Tell me I'm NOT seeing orange/peach tones in Putnam ivory ++
Comments (8)I just finished painting my spare bedroom putnam ivory this afternoon, and I'm not sure what to think of it... It kind of looked like flesh toned bandaids ( western exposure - setting sun). Hopefully I love it in the morning :) I've had a heck of a time choosing tan colors. Painted the kitchen & dining room BM wilmington tan one evening, and it looked awful the next day in full sunlight - like a butterscotch pudding explosion. I repainted it BM lenox tan and really like it. It's beige/tan/gold during the day and takes on a greenish cast at night which actually looks good also. Then I painted the mudroom & hallway BM shaker beige (on the same strip as lenox tan) but found it had pinkish tones in the daylight. I was thoroughly frustrated. Went back to the store and the very nice BM (Benjamin Moore) man printed out the formula for shaker beige and for 50% lenox tan. Almost identical, except the shaker beige had a tad more red tint. Went home with a gallon of 50% lenox tan and repainted the mudroom & hallway. It looks really similiar to the shaker beige but without the pinky cast in the evening. Next project to tackle - the master bedroom. Sheesh, can't wait to see what winner (not) I pick for the first coat, lol. Sorry to ramble on in your thread, but I share your pain in choosing colors :) Dawn...See MoreWhat paint colors for mostly gold upholstery?
Comments (53)Hi loribee, here are some pics.... the color on the left is Nantucket Gray, middle is BM Baby Turtle and right is BM Dry Sage..while I like the Nantucket Gray the best, the Baby turtle matches the greens in the furniture the best. Here is my new dilemma, I like green in this family room but if you remember, there is another formal room with a couch as well. In that front room and entry, the decatur buff looks the best. I don't know how I feel about transitioning one large second story walled room in Decatur buff to a Green. I've attached another picture which show kind of where the transition would be. My home is so open, every room looks into the next so maybe I should stick to one color like I had before? This process is driving me nuts! What are your opinions on the transition? Comments (24)Thanks! So far the feedback from real estate agents who've seen the house has been positive. We're still not ready to sell though, perhaps in the fall. Meanwhile we've been enjoying the kitchen, except for an issue with the granite seam at the sink, argh! I really didn't want the seam there but I realize it's standard, and better to have a couple of small seams than one long one running front to back on the counter. The seam at the front of the sink is cracked and crumbling. I've posted for advice on the Stone Advice forum and am getting the fabricator to come out & fix it. Otherwise things are great and I'm loving the double oven. The top oven seems to take forever to heat up when it's in "regular" mode, but in convection mode things move a lot faster. I'm still experimenting, but so far it's been useful to have the 2 ovens....See MoreQuestion - too much gold??
Comments (13)I used colors from the SW Blonde strip as well. My LR and office (note connected) are both Restrained Gold, my DR, which flows off my LR, is Mannered Gold, my Kitchen, FR and Media room are all Blonde. Hallways and Guest room are Ivoire. Where I veered from this color strip was my daughters BR--Romaine, with the bathroom Lace Wing (one shade lighter than Romaine). Our MBR is Aleutian, with the bathroom two shades lighter--Onward. AND, in the DR that is Mannered Gold, we have a tray ceiling. I did the top tray in a beautiful blue called Flyaway and sponged clouds. It's a gorgeous contrast to the dark Mannered Gold. I plan on doing details of cloud shadows using Blonde and Restrained Gold, along with some gray tones and bright white. I love the way the rooms flow from one another. They feel so connected and "right". And as someone else mentioned, these colors are so different depending on the level of sun. It's always such a nice surprise to see what the rooms look like at different times of the day (new home build so we don't live there yet). I also don't have any furniture set up, but that will be the easy part, I think. We have a furniture store here that does the same thing as Ethan Allen, where the salesperson also has a degree in Interior Design and will help coordinate pieces. I plan on using that service when the time comes....See Moreequest17
