Bosch vs Jenn-Air dishwasher
Comments (9)I know this is going to sounds nuts, but I don't think I have ever HATED an appliance, or anything or anyone, for that matter, as much as I hate my dishwasher. Consider this a public service announcement. Right out of the box, it was a complete pain, it never really got my dishes clean, no matter what. And the machine was expensive to boot! Approximately $1300-what was I thinking? This supposedly state of the art dishwasher does not do its job. I have to rinse (practically wash) everything before putting it in the dishwasher. If I don't, everything will come out with baked on food - with every cycle, including sanitize or heavy wash! And every cycle is an eternity...not one "quick wash" cycle. Before our house burned down, I had a Bosch, which I loved dearly. I would never have broken up with my beloved Bosch, but for the unfortunate fire. I could put dishes and silverware directly into the dishwasher without ever rinsing them off and they would come out sparkling clean. Isn't that what you expect from a dishwasher! I have to basically wash everything before putting it in the crappy JennAir dishwasher, and many times wash it all again after I remove things from it! I have tried it all, dishwasher cleaners, vinegar, dishwasher detergent with phosphates, dishwasher "boosters", JetDry. I am disgusted, and I think I have been beaten. I want my Bosch back, boo hoo! I understand that this is supposed to be more "green" and use less water. Hello, JennAir??? If I am essentially washing one load THREE times, that is a tremendous waste of water! Nothing green about it. About the only nice things I can say are that it is an attractive appliance, and very quiet. But I don't need something pretty, quietly sitting there, taking its sweet time, NOT doing it's job in my home! (I've worked with enough people like that!) I have contacted Jenn Air, their customer service is awful and dismissive...they got my money, won't do anything further and they don't care about pleasing the customer...simply awful....See MoreDid anyone purchase all Jenn-Air appliances?
Comments (4)Yes, sewwhatsnew, the water dispenser is internal on the left side as you face the fridge. The water tastes great...however, our city tap water also tastes fine. It's just nice to have really cold water so accessible without a large filtered pitcher or an extra filtered faucet at your sink. It also makes filling reusuable water bottles easy! I also have the JA slide in gas range and I am very pleased with its performance. I had one issue with some paint flaking on the airflow grate in the rear but it was taken care of immediately by JA and my dealer. I have not had any other problems. Good luck with your choices!...See MoreJenn Aire Wall Oven - good or bad move?
Comments (0)I'm going to be needing new appliances soon - I'm redoing a kitchen. my local appliance store has a 30" Jenn Aire wall oven they'll sell me for 300.00. It's in bisque - I'm figuring that is the reason OR the model is a disaster. It is last yr's model too - which certainly doesn't bother me. it's JJW9530DDB - unless the B on the end is for the color. the one at the site address he emailed me is in black and that's the number on it. According to the website and the salesman it's also a convection oven which bothers me even more - this is an expensive oven (to me anyway) and for 300.00??? I don't have much money - but I don't cook much either so I'm not needing a super piece of equipment - just something to make garlic toast in, cookies maybe - and an occasional meatloaf. that's about the extent of my oven use. Oh - and I thought if I'm redoing the kitchen, I should put in new appliances. right now I just use a hot plate and small counter oven. that didn't seem right to do in a newly redone kitchen... I do like that it'd be a wall oven so it could be put up higher than one w/ a range since I have back problems. i had planned to get a range and figured I could get my needs met for around 500-600.00. This unit with a cooktop they have would be about 600.00. does this sound like a big mistake on the oven? the cook top should be fine - it's within price range it's selling for on the net / elsewhere. I called this store today to see how easy it'd be to find a 24" range in bisque. I can manage the 30" just didn't plan to since I don't cook much - seemed a waste of space to me. but I'd give up the 6" of counter space to have the oven up higher! I've started looking online for recalls etc and did find some negative reviews regarding the doors of this oven - seems some people have had them fall off and couldn't get them to stay on even with new hinges. that didn't sound good. It did seem this mostly happened on double ovens tho. This is a single - I certainly have no use for a double oven! anyone have any input on this oven? Jenn Aire ovens? have one? the very, very low price? last yr's model vs one's older than that? Here is a link that might be useful: jenn aire oven...See MoreDishwasher: can't decide. Miele, Asko, JennAir, Viking, Bosch
Comments (30)So I got the Miele Diamante Plus G2143SC installed yesterday. I ran it through two Rinse & Hold cycles first and then did a Pot Scrubber with detergent added so that the inside was clean of any manufacturing residue. I loaded it up with lunch and dinner dishes and pans that evening and ran it on the Normal program (the Turbo mode was off). I stayed near the kitchen the entire time and it sounded like it filled with water, pre-washed, drained, filled, pre-washed again (why?), drained, filled, washed (heard detergent door open), drained, filled, rinsed, drained, dried. Also, during the end rinse (which took about 30 minutes total), the last 15 minutes it sounded louder, like it was using higher water pressure. The entire time using the Normal cycle from start to end when it drained the final rinse water was 2 hours! The original GE Profile I had 3 years ago took about an hour using Normal, and the Electrolux from 2 years ago was about 1.5 hours. Tonight I going to use Normal again, but also with the Turbo mode turned on and see if there is any difference. Whenever it starts to fill with water, there is a slight is slight gurgling sound, but it only last for about 5 seconds and then fills pretty quite. During the pre-wash, wash, and rinse, it was very quite while running (more so than the GE and Electrolux I owned). I did hear (at the local Miele showroom) a Optima in use a few weeks ago (it has Q3 noise level) and I think it was a tad bit quieter than this Diamante (Q2 noise level) but not by much. When we checked it this morning, everything was perfectly clean (dishes, posts, pans, plastic cups (we don't use real glass glasses too often), and silverware. The plastic cups were dry except on a few that concave on the top where there was some water puddle. There was also a plastic storage container that was used to store left-overs. It was clean, but also has some water on the top part. Everything else was dry and spotless. So with only 1 use down, we're relatively happy with our purchase, and baring any problems down the road, I'd consider buying Miele again. A few other nice things about the way it's made, unlike most other dishwashers (including the GE and Electrolux we had), is that the exterior has it's own sealed enclosure on the sides and top, where most other brands you can see the fiber-insulation on the sides and top. This unit was side mounted (due to granite counters). The way it works is there's two screws on each side top and bottom, right before the water-seal. But instead of it drilling into the sides of the cabinet, they instead push a piece of metal onto the side of the cabinet that hold the dishwasher in place. This is nice, as it eliminates any drilling into the wood, but still holds it very firmly....See Moresskit
