In need of some help with exterior paint for lake cottage

Hello! We are building our lake cottage and until now I have always envisioned it to be all white with dark green/navy shutters. Until I saw this picture! Our house is very similar except has a hipped metal roof. I'm not very comfortable with color so this gray would be a big deal to me. Do you think we would get sick of the gray and all white would be a safer option? What exterior colors would you suggest for a light airy cottage look? Does anyone have an idea what paint colors would be close to this gray?

I think light gray is a fabulous idea -we have a favorite lake in NH, and I always think it is one of the best colors for a cottage.

Thanks best years! I need some reassurance! My house is white with dark green shutters and I realized I was doing the same thing for our camp! I'm trying to go out of my comfort zone a little.

At a loss here, folks! I'm terrible at visualizing and gave up on trying to sketch in colors myself on the Ben Moore or Sherm Williams websites. Would loooovveeee if someone out there could give it a whirl! Kindly seeking your suggestions for body and trim colors for this waterfront beach house in a New England fishing community. Neighboring home is brown cottage (see pic) and would love to somehow tie two homes together, but without making the main house brown. Most homes are weathered shingles..grey, dull. Thank you all for the comments and ideas. After seeing the pics that lukkirish posted, my idea of going redwood-ish is disappearing. I really like that green (3rd pic) with the white trim. Or the yellow. What to do??? Bonnie_ann are you near here? When I was a teen my parents had a cottage in the same community. Driving 'to the lake' was like leaving the state, it seemed sooo far. There was nothing out that way for miles. (The trip now takes us 45 minutes, going the long way.) At that time all the houses were strickly weekend cabins, now most are permanent residents. We are having an arborist out to check on the trees and educate us on the pros and cons of their location. People in this region of Florida are protective of their cypress trees. I am looking forward to napping on the screened porch while listening to the breeze through the cypress, a sound that really is different then most trees. (Sappy but true.) Thank you again, keep the suggestions coming. We have a few weeks before having to decide.

Thanks so much. I’m near Mackinac Bridge. :) I’ve been looking at sage and yellow colors, too. My cottage is very tiny and old compared to my neighbors-so I feel like I can be a little more daring (but tasteful) with colors, including greens and yellows. Love Scandinavian style cottages-but red is too bold for me. Thanks for all suggestions!

I am not at all sure that is grey. It may be white in shadow.

When I think grey cottage, I think white cedar shingles, weathered --- nothing painted. What material is it?

I would take a cue from surrounding properties. It seems that,for some reason, vacation areas are often quite cohesive in color schemes.

I like a medium gray with crisp white trim. It would look great with a metal roof!

It's hardi siding, and unfortunately this lake has EVERY style you can imagine, from log cabins, brick traditionals and everything in between. No cohesive styles or colors. Thanks for y'all's input!

I actually got in touch with the builder of the house in the picture today (google image search is amazing!it took me straight to their web sight)
and she told me she couldn't recall the exact paint but it was a very light gray. Off the top of her head she said it was similar to agreeable gray by SW. Has anyone had experience with this color? Does it look like the siding in the picture?
