I need the carrot cake recipe,hubby is away I want to make this his birthday cake.It came with my jennair cooktop back 80s.

its on page 172.

its a black cover,does Anyone have this book?

Carrot Cake...from page 172 Jenn Aire cookbook

2c all purpose flour
Â¾ c granulated sugar
Â½ c packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
Â¾ tsp baking powder
Â½ tsp. salt
1Â½ tsp. ground cinnamon
Â½ tsp. ground allspice
Â½ tsp. ground nutmeg
Dash of ground cloves
3 eggs
2/3 cup vegetable oil
Â½ c. milk
1Â½ tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. shredded carrots
3/4 c. chopped walnuts

Grease and flour a 13x9 inch baking pan. Set aside. In large mixing bowl combine all ingredients except walnuts. Blend on low speed of electric mixer until moistened. Beat on high speed 1 minute, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in nuts. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake in preheated 325FÂ°( convection oven on rack 3 for 30 to 35 minutes )
or
Bake in preheated 350FÂ° radiant bake oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until top springs back when touched lightly. Cool 5 minutes. Loosen edges. Remove from pan. Cool on wire rack. Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting. ( recipe to follow )

Cream Cheese Frosting for Carrot Cake
2Â½ c. confectioner's sugar
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine softened
2 to 3 Tbsp. half-and-half or milk
Â½ tsp. vanilla

In medium mixing bowl combine confectioners sugar,cream cheese, butter, 2 Tbsp half-and-half and vanila. Blend on low speed of electric mixer. Beat on high speed until smooth and creamy. Gradually beat in additional half-and-half ( about 1 Tbsp. ) until frosting reaches desired consistency.

Makes about 1 3/4 cups...frosts one 13x9 inch cake.

I feel so guilty even saying this because my children bought me a beautiful looking GE Stainless steel, ceramic top stove and I absolutely despise it! How I wish I could have had either another electric coil top or my fave - a gas top. Ceramic is a joke to cook on. It takes forever to heat up or to cool down, you can't leave anything simmering because it does NOT simmer, and nothing really cooks correctly. Who cares how "lovely" it looks if you can't actually cook with it. I wish I could return it!!!!!!! I am an experienced home cook, but the ceramic glass top is enough to reduce the most experienced cook to tears because it does not really work. You cannot simmer, fry, stew, or sauté correctly without taking the pan on and off. I finally bought an electric counter top skillet which I use for frying and sautéing. I use the glass top to boil pasta water, and tea. That's about it. I use my slow cooker for stews and tomato sauce or thick soups and my electric skillet for everything else. My stove bakes perfectly so I use it for baking. BUT to think that my children paid a fortune for this stupid stove is sad and just plain WRONG.

Has anyone cooked prime rib using Auto Roast in their Miele oven?

gma_j, I see now you were referring to setting the probe temperature. I haven't used my Miele probe; I use the speed oven for smaller things, where a probe is less useful. But it really does snap in place with a loud click; so if yours didn't, that could be the problem. Larger things generally go into my E'lux oven; that probe works fine. The speed oven pre-heats quickly, so if something fits its faster to cook it there. Its useful for re-heating (use MasterChef, if you know the weight), as well as stuff like baked potatoes (in combination mode), and for roasting, braising, or convection baking small portions. I've rarely used defrost, or broil (except to finish browning something like ribs). The Miele's manuals leave much to be desired. While we wait for mojavean or someone smart to write a decent Miele speed oven cookbook, a variety of recipes on the Miele site can get you started on some dishes (see link). Carrot cake Julie TÂs 3 eggs 3/4 cup vegetable oil 3/4 cup buttermilk 2 cups sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla 2 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking soda 3/4 teaspoon salt 2 tsps cinnamon 1 8 oz can crushed pineapple, drained 2 cups grated carrots 1/2 cup raisins chopped with 1 Tablespoon of flour Buttermilk glaze 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 tsp baking soda 1/4 cup buttermilk 1/4 cup butter 1 Tblsp light corn syrup 1 tsp vanilla Orange Cream Cheese Frosting 1/2 cup softened butter 4 oz softened cream cheese 1 tsp vanilla 3 cups powdered sugar 1 tsp orange juice 1 tsp grated orange rind Preheat oven to 350 With a mixer Beat eggs, add oil and buttermilk, sugar and vanilla. beat to combine. Stir together flour, salt, cinnamon and baking soda and stir into batter. stir in pineapple, carrots and raisins. Pour into a greased 8 by 13 pan or 2 greased round 9 inch cake pans. Bake 35 to 45 minutes until set in the middle. Remove from the oven and immediatly spread with the buttermilk glaze. Cool completely and frost with the cream cheese frosting. Buttermilk glaze: In a medium sauce pan ( don't use a small pan) combine all ingredients but vanilla. Bring to a boil and cook 3 minutes stirring often...it will bubble a lot. It should be a light caramel color, stir in vanilla and pour over the cake Cream cheese frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until light add vanilla powd. sugar and juice and rind...beat until smooth and frost the cooled cake

I enjoy cooking but I have alot going on and there are times when I am pressured because I must have TIME to cook. I find meal planning helps as does the crock pot, making a meal that will feed us more than once (leftovers which is pretty easy since there are just two of us), etc. I do NOT enjoy grocery shopping at all. I try lots of new recipes - lately thanks to Pinterest and Facebook. Many are keepers although I've tried a few that were definitely not. Tonight is a chicken/dressing casserole with roasted sweet potatoes and I have not decided what other veggie - or perhaps I will do a salad instead. Keeping salad items ready and on hand is another big help for us. tina
