My DIL loves to make lavender flavored lemonade.

I have a huge Meyer lemon tree and I generally make mine the same way.
And I recently got some culinary lavender in our community supported agriculture (CSA) box so I am going to give it a try.
I finally bought an electric citrus juicer........we have lemons all year long....hundreds of them.

I'm not sure why this is a "recipe". Make a simple syrup, add lemon juice, water and grated rind to taste. What's sweet to you might be way too sweet for me. Adding grated rind always is an enhancement.

I once made a very delicious lemon-lime drink. I used simple syrup, fresh lemon and lime juice and seltzer water. I don't recall the exact amounts.

sushipup, it's called a recipe because it gives ingredients, and directions on how to make lemonade. :) And you can always alter the recipe to your liking.

I just never thought anyone needed a recipe. Like boiling water or making toast!

We had this one regularly last summer. We quite enjoy it.

Flavoured Iced Tea

4 cups boiling water
4 tea bags
1/2 cup sugar----or to desired sweetness
2 cups cranberry juice
1 cup orange juice
1/4 cup lemon juice

Steep tea bags 5 minutes and discard. Dissolve sugar and add remaining ingredients.

Jasdip, that sounds good! I've never made iced tea from scratch. I want to make some this summer. I used to be able to find a bottled iced tea that tasted like real tea and as soon as I got hooked on it, Pepsi stopped making it!

There IS a first for everything, even as simple as boiling water and also making toast!

How To Boil Water:

Boiling water is very easy to do, but it is crucial to many meals, such as cooking rice and Pasta.

Choose a pot that's large enough to hold the amount of water you want to boil, and has a lid that fits.

You might be tempted to use water that's already warm or hot from the tap, but this water has been sitting in your pipes for some time, getting stale. Use cold water if you're going to drink it or cook with it.

DonâÂÂt fill the pot all the way up. Keep in mind that anything you add to the boiling water will increase the volume, and plus, youâÂÂll need to allow room for those bubbles to do their thing. Without enough room in the pot, for example, rice or pasta will boil over.

Place the pot on the stove and turn the heat to high. If you want to speed up the process, put a cover on it

Check for steam escaping from under the lid, then lift the lid carefully to see how the water is doing.

Look at the water. If large bubbles are rising from the bottom of the pot to the surface, the water is boiling. NOTE: Small bubbles that stay at the bottom or sides of the pot are air bubbles present in the water; they don't necessarily indicate that boiling is imminent. Wait for bubbles that rise to the top of the pot.

Making toast? There are different ways to prepare toast.

My way is baked. I don't care for toast under the broiler, or toast from a toaster. I prefer to butter my bread first with softened butter, then baked in the oven.

Ingredients
⢠2 slices of bread
⢠butter⢠jam, marmalade or other toppings
To prepare your toast
⢠Start by getting your toppings ready
⢠Get your butter out of the fridge so it can come up to room temperature
⢠Get your jam or marmalade out of the fridge or cupboard
⢠Get your plate and knife ready

To cook your toast
⢠If youâÂÂre using a toaster, set the control for how dark you want the toast to be before you put it in, push the button down and the toast will pop up when itâÂÂs ready
⢠If using the grill, preheat to high
⢠Once itâÂÂs nice and hot, put your slices of bread under the grill to toast
⢠Keep an eye on it and when youâÂÂve got a good colour, carefully pull them out and flip the slices over with some tongs
⢠Toast on the other side until perfect

To serve your toast
⢠When your toast is how you like it, pop it straight on the plate and get spreading your favourite toppings while itâÂÂs still hot

I should print off your recipes Glenda as I don't think my husband knows or has ever boiled water or made toast. He has buttered bread before though.

I was never taught how to fry bacon, and learned the hard way when I caught the skillet on fire and turned to the sink to put it out with water and caught the kitchen curtains on fire.

First time I ever fried chicken it was raw. Same thing with liver.

Glenda, I Jasdip, you posted a nice cold refreshing summer drink recipe I've never seen. It would be a nice change from lemonade......... which I should make before my lemons turn... :)

I've never gone to such an effort to be sarcastic as above. I do agree with sushipup, though.

On the other comment, I think there's no excuse for anyone to not be able to cook for themself. That's like not knowing how to take out the trash or pick up the dog poop in the backyard - so long as someone else is hoodwinked into thinking only they can do such "work", the inconsiderate, "helpless" person will gladly sit back and watch someone else do it.

Don't see any sarcasm, just making a statement that you if you don't know how to do something, there is a recipe for it.

Or ask and someone will be glad to answer or find the answer. No sarcasm needed. Just the facts!

Glenda, instructions like that can come in handy for someone who has never spent time in the kitchen. My own mother tells stories of her earliest attempts at cooking....including NOT knowing how to boil water....a fact that my dad verified.

My grandmother never let anyone in her kitchen; her four daughters never saw the inside of an oven until they were faced with the daunting task of having to cook for a husband.
