Building and decorating to those standards in a place destined to be damaged repeatedly by the weather is probably Mother Nature's way of telling you you've got too much money, but it's just wonderful anyway.

Wow. Talk about bringing the outdoors inside. They've really done it. I hope they get many years of pleasure before it is washed away. I didn't read the article through, but I wonder how they get fresh water and if they have any plumbing.

I want that house, and I want it moved here. Oh wait, in that case, it wouldn't be the PERFECT beachfront house!

I love the lower kitchen cabinets and wish they had shown more of the kitchen.

Personally I'd watch the weather forecast before ever going out there and avoid it during storms. The power of Ma Nature especially with tides is truly scary. No leaving that house once the storm strikes.

Yes, that was my first thought, too. It is beautiful, but in that location I wouldn't build anything unless I could consider it disposable.

Bronwyn, when I read, "Basketball-size rocks and piles of sand have been known to wash into buildings in this area..." I think that's Mother Nature's way of saying, "Don't build there!"

Wow - so pretty and yes, so endangered! At just a few feet above the high water mark I wonder if they put the furniture upstairs when they close it up for winter? It seems like it would flood once every 3-5 years.

I do love stone houses, though. I know they have a ton of challenges but they are so romantic.

Almost finished reading a book set in Scotland - The Blackhouse by Peter May (so good!). The weather and geographical descriptions in the book involve lots of wind and rocky beaches. The house you posted looks like how I imagine the Scottish setting is. Love looking at the beach house but I think the wind would drive me crazy!

Oh it is just lovely. I'd love to run off there for a week or two....
