Both of these are liquids. I have found such fantastic deals on them in recent months, I've been using them on everyday clothes (like jeans and T-shirts) and other sundry items, usually washed in warm water.

I've been very pleased with their ability to clean well and kill odors. For me they're an incredible bargain for the price. Just wondered if anyone else had tried them and, if so, what your results were.

Both are good for light and moderate stained loads, but Era shines for low priced detergents that's on the market, and it's easier to rinse.

I haven't read the book, which sounds interesting. But through trial and error, I have chosen similar wide spacings, and have been very happy with the results. Two factors sent me down that path initially. Disease was often a problem for me in closely-spaced rows, especially with beans. Then when I began to save heirloom seed, I often had a limited supply initially, and wanted to get the maximum yield out of whatever plants survived. I observed enormous increases in plant vigor with the wider spacing, and have used the method almost exclusively ever since. 24" spacing for pole beans seems excessive; while they will usually fill in the trellis (depending upon the degree of branching), I found a default spacing of 12" to be optimal. Not all varieties will require the same spacing; some pole beans do well with 6" spacing, while a few very rampant varieties require 15-18". Yardlong beans do their best for me at 15-18". Pole limas need even more, I use 24" spacing for them... and when I grew the large-seeded pole limas (in warmer climes than I have now) I spaced them up to 36" apart. HOWEVER... this year one of my small-seeded pole limas died, leaving a 4-foot gap between plants. By the time of harvest, the gap was no longer visible, even upon close examination. And a rare bean last year, with only one seed germinating (!!!) covered a 4' X 6' trellis by itself, and produced over 8 ounces of dry seed. Pole beans will take almost as much space as you give them, and a pampered plant can give astronomical yields. For tomatoes, I use 24-30" spacing each way for determinates, and 36-48" for indeterminates. Eggplant does well for me at 30-36". 24" seems to be optimal for okra where I live now, but in a long-season area (San Diego) I used 36" - and could barely walk between the plants. I have arrived at default spacings for most vegetables which are generally much greater than seed packet instructions. This will vary with the variety; I observe the initial performance, and make adjustments as appropriate the next time it is grown. As a rule of thumb, the widest spacing that I can use, while still covering the ground or trellis without gaps, seems to be optimal for plant health. Castorp, my own observations are in agreement with what you stated in your last post. I experimented heavily with various spacings for one of my favorite crops, yardlong beans. At the closer spacings (4-6"), they did not climb as high, and the majority of the yield was close to the ground. At the spacing I use now, the vines are rampant & heavily-branched, and bear continuously. With pole snap beans, the results were similar. At closer spacings, I would get one very heavy picking, followed by a long period of inactivity. This was even more pronounced in bush beans. At wider spacings, the yield was more continuous, and the pod quality was better. I do not believe that there is one "perfect" spacing. Differences in climate and fertility will cause variations in optimal spacing; there are even differences between my backyard garden, and the same plant grown in my main plot 6 miles away. Then too, the space between plants is an influence on their behavior, and can be used as a tool to the gardener's advantage. If you live in a short-season area (or want multiple rotations within the growing season), want heavy one-time crops for canning, or have limited space, then closer spacing might be appropriate. If you want a more prolonged harvest, are trying for "whopper" produce, live in a long-season area, or have problems with foliar diseases, then wider spacings may be preferable.

Some pics. Here is a oak wood floor style. We also have this in our main floor sons bathroom. It has held up well Here is a tile (I think it might be Sedona, but I can't remember). Yes it looks a lot like tile, but does not feel like it when you walk on it. Allure "White" in our in-laws bathroom and our recent kitchen remodel. I just went to a DirectBuy guest orientation. To tell you the truth, their speech/presentation sounded like a pitch for a timeshare. Their membership is $4990 for 3 years, no you can't just get 1 year, it's a 3-year deal. Every year after that is only $200. They say they get straight from the manufacturer at their cost. Well, the membership price made me sceptical, but I thought, ok I will see what they can offer on a washer/Dryer/Refrigerator that I just purchased. When I purchased those items, I went to a couple of the big stores and found all their prices then haggled with one to price beat. Here was the run down that DirectBuy gave me and the outcome: Samsung washer WF448AAP - their price $1000+ my price from BestBuy 951.20 Samsung dryer DV448AEP - their price $1000+ my price from BestBuy 886.41 Samsung refrigerator RFG297AARS - their price $2000+ my price from BestBuy 1969.99 When I told him that, he said that he didn't understand how a store would be below the manufacturer's price (not MSRP), how can they do that. He acted like I was lying, when I wanted him to compare my TV price...he pretty much said goodbye it was nice talking to me and tried to get me out as fast as possible. It pissed me off a bit, but I guess when they don't really offer a deal...it's not good for them. When I told him that maybe I'll talk it over with my fiance for her to check it out, he said that even if she became a member and I married her, I wouldn't be allowed to be in the club, pretty much I'm not welcome there. So they aren't what they say they are. Too fishy, beware. Take your time and a little research, you can save the money without forking up $5k then justifying it, because they saved a few 100$ on items you bought. It seems that it's a club that makes it seem like you are getting a deal, but if you end up researching and looking around, I guarantee you'll be disappointed you joined them. As for the prices above....Lowe's had the lowest price, but I liked BestBuy and they said they would match (when they put the w/d in their system....I got an additional amount off since it was bought as a bundle...that was a mistake they tried to fix, but I talked them into not changing it.) I'm on the search for good furniture resources...We are getting a house built and I need to get some new stuff....does anyone know of any good resources that give good deals? I wish I would have looked into the forums before I went, I wouldn't have wasted 2 hours of my day.

Ran into them once with one client who did not end up using them. Not sure why. I got the impression that they were Chinese nockoffs maskerading under an American sounding name. Don't think they are made on Nantucket Island.

cleanteamofny, I've been using them on loads of everyday clothes (like jeans and grungy T-shirts) which have greasy and dirty stains, and they've cleaned them very well! I would be impressed even if they cost much more than they do (maybe I've just found extraordinary prices?). The fact that I've bought them at such low prices makes them that much more amazing, in my opinion. :)

I haven't tried them, but my neighbor swears by ERA. She does say you have to be more careful about pretreating than you do with using Tide, but she says other than that, it is excellent.

I haven't used Wisk since I had my top loader and they changed the formula. They have changed it again since then and because I have already found a winning routine, I'm hesitant to mess with any new detergents right now. But if I had to try one of the two, I would go with the ERA. It's made by P&G and as far as I know all their liquid detergents are pH balanced so it's most likely more gentle on fabrics.

I know...I know...here's a self proclaimed powder user, which is alkali, talking about things being pH balanced..LOL But in all fairness I have been favoring Tide Free and Cheer free liquids for many things. (I still love my powders though. ;))

I use Era for my regular machine..love the clean scent, and the way it works is very comparable to Tide, in my opinion.

I will try Era and wisk again, if it cleans my work clothes, like Tide does, then I will stick to it. Love tide power with bleach, and total care, but it is so EXPENSIVE

I have a top-loader and LOVE Wisk. It is important to fill to the recommended amount to get the stains out. It rinses amazingly well and love that it has citric acid. I recently stopped Wisk to see if some irritation I'm having is from that. I've not had enough time to tell yet. I hope not.

The price is wonderful and if you have coupons to boot, it is a steal!
I may use wisk again in the future, but with that detergent, less is more!

It's great to know that others have had the same great experience! cleanteamofny, where do you get coupons? I did use BJ's coupons (which they send to members) on two huge ERA HE containers w/dispensers several months ago (and I'm just now finishing the first one!), which meant I got each huge container for $6! I got a fantastic deal on the Wisk HE at CVS (only bought one, to see how it would perform), of all places. But I don't recall seeing any manufacturers' coupons for either of these. That would be icing on the cake. :)

BJ's has $2.00 off on the coupon rack by the door today. I just picked up a bottle and took a few more coupons just in case they are not there at the end of the month! :-)

I had a $2.00 coupon for Wisk last month and one of the sales clerk went to the back and got me a sample plus an additional $2.00 coupon, so last month was a $4.00 saving on Wisk!

Combo with BJ's $2.00 for addtional savings. Must us BJ's coupon by 10-19-2011!

I went to BJ's and picked up 2 bottles of ERA @$10.99 and with 2 $2.00 coupon gave me a boost to stock up until the next sale!

Anyway, if you have a Shoprite nearby, Tide is on sale for $14.99 with members card and with a MFG coupon will save us even more!
