My daughter has twins and spent some time in the hosp. and then on bed rest. She delivered at 37 weeks which was just fine. Both boys weighed 6 lb 1 oz (I think, I know it was 6 something) Every day makes a difference. Prayers for everyone who loves this young family.

I started dilating at 27 weeks with my twins, was in the hospital for a week and send home on strict bedrest. Had to be in the trendellen (sp?) position, which meant the lower part of my body had to be elevated higher than my heart. Sorta awkward, but this was done to take pressure off my cervix. I spent 6 weeks on bedrest, which was difficult but I kept focusing on having babies that would survive. Our sons are now 22, and you'd never know they were preemies.

Your DIL could probably use your help while on bedrest (if you live in the same town as them). My mom came over at noon every day to give me lunch and to visit. She and my hubby would change the sheets every couple of days while I was in the bathroom. My doctor told me to shower only when necessary, and I'll tell you after several days of bedrest your DIL will probably be weak enough that she should not be in the bathroom alone while showering! Others helped w/housecleaning and a few meals.

The medical community has made great progress in regards to preemies, but if she does deliver early (5 weeks or more) she will also need some emotional support. Our sons were in ICU and I was SO physically exhausted from being in bed for six weeks that it was probably a good thing the boys were in the hospital for 2 weeks.

I will pray for her, your son and their precious children!

Susie, your son, DIL and the twins are in my thoughts. Hope you can let us know how they're doing later. Little twins, I'm pulling for you, kiddoes - you stay in there until you're both big and healthy!

Daughter-in-law, Nadine, is at 28 weeks. She is having contractions and they haven't been able to stop them. She will have to have complete bedrest until she delivers. They are giving her steroids for the babies lungs. The doctor said today that for every day she can keep from delivering it means 3 less days in the nic unit when they are born.

We are all jumping in to help. They have a 4 1/2 year old. We will all keep her at night and get her to school. We want to keep things as normal as we can for her. I will do alot of the cooking if she gets to go home. Her hubby, our son Scott, is wonderful to help in every way. I am free every day from noon on. We live about 35 minutes from them.. I will go every day if I need to. Sadly her Mom died unexpectly 2 months after the 4 1/2 year old was born.

This is really hard for me because we lost a son this same way. I delivered 8 weeks early and he died. I know they can do wonderful things now to save babies. This brings back so many memories for us..

I have a strong faith and it will get me through all of this. I will be there for the kids all they need me to be.. We are a very close loving family..

Susie, you are so right about the wonderful strides made in caring for preemies. My DIL went into labor at 27 weeks and she went into the hospital. They gave her steroids for the babies lungs also. Her contractions wouldn't stop and they delivered the babies by C-section. They were less than 3 lb. each. They got wonderful care at the hospital and were finally released in March. Son and DIL moved to the city during that time so that they could spend as much time as possible with the babies. DIL even pumped breast milk for the little ones. This December they turned 4 yrs old and are as healthy as can be.

I hope the same for your twins.

Sure will pray, Susie. My granddaughter is also on complete bedrest. Her first was a preemie and this second one is only at 2 pounds and wants out. Gotta do all possible to keep the little fella in there as long as possible. Same for those twins your son and daughter-in-law will be having.
