? It's SUCH a good price.

I have been worried about this as well. My counters & sink should be in this week sometime, and I will be glad to see my old sprayer gone. I have thought about it quite a bit and I had really rather have a more "simple and clean" looking sink area with only one hole for the faucet. So I ended up getting one of those faucets that has one hot/cold lever that kind of sticks out from the side of the base, then the sprayer can be pulled out from the end of the faucet. The faucet I got came with a soap dispenser, but I think I'm going to tell the installer to just leave the soap dispenser off and keep the look very simple with the single hole.

My experience is similar to Francy's.

I installed a nickel wall mount similar to the original in my 1914 kitchen. All the markings remained from the original (which we found after demolition) but for years we used the later model faucet & spray in the house when we purchased it so I did have something to "miss." We have one big deep bowl sink.

There is always an adjustment to change but I would do it again. It's good to have a swivel faucet that has some reach.

The wall mount makes for a clean old fashioned feel to the sink area.

Do I miss my side spray? Sure, like I'd miss a bad toothache ;^P We went with the Kohler Vinnata and I love the simplicity of it. Nothing else up there to clean around or deal with, except the small air gap. Love it!

I just bought a Rohl wall faucet (#1456X TCB) on ebay from the same seller (demouraj .. Jessica Demoura) that OP bought her's from. It was probably a "returned faucet" but it was in perfect condition and everything was complete (DH checked it out). Love the price ... $100 less than the other ebay seller, and $200 less than Homeclick.
