Are these safe or should I toss them?

In my frenzy of trying to prep for the lunch gathering tomorrow and goofing off hanging with neighbors at a block party... I managed to boil the eggs and forget them on the counter (covered in the boiling water) for almost 3 hours. Can I still make deviled eggs from them in the morning or should I toss them and start over?

The water was AC room temp cold by the time I discovered them.

Of course, I appreciate any advice while I sit here feeling stupid.

I have hard boiled eggs and left them to cool for a few hours. They will be fine.

I wouldn't give it a thought....they are fine.
But I would consider that in the total time allowed for food to be unrefrigeratered....
In other words.....don't save the leftovers....and keep the completed eggs cold!
BUT....they likely won't peel easily.....
They are eggs....boiled and heated to a safe temp and un peeled....not much chance to intorduce bacteria.

I can't tell you about shell peas but I'll try to answer the sugar snap/ snow pea part. I would chuck the snow peas. They probably will produce but the harvest is likely to be small. The sugar snaps are more heat tolerant and tend to produce more so I say keep them.

Thanks for your reply romy6. I haven't destroyed the plants that have pods with a little black seeds and placenta inside yet. I destroyed other plants that had something more serious. I wasn't sure if I should throw out the pods with a little black inside or keep them. There will be some more ripe pods soon - I will wait to see how they turn out. Since I have other plants that are in good shape, I might just destroy the suspect plants out at the end of the season and throw away the pods.

at a 1.48 each.. its probably not worth the gas back to return them ... back in the day .. i learned more winging it.. like you did ... than i ever did from a book ... no WWW to chicken little me into action ... lol ... they are perennials ... there is no reason they should not come back ... its also hail storm season .. and if you read forums.. you will find many peeps moaning that mother nature did the same as you did ... it might not be a bad idea.. to isolate them somewhere ... treat them ... and plant in fall .. as a newb.. lets be clear... just about everywhere.. but maybe the PNW ... july/august is not a great time to be planting ... yes it can be done ... but dont be surprised if they struggle or fail .. it took me about 20 years in the garden to realize... just because i bought it.. doesnt mean its the right planting season ... and if you dont have 20 to 100 pots for fall planting.. you arent trying very hard... lol ... moving and planting perennials... is done in spring and fall .. for the EASIEST time ... as your experience grows ... you can wing it more... mostly because if you lose them. you shrug and say oh well ... live and learn ... try not to panic in the garden.. it kinda defeats the whole purpose of meditating in the garden .... ken

If the jam is still sealed, it's still safe to eat. However, the quality may not be as good as it was when it was fresh. I just opened a jar of Habanero Gold jam that I made in 2014, that's 3 years old, and it was fine, although the top 1/8 of an inch or so had darkened a little. Jam can spoil, but it will mold or become rancid and it's usually pretty easy to tell if it's bad. Fruit is generally acidic and jam contains copious amounts of sugar, which also acts slightly as a preservative. I wouldn't hesitate to eat it. I have found that lower sugar fruit spreads lose quality more quickly than the full sugar preparations. The pepper/onion relish is a different thing altogether. Both peppers and onions are low acid vegetables. If it's two years old and still sealed, and I knew the recipe and process followed, I'd still be comfortable consuming that. However, without knowing the level of acidification, the ph of the product, the recipe and procedure used and the fact that it isn't heated before using to help avoid contamination, well, I'm not as comfortable with that. The National Center for Home Food Preservation gives a 2 year guideline for storage of home canned food but it's not a safety issue, it's a quality issue. Thanks! I am going to peel and halve them in the morning and make the filling in a plastic freezer bag. All components will be carried up in a cooler (on ice) and I will fill a dozen at a time as needed. Easier than trying to transport 72 already assembled devlied eggs LOLOLOL!

Peel them tonight....I think the peel won't slip off easily and best to discover that tonight than in the AM....

I wouldn't worry either especially considering how many people make eggs for Easter and leave them out for days. (I don't eat them but a lot of people do!) A few hours isn't much different than them being served at a dinner party.

Like the others I think they are AOK and wouldn't worry a bit. I was astounded that in France they don't refrigerate eggs or milk at the grocery stores. They are on regular shelves. Same in Italy.

Thanks everyone! And except for a couple of stubborn ones, they peeled just fine. And I did leave the filling in a freezer zip bag with the empty whites layered in a tupperware bowl (with everything well chilled) and they were fine. We put out a dozen and a time and filled them as we went and they disappeared quickly! No leftovers!
