I've been at my current place now for 7 years, and only get afternoon sun, starting from 1pm to dusk. I have all planters on the back deck with this kind of sunlight, and even though it's full on sun for that many hours, I can't get snapdragons to flower or petunias to flourish (amongst the sun/part sun flowers I tried). My neighbor, who only gets morning sun, grows almost anything she wants/doesn't want! So, from what I've observed in my envy that if you can get a few hours of morning sun, with the exception of very strong sun lovers, you can grow whatever you like. I would give zinnias a try, and I've seen cosmos UNDER TREES flourish, because they get that early morning sun. I have also noticed that a local shop had some nice dark purple vincas in window boxes that did well and that only got morning sun. Only shade plants work for me ever, plus browallias, torenias, lobelias, fushias and coleus. Surprisingly, sage was very happy, so that may be something to consider as a textural thing. Post a picture at the end of the season for us!

Scott/Olpea, have you ever tried the peaches from the University of Arkansas program? White County (low acid) and White River (normal acid) seem pretty promising from this study. Both are resistant to bacterial spot. White County is also pretty resistant to peach scab (8%,0%, and 0% impact in 3 years). It also describes it (and White Rock, an early cling) as getting 'occasional brown rot', but not in most years. It doesn't detail out White River's susceptibility, but it does say that WR has an overall health rating of 9.7 vs WC's 8.7 (10 point scale). It list the brix for both at over 13 (higher than Redhaven's 12.3).

Also have them check the underside of your evaporator coil. Don't know how long you have owned the house, but a previous owners lack of filter changes or in some cases running the sytem with no filters at all can cause dust combined with water to clog the coil. Never a waste of money to maintain a system, and if the outdoor coil is dirty it indeed needs to be cleaned. However, beware of the words "tune up" If it indeed "should" include cleaning the outdoor coil, make sure the coil requires cleaning and for 249 bucks...that they actually DO it! A simple inspection on your own can determine the extent to which it is dirty. Generally dirt will tend to accumulate near the bottom of a condenser coil first and the dirt will be on the OUTSIDE - visible without removing a screw. If you are in a dusty area of course it is more apt to be dirty. There are usually approximately 4 to 6 screws required to be removed at the top of most condensing units at which point the top fan assembly will lift off. Aside from the electrical wires hindering complete removal of the top without disconnecting them, usually near full access is then available to blow the coil out with an air hose from the inside out. Not high tech stuff, and 249 bucks just for that operation seems a little stiff. Cleaning the inside blower, unless it is extremely dirty isn't rocket science either. All in all it sounds like a call I might perform for about half of that. Maybe the inside work also includes the underside of the indoor evaporator coil. That can be a pain in the a** if it's dirty. I'd check around, but no .... having these things done isn't a waste of money.

Not a big deal, picked up some guages on CL and bought a book. How long, I mean really how long can it take to clean the drain pan and A coil? When quotes reached $750 my wife and I took care of it, took us 1.5 hours. This included cleaning the squirrel cage in the handler and vaccing out the plenum, and checking suction and discharge pressures. I do automotive A/C so the only dofference is this one isn't mobile. How about the quote to replace a 2.5T system? $8500 I think not. Buy a nice Bryant on eBay for two grand free ship R&R might take a day with a helper. "Experienced" hvac guy said buy three ton system 'it'll cool faster' I brought up the J manual he never heard of this. You'll also need ducts I said they're a year new and insulated he shut up. Really this hvac stuff ain't that big of a deal and there are more people willing to work for short money as they find themselves self-unemployed.
