Question on copies of follow-ups? Please help!

I always check this box when I post a message. (Check here if you would like copies of follow-ups to your message emailed to you). But never get a reply sent to my emailbox.

For months now I do not receive any replies that are suppose to be sent to my email address. Has something changed? Also, I notice that my email address is at the beginning of my posts??? I do not see any on other posts. What am I doing wrong?

I Never get a reply sent to me. I have to always come back here and check for myself??? And I always check this:

Can anyone explain? Maybe I did something wrong on my profile? I have been on the Garden-Web for years.

Betty, I just sent you an email through your "My Page." Many people don't receive emails through GardenWeb any more, and I am one of them. If you do not receive it, it might explain why you don't receive the responses after checking that box. I don't know why some people still receive emails and some people don't. GardenWeb administration also does not know why, or rather they don't know how to fix it, but it happened after they switched servers following the sale to IVillage.

Betty, did you ever used to get copies? Did you change email addresses since you signed up with the KT?

I have a bunch of different email addies, but the one I get the KT mail to, is the one I set up with gardenweb back then. For me, it still works. Anyone clicking on send me an email, can. :)

Yeah you started a fight between me and that old crank last time you posted! Just kidding, I'm just giving you hell... Get a photobucket account, they're free and pretty easy to set up, than upload the photo (self-explanatory), move the cursor over the photo, go down to the "HTML CODE" link, copy that 40-or-so-character-long code and paste it in the "message" box on this forum. I'd love to see a photo. And as far as finding a place to put it post a free ad on craigslists in COASTAL North and South Carolina... South Carolina craigslist: http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/sc North Carolina: http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/nc Hell, try Atlanta, too. I'm sure SOMEBODY will take it. You could call William and Mary college, too, they've got lots of weird, exotic species growing on their campus and if you find the right person somebody will probably be into taking it. Hey DJ, Well, I tried to measure the soil with a thermometer today, but it wouldn't read for some reason (I think because the new soil I put it in is very "loose" (see pic)). With that said, its a constant 75 here all year round, with most days reaching into the high 70s/low 80s during the day and at night, usually bottoming out in the mid-60s, occasionally lower. Inside the apartment, where I have the CFL light, I would venture to say that it does get hotter in here during the day, but temp. doesn't really fall as drastic as it does outside. Yup, for sure. I definitely wait plenty before I water... until its really dried out. I've been very cognizant of that. Unfortunately I won't be able to measure the nutrients, but the soil I was using seemed to have compacted a lot (even though it drained really well). The new soil is actually from a hill of grass, leaves, branches, etc. that has been composting for years. We are breaking it down a bit, and I grabbed this from the bottom and re-planted it on Sunday. I noticed actually that the roots had barely any growth in the other soil and I'm wondering if that has to do with how compact it was.... I'm giving them about 14-16 hours of light per day.

Thanks Ryan. It is indeed a 3 ton AC unit. I assume you think the XV95 is a good unit? They all looked at the ductwork to some extent, but no one said it needed work. It is a maze that has been amassed over the life of a 90+ year old house, that has an addition in the back (which, as you might suspect, is the back upper room with poor air flow in the summer). I am concerned that there silence means it will quote "work" with the new equipment, but I am missing an opportunity to fix a different issue than just broken the furnace/AC. The last gentleman made it clear that this system would not fix the problem, but did not propose a fix. I am sensitive to price, so I guess he did not quote it, even as an add on, for fear of me perceiving him as pricier. The unit is in the basement, and the ceiling is not finished so you can see it down there, where it goes from there is beyond my vision and thus, without any knowledgebase, I have no idea what it may be doing after that. The blower in the XV95 is variable speed, I think. Should I attempt to have him proffer some solution that may abate the problem to differentiate the bid? Is this overreaching or in-bounds?

I use to get replies to my posts, but like you, even when I check the box, I never get them now.

To set your email so there is just a clickable link on your member page, and not visible on all the threads follow the instructions below.

Go to the bottom on any page here, and click on Member Pages
Then click on Edit your Personal Information, Page, and Preferences
You will then probably be asked to login in again.
Than check the box Allow other users to send you email via forms at our site.

That will place a link on your member page. Though the emails via GW are not always reliable, your email addy will be visible on the GW email form, and members could get the addy there and email you privately (non GW).

Yes...the follow up reply emails seem to be hit or miss, and have been for a long time.

I never ask to have copies of replies to my posts sent to me, any more - I used to, and they came. Now I just return to view the thread occasionally.

As I receive emails sent via my profile page, I know that facility is working for me ... well, part of the time, at least, as some arrive.

I haven't heard about anyone trying to message me via Gardenweb who wasn't successful.
