Well, I finally got through to my DIL last night. She said that they called the doctor about the fever and he said to wait and see if it continued and then call him back if it did. She said that it gets high, they give tylenol, then it goes down, then repeats the cycle. I told her if it keeps coming back there is an infection somewhere, and it could be because of the operation or just a cold or something. She said that Tristin was pretty quiet and lethargic yesterday after spending the day before that just crying. I told her to monitor that temp and not to be shy about calling the doctor back. If it continues today, to CALL HIM BACK. We will see how it goes today. Sherry

Yup, I've got one now. I cough a lot since I have asthma and I live on a dirt road where avoiding dust is impossible, on top of my regular allergies. Two years ago I was laying on my back watching TV in bed. Not a good position to be coughing. All of a sudden I had a very heavy cough, felt a weird pain at the top of my abdomen. I put my hand there and there was an egg size bump. It didn't hurt after it popped out but I still went to the doctor. He said my hernia is around scar tissue where I had surgery there 10 years earlier and it's common for that to happen. He said most people just live with it unless it causes problems. And he told me about the mesh surgery but said I would be a good candidate to get the hernia AGAIN since I'm a cougher. The only time it hurts is if I bump it into something, like leaning over the washing machine getting clothes out which hurt like He!! and I never did that again. So I'm keeping an eye on it and if it starts to feel strange in the least I'll have it fixed. But I'm sure my hernia is way different from umblical hernias.

For example 99213 is a level 3 office visit for about 1/2 hour of the doctors time. Some surgeries & diagnosis will have 1 main code to cover the procedure. For example pregnancy. All the routine visits & delivery are paid in 1 negotiated sum. In your case, I have no idea how they will bill it, or if there might be complications or aftercare. I can guarantee there will be lots of CPT codes billed. Now not every CPT code billed has a charge attached, but the more CPT codes used explains to billing what was done & why the main CPT code indicating time was used. For example, the office visit 99213 should usually accompany another code since the doctor was supposed to be with the patient for 1/2 hour, so it doesn't look fishy. Doctors are routinely audited for using too many of the same CPT codes or using a higher CPT code than necessary so they get a larger check. I knew one doctor who's license was suspended for over billing insurance companies. So, I'm not sure how they will calculate your surgery. I had an inguinal hernia when I was in the navy, it was free. It hurt terrible for a couple days and hold a pillow on your stomach if you caugh or sneeze. Good to hear. As far as closing up it means exactly what it states. An example of what happens is to put your forefinger on your thumb them make a tight fist. This is the example I was given when my esophagus spasms.
