Update on DB accident

I miss understood dad yesterday. They were N-bound, the lady that hit them was S-bound, came under a bridge and turned right across in front of the to get ON the ramp going E-bound. She never even slowed down. There was a lady right behind her that stopped to see if DB & DSIL were ok and waited to give the State Patrol her account of the accident. They are both very sore today. DSIL went to the dr., DB goes tomorrow. Mom & Dad took them as DB didn't think he should be driving yet today. They will stay on top of the dr appts for sure. They are supposed to pick up a rental tomorrow. 1998 Jeep Cherokees are great vehicles! (Even if I am a Ford person!) Thank you Chrysler for making such a good strong vehicle that kept them safe.

Tami...who has also been thanking God for keeping them from being more seriously hurt.

Accidents happen so fast. Just sending healing thoughts for your relatives. Make sure they get copies of the accident from the State Patrol for their own records. Also have they sign NOTHING from the other insurance co. In fact they should not even talk to them. Just their own insurance company, and even then be very careful what they say. We were involved in a law suit, lost it because of our dumb mistakes. No injuries, but makes me mad anyway.

Thanks Marie. SIL is an insurance agent so she knows about what they should say and do, or not.

How is your finger? Any infection? Does it still hurt? Fingertips usually heal well, if you don't get infected and don't mind scars. I don't know about deep cuts further into the hand. If your cut is near any tendons or joints, or shows signs of infection, I would get it looked at. In Sept, I cut off the corner of my left index finger, a piece extending significantly into the nail. It looked really bad, bled a lot - a blood trail to the bathroom and blood spattered around the sink - and hurt like hell. I had to keep cooking for 4 more hours. I thought it would leave my finger looking odd, but 3 months later, everything was normal. Hopefully yours will too. I did apply Neosporin every other day.

GS's mother told me, today, the driver of the truck was driving in Kathy's lane, she swirved to miss him, he realized he was in the wrong lane, tried to correct and they hit headon. No alcohol involved. At least that is what she heard.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions, but as it turned out, Sony decided not to send anyone to Toronto and is going to let the staff in Toronto work it out on their own without a director. I guess that is one way for them to save money. So I will wait for warmer weather before I visit Toronto, and Kevin will not be there, unless he goes with me. Last week a friend asked me to go to Brazil with him some time next year after April. He has to settle an estate there, and he knew that I could take the time off. We'll see if that materializes. I would like to visit Brazil, but I've been afraid to go because I do not speak Portuguese, but my friend does, and that would make me feel more comfortable. He will be mainly going to Rio de Janeiro, but would be making side trips to Petrópolis and other places.

Sorry, I failed to see that this kind of black box is different from something insurance companies once touted to record your safe driving and 'help you save on premiums'. (Hahahaha!) We'll skip the stress of small claims court, and Travelers has no motive for budging. They might have if we'd had Collision coverage and State Farm arguing for us. The nicest thing I can believe about the other driver is that he just didn't feel or hear the collision when he backed up. It's unlikely, but 'possible'. We can afford to pay for this, but my belief in people 'doing the right thing' has taken a hit. This little fender bender pales to nothing in the news of a horrible accident last week where a young woman driving 'wrong way' crashed head-on into another vehicle, killing herself and five of six family members -- wife/mother and four children -- leaving the husband/father in critical condition. The family was enroute to a vacation in Minnesota. Thank you all for your helpful comments...and commiseration.

Ouch. We had a 1998 Jeep Cheroke - yes they are great vehicles. Thank heavens they were not seriously hurt. I'm glad your SIL is an insurance agent to make sure they get what they are entitled to.

I'm glad to hear that so far, there are no serious injuries, but do warn them to be very vigilant for the next few weeks. DD was rear-ended some years ago, went to the ER, had X-rays, everything was fine and she was sent home. Within a couple of weeks, though, she developed a herniated disk--she'll have pain and problems from it the rest of her life.

Secondly? if they haven't yet, they need to turn this all over to their lawyer--they've got enough to worry about without dealing with the insurance companies. We were at our lawyer's first thing the morning after DD's accident, and it was the best thing we did--we didn't have to look at the many medical bills, or talk to the insurance company, and DD got way more than she'd have gotten on her own. And these things take years to settle, if done correctly. It's just a huge hassle no one needs.

Tami, so sorry to hear of your family's accident, but glad that they were not seriously injured. I pray that it remains that way. Scary stuff.

Good thing there was a Giood Samaritan/witness. I'm glad no one is seriously injured. I've had several fender-bender accidents, never seriously hurt, but I'm always terrified to drive for weeks after.

azzalea you're sooo right! i was about 19 (and didn't know better) when i was rear-ended...seemed ok but woke up the next morning stiff as a board...

glad your db wasn't willing to be heroic and drive today! and that your parents are close by...

Thankful that it appears that there were no more serious consequences than you've heard of, so far.

Cars can be fixed - or scrapped - but getting people fixed, when possible, sometimes can be a long, painful situation.

I hope that the people who were in the accident recover soon and well, without ongoing problems.
