I have a droid and do not like it Terri...I love B's Iphone....I am going to switch asap as I can upgrade....just my opinion! Stacy Miss you!!!

I just got a Verison Samsung Continuum, and I love it. Very much like the iPhone functionally. I sent it to the office with DH and a whole division of computer engineers loved it, too.

Good to know that sushipup as I have a contract with verizon for another year..but wanting to upgrade from my droid...going to ck. that out!

I found the Droid so confusing, I took it back to Verizon within the first week. I'm kinda gun-shy now because I won't have that option with my next one. I DO love my iPad and iPod Touch, so I think iI will get an iPhone, too.

I love my iPhone. I would get it again in a heartbeat. My son uses Android on his cell phone. He would get it again in a heartbeat. My other son has had 3 Blackberries. He's a sucker for punishment. He's hated it all three times. He got one a year ago. It died in 2 months. His replacement phone lasted 2 weeks. He's having a fight with his carrier because they won't fix his phone and want him to pay his bill. Not gonna happen.

I love my iphone and I find it very easy to use. I've heard good things about the Droid, though.

I have the droid incredible and I like it, but now that Verizon is getting the iphone I wish I could upgrade. I'm totally convinced that anything Apple is the way to go!! I will never own a pc again!!

I have a droid..the EVO..LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Love the keyboard for texting (more so now that I have swipe), love all the aps I have and can get for free, the screen is HUGE compared to the blackberry (not sure on the Iphone). and I'm sure I haven't found half of what I can do on it. My calaendar is on it, it's my camers, if I coudl figure out the MP3 player I'd use that (just haven't had the time), I can download books (kindle) , I can download audio books. It has 3G so I can use it anywhere. It's my GPS, it's my All in one device. Oh and I can play ANGRY BIRDS on it ;-) Seriously I love my droid!

I love everything about my droid (from Verizon) except the phone :-) I consider it an excellent little computer, but the sound quality of the phone itself is poor and I am constantly touching it accidentally with my cheek and ending calls, etc. Physically, the sound button is also too easy to accidentally touch and I've sometimes turned the sound down by accident and not heard a call or text coming in. The applications and internet access are great and the GPS is very good.

Among other things, I use it for Facebook, texting with my kids, playing Tetris and Solitaire, a pretty sophisticated birding application (iPhone has the same app available), Kindle, camera, general internet access (especially when traveling) flashlight, music (mostly Pandora radio), alarm clock, GPS, heartrate monitor, application for identifying songs that are playing that I don't recognize, weatherbug, notepad, puzzles and games for the grandkids, etc, etc....

I think I'd get an iPhone now that Verizon has them (we're kind of stuck with Verizon because that's the only phone that will work out at our camp, where we spend most weekends), but I also would buy a droid again, despite the poor voice quality.

My DH has a Droid and raved about it so much that when it was time to upgrade last month my daughter and I got the Droid 2 on a buy 1 get 1 free and $100. back promotion. It is fantastic and I love it - the sound quality is the best I've had on a mobile phone and I don't have the problem Jel mentioned. Maybe it's a different model.

I'm very happy with my Blackberry. Doesn't have all the apps that so many other phones have, but I don't really need them. The phone function (it is a phone!) has been great...no dropped calls, etc. No phone gripes at all!
Next time I get "new phone fever" I'll look at all the options...seems that all phones keep getting smarter and smarter. Hopefully I will remain smart enough to figure them out.

I surprised myself a couple of weeks ago by getting an iPhone 4. I've had Windows Mobile smartphones for several years, and have been generally pleased. I especially like the ability to customize settings to the Nth degree, and the fact that there are lots of 3rd-party programs available.

I don't like Apple's policy of keeping such a tight rein on the source code and everything else, and I do like the open-source background of the Android phone, so I just figured I'd get an Android smartphone when my contract was up this month.

Then my sister got the iPhone, and I got a chance to use it. It's really, really nice. It has similar functionality to a high-end Android phone, or to my old Windows Mobile phone. As you would expect, you can get email, use the web, use it as a GPS (either with free Google Maps or Bing, or with a paid application from Garmin, TomTom, etc.). You can use it as an ebook reader (lots of apps). You can use it as a radio, as a camera, watch downloaded video (or video on YouTube), and pretty much everything else you can think of. Functionality of the iPhone and the Android phone I looked at (the Samsung Captivate) were pretty much the same, so that's not why I decided on the iPhone.

I was a little worried about how it would integrate with Google, because I keep my calendar and contacts with Google and just sync to my phone, but it works perfectly. There's a Google app for this, of course.

I finally decided on the iPhone because it was sleeker in looks and more visually appealing in the way it operates. Although the Android phone was terrific, and I'm sure I would have liked it a lot, it looked clunky next to the iPhone.

By the way, if you're worried about the lack of a physical keyboard, as I was, I can tell you that it's a non-issue after about two weeks.

Son in-law has an iphone and daughter has the droid pro and they all love the droid. One thing they noticed is if your on the internet with the droid and a call or text comes in you can answer and go back to internet with no problems with the iphone they can't do that. DD works for verizon store and she said, she's still having more interest in the droid. granddaughter and grandson in-law both have iphones but are switching to droids soon as contract is up.

Droid, especially after all of our tech & engineer friends left iPhone... For those on Verizon, they just discontinued their free phone after 2 yr contracts this past Sunday and iphone service i think is $30 more a month... i have a verizon droid work phone so i guess my employer is stuck buying our next phones in 1.5 yrs LOL, we just renewed. i just left Sprint for Virgin Beyond and glad i did as they just went up $10 a month for 3G thou i paid that for my 4G but not for DH's 3G. ~ liz

Patches_02, going back to the web after a phone call may have been a problem in the past with iPhone, but it's definitely not a problem with the current model that I have.

Bigfoot_liz, all my tech friends prefer the Android OS, too, but if you ask them why, it's usually about (1) "I hate Steve Jobs" and (2) open-source code. (They're related, I know.) And the additional tweaking you can do on an Android, which most people never do, but tech-types do. (I did it, too, and there are a few tweaks I miss, but not much.)

joann, alot of your reasons are why but a few were actually diehard Apple people and after the HTC Incredible came out one switched, raved and convinced the others LOL. android has a zillion more apps right now and lack of USB on apple products doesn't help and most of us are the hacker level so apple is no good there LOL. i'm thinking of the Ipad2 but may not if they don't put a USB on it this time. i am a sucker for new tech toys (like apple products) but have an anti-apple DH and if i ever needed help i'm SOL LOL ;-))) ~ liz

Pros: great apps, fast processor, a cool new toy!!!

Cons: heavy and awkward to hold for calls.

Got it last month, and so far, I love it.

Android Samsung Mesmirize (Fascinate on other carriers) I love it! Got the wife one first as her old phone was dying and even though she is not the most techy (that's my job) she had it all figured out before I even got mine the following week. It looks as sleek as the iPhone, but has several advantages in my book.
1) Has an microSD slot. Comes with a free 16gig card. If I need more, instead of having to buy a new phone, aka iPhone, I can just swap out to the next size of card.
2) Although battery life is great, it is a removable battery, so if you do use it a lot and have battery life issues, you can swap out a spare.

I will give the iPhone credit for the front camera, but that only works in wi-fi zones right now, so I don't consider that a deal breaker. Any app you can find for the iPhone, you can find for the Android. Wish I had the Evo, as it has HDMI out, but the coverage in my area for the carrier is not good. I was thinking about the iPhone for a while, but where I live (Iowa) AT&T's 3G coverage only exists in 4 cities, everywhere else is practically dial-up speeds when surfing. That prompted me to stay with USCellular as they switched to 3G to almost the entire state last May. For me, speed and coverage was the biggest factors. If the iPhone would have been available on USCellular last year, I might have changed my mind. Best feature right now is my desk cradle. I have it beside my bed, and have replaced the alarm clock with it. I can wake up and see the current weather as well as the time.

Bigfoot_Liz, what do you mean about no USB? I connect my iPhone to my PC laptop with a USB cable. (It's a proprietary connection on the iPhone side, though, not a mini-USB.) Or are you talking about the iPad having no USB ports? (That was a stupid call on Apple's part.)

Tell me, what sort of hacking do you do? I did a fair bit on my old Windows Mobile, with the help of the xda-developers forum, but there seems to be enough that I can do on the iPhone that I don't really miss it. (Though as soon as the iPhone is out of warranty, I'll jailbreak it, just for fun.:)

I've had an iPhone for a couple years and have been very happy with it. A lot techie people I know like the android better though they say the iPhone is more intuitive and somewhat easier to use. I work in the IT field and a lot of tech people I work with do have iPhones though.

I have a windows mobile phone with a slideout keyboard for work. I thought I'd like that but I really prefer the iPhone virtual keyboard that appears when you need it and disappears when you don't.

A couple of months ago, I got an LG Verizon Ally...love it.

Love the full browser app, email app links straight to my AOL mail, GPS app, etc.

BUT, the biggest thing was the slideout keyboard with real keys that have separation. I cannot use the touch keyboard because of severe arthritis in my hands.

The IPhone is not "disability friendly" at all.

I have the Android Ally and it is the first 'smartphone' I've ever had. I love it but.. my daughter has the iphone 4 and I wish I had one too. My dream is to have the iphone 4 with Verizon. I consider Verizon to be the best service provider in this area. Hubby says the iphone is too expensive for us right now, maybe later.

The company I work for recently upgraded me to a smartphone (i.e., Blackberry, iPhone, Droid). I started with a Blackberry Curve which would not ring when in my office. That was replaced by another BB Curve and still, would not ring. Probably had more to do with AT&T than anything else so I had to change to Verizon. In the process of the move, I decided to get an iPhone instead of a BB and have found it far superior to the BB. Can't speak of the Droid as I've only had limited access to it.

sorry joann it took me so long to get back, my work puter is shot and internet not consistent, pathetic. anyways i was referring to the Ipad2 w/ the USB, thou no microSD card is a big downfall for me to the iphone too. my friends who did have Iphones did get unlocked ones to hack, not sure what they did but they had them less than a yr before they switched. my official stance on hacking is we only do our phones, games systems, puters, nothing malicious :-) ~ liz

I've had a BB for several years, from a business standpoint it is great, but from talking to folks that want internet functionality and 'fun' apps, stick with the iPhone or the Droid. I traded my world edition in for a Storm a couple of years ago....what a mistake. But still from a functionality position for email and business contact, calendar, etc....it can't be beat.
