I've had my Samsung 218's for about six months. I'm impressed with how effortlessly they work. Biggest noise is the water going through the dispenser. The pump may be louder than my old FL maytag, but I think that is because they are on pedestals. Love the pedestals, or at least the height. The pedestals do make the machines look huge.

We are empty nesters so didn't really need all the gadgets. So I was looking at the 328. But I got such a deal on Black Friday that I ended up with the 218. Really all the machine that we need. However, with a family and scrubs it sounds like this will be the machine for you.

Hopefully you'll love your machines. I even had a question about mine and Samsung service was great.

Houserookie check your dryer vent. That may be why it's taking so long for your old dryer to dry. And I'm not talking about just the connection you see behind the dryer but the whole venting unit. All the way to the outside and the cover screen. That may be why your old dryer is not working. If so, a new dryer will not work any better. Dryer vent clogs are a leading cause of house fires.

We got the samsung 448s about 1 month ago and LOVE IT !!
Sears guy told us to only use 1 - 2 tablespoons of soap and he reccomeneded powder. The refresh on the dryer works great Ive unwrinked shirts nicely.
Im still trying to figure out the sanitize option on the dryer. Not sure when that should be used if weve sanitized in the wash ? anyone know ?
I use the pedestals for dirty laundry it works great.

I'm so glad you all had good experience with Samsung W/D. Like I said, I can't wait until they are here. I'll be doing some serious laundering... So, can you guys tell the difference in the whites? I've tried just about everything with DH's white T-shirts, they still come out off-white...

Laundry was such a chore for me, I hope this machine will make it more fun.

I was thinking about what mom1234 said about the sanitize option in the dryer. I was thinking that I would use the steam in the dryer for DH's suits. He wears them every weekend, and I could also use it for some of the fancy dresses my baby wears to church, that are clean, but have been used once or twice for short period of time.

Does anybody know if we can put winter sweaters in the dryer w/ steam? Will this cause them to shrink?

Now, about the dryer vent: how do I check to see if it is clogged?

I have the 328's and love them. Looked at the ones with steam options, but couldn't justify the extra $$ for them. And then the hassle with hooking water up to the dryer for the steam. But again, I do love my 328's. Quiet, cleans good (I use the silvercare for my scrubs also) and have not had one pair of jeans to come out wrinkled!

I think you will be quite happy with your choice of machines. The only thing I really did not like was that the silver care option is a cold water wash only, warm would have been nice to help dissolve the detergent properly. As housefairy suggested, your current dryer vent make have a blockage or restriction. Get yourself a flexible dryer vent brush and clean out the entire length of the vent. If you can't reach the entire distance to clean it out, there are companies out there that do this sort of thing for a fair price. Hope this helps.

silver care is not cold water only I use it all the time in warm and hot.They just advertise it can disinfect in cold as a selling feature I guess.
As for hooking up the steam to dryer it took 2 seconds its just a y off the hose one side goes to wash one to dryer simple.
I use the steam refresh for clothing like you mentioned but there is also a separate option for sanitize and I cant figure that one out yet ( dryer) .

in fact when you choose the bedding cycle it uses silver care and steam together with hot water.

I got the 448 set yesterday. So far I've done 6 loads of laundry and the set works very nicely! I bought the pedestals too. I haven't tried using the steam feature. The installer turned it on in the dryer to show me it works though.

I'm very excited about the steam feature. I've read some comments here that were very skeptical about steam. But I think it IS a good thing, especially if you have to care for suits and stuff like that that should not be washed all the time - (steam in the dryer). And the steam feature in the washer I hear is great for stain removal. And if you have babies around attracting stains wherever they go, than I think steam could be your new best friend!

I feel like I've learned so much the past few days just by reading tons of posts. I found out I really don't know how to do laundry correctly (as far as temp, products, etc). I did not know that your washer could get atherosclerosis (build up of fatty material :D ) and that your clothes could suffer from overweight problem (accumulation of chemical residues)!

I just ordered some Charlie's Soap yesterday, and I am planning on buying some white vinegar too. Now, is the white vinegar the one you buy for cooking, in the cooking aisle? Any brands that you recommend?

I just want to do this thing right from the start. I don't want to end up w/ a smelly W/D or smelly clothes.

When we had a Samsung with silver care it was only available during a cold wash, if you were in any cycle other than a cold wash you couldn't turn the feature on, of course this was when they first came out, I bet that samsung changed their design due to complaints from consumers, good for them, a company that actually puts features into their machines that the consumer wants. Thanks for showing me the error of my ways:-) I learn something new everyday.

there are a few quirks I wish they would fix like if your load end and the washer turns off you have to power up to get the light to turn on rather than having it just come on when you open the door. Also unless I am missing something when one load ends and I want to put antoher in immediatly I have to power off then back on to start another load. Not a huge deal just annoying.

I read allot of people saying how the tops of these platinum machine scratched up so I bought two clear desk pad things I got at staples and put one on top of each just to keep them nice.

Purchase the whirlpool folding table for the top works great. We do not have the pedestals. Makes for a great top and no scrathes.
