Distance between window and sink counter? Pictures, please!
Comments (16)I'm sure that you've made your decision already, but in case anyone else out there is still contemplating, we have the Ticor S405D and our window comes down to the counter with no bumpout. We don't have any issues with splashing- occasionally it happens if we're washing something very large, but it is certainly uncommon. Also with our granite countertops, we have no gaps that are in danger of water, should splashing occur. I suspect that having gaps is more of a function of poor workmanship than anything else. I researched the counterheight windows extensively before we put them in, and have seen many threads on them afterwards, and the post above is the only one I've ever seen that states that water or gaps are an issue....See Morekitchen sink not centered with window, issues with 24' sink base?
Comments (9)hi, i'm kind of wondering whether you've thought about how big a sink you need or want, first. you mentioned that it's a good size kitchen, so maybe you'd want at least a "standard" size of 33". there are a lot more choices, too. single bowl vs. double is a whole other debate! i'm getting a 24" sink, but i have a small kitchen. also two other thoughts: many people seem to center their sinks with regard to where the panes are in the window so they aren't looking right into one. sometimes they even place the sink faucet centered on the window, but off-center from the sink to make it look symmetrical. there are a lot of threads on this subject too. i'll look for the one i'm thinking of with good photos. or you can google "gardenweb kitchen window sink centered", or something like that. the other is the 33" lazy susan. i was considering one of these, but someone mentioned the door is pretty small. if i understand your layout correctly, your corner cabinet is open on the back to a walkway. garenweb member buehl turned a regular cabinet backward to be accessed from the walkway side so you have full access to the cabinet. that's pretty hard for me to explain, so i will link the thread. anyway, it's seems more useful than a corner susan if you can do it. then you will also have 9" extra to distribute to a sink base or the the far drawers. good luck! Comments (14)We have the vintage sink with drainboard. The dw is on the non drainboard side and an 18" cab is under the drainboard. Originally, I had a 24" sink base and a 24" cab next to it, but I changed that to a 30" sink base and 18 cab at the last minute. With the 30" sink cab, we could shift the sink top in several directions, so it gave us room to play before templating the counters. I'd suggest a smaller sink base and a larger cab or the usable cab space will be so minimal at 7". I don't have a pic of that at the moment, but can take one later when I am home. It never occurred to be to have the sink cab as wide as our entire sink. I just treated the sink part as a normal sink and knew the drainboard would overlap the adjoining cab. If it helps, we love our sink with drainboard and the only way we'd have loved it more was if it had the 2 drainboards, lol. We got our for free in excellent condition on freecycle, so we are counting ourselves as very lucky. I'd have paid a bit for it!...See MorePlease post pictures of kitchen sinks without a window
Comments (48)i love the idea of an illuminated shelf. ours is NOT an interior kitchen, but we're in triple decker victorian land in boston. neighbors are *right there* and our kitchen is on the second floor. we have a big double glass door at the back of the kitchen that allows for plenty of light....See Morepalimpsest
