Anyone having problem printing just one recipe?

I used to be able to block and print just one recipe from a thread for quick use. Now print selection is no longer available. I have tried it on two printers and they both don't print or give me that option. Anyone else having tht problem? I used to be able to do this but something changed. This is also happenign on some other sites. Is this web site specific or my printers?

Try highlighting what you want first, then going to print. Is "selection' available then?

It isn't site specific. The print selection box doesn't bring up the "print range" option anymore? What does it have in it?

Florence, My pages jump - well, roll really up and then down then up again, everytime I load them. Makes dealing with the site very difficult for me. It's also very difficult for me to read since I have problems with adjusting my eyes. Occasionally I get multiple print on websites and I don't ever know why. Usually it goes away if I reboot. I wish the pages would just behave! Carlota

At the risk of being tagged a "troll", here's my two cents on this old thread. I've had an empty box of Jules Destrooper's Almond Thins on my computer desk for several months to remind me to look again to see if anyone has developed a recipe and put it online. (I tried it a couple of times myself at first but the results were, well, disappointing.) I found this thread on today's Google search. I don't know anything about Trader Joe's similar cookies, as we don't have that supermarket chain in the New Orleans area, but the list of ingredients in the Destrooper butter almond cookie is clearly different from the "Destrooper" recipe linked above at Yahoo! Answers: INGREDIENTS: WHEAT FLOUR, BROWN SUGAR, BUTTER, ALMONDS, SALT. (Listed in that order.) Of note: no egg, no vanilla. The only sources of moisture in the genuine Destrooper's are the brown sugar and the butter and I'm guessing I could try a dozen more times before I figured out the proportions and baking technique that would work. (I'm an OK cook but not that much of a baker.) Perhaps "WHEAT FLOUR" is how folks in Belgium refer to "whole wheat flour" but I'm not thinking this is the critical difference, at least vis-a-vis Destrooper's (versus Trader Joe's). I'm thinking that adding egg and vanilla and omitting the molasses flavor of the brown sugar would tend to make a very different cookie, regardless of the proportions of other ingredients and the baking technique. I'll let you know if I ever figure it out...

Ok... after reading more I realize we have a few more splurges that had not occurred to me at the time. Tomatoes on the vine or any good garden type tomato. I cannot abide a thick skinned mealy supermarket kind. Any San Marzano tomatoes for sauce work fine. It must be the soil or that water.... Sangria jelly, whenever I can find it. It is ridiculously good. The smoked whitefish spread at Costco. We have that in our house at all times. If cheese were less fattening, I'd have a whole fridge dedicated to it. As it is, I splurge on "eating cheese" (as opposed to cheese for cooking or grated cheeses) when we have guests. I love the horseradish cheddar kind or the champagne cheddar and any good asiago variety is my fave. I nibble it to try to make it last. I think I lived on a half cheese diet when pregnant as it was one of the few things that did not turn my stomach. Virginia ham is also a little splurge as it is usually more expensive than other kinds. It tastes like deli ham is supposed to taste to me. The other kinds are ok,and I'll buy them when they are much lower, but Virginia style is superior. German sausages from the German butcher are also a splurge. They carry the good European bread to go with their amazing cold cuts. I count what I buy there as eating out prices, and consider it lucky that we are not tipping for it, lol. I guess it is a way to justify those prices for eating at home and having it cost so much, lol....I don't even know what the price per lb is and prefer not to know. It is the one time I don't know prices out of everything else I do in life and hope to never know as it would ruin it for me. I get a large bag of stuff and it is spread out over several meals, but is probably our largest splurge, only done once in a while..... We do only drink imported beer and since most domestic is so awful, don't even consider that a splurge. It is a necessity to drink the better quality. After becoming used to German/Austrian beer over there, it is impossible to accept less. It sounds snobby, but if anyone did a side by side comparison, they'd forgive us ;) Luckily, we don't drink quantity. Often, dh and I will split a beer with dinner just to accompany certain foods. Our fave wine is a German reisling by Schmitte Sonne, which has a screw top, so is not crazy expensive, but it does cost more than many other whites we could buy instead. Since we buy by the case, we cut the costs some. It is always a hit when we bring some as a hostess gift.

Terri, I think that this might work... The dough hold it's shape and you could leave out the chocolate chips. They are very good...that much is for sure! Refrigerate the dough and just roll out. WORLD PEACE COOKIES Dorie Greenspan Deeply chocolaty World Peace Cookies will be a hit, either passed after dinner or as a gift. Servings: Makes about 36 cookies \-\-These cookies, the brainchild of Parisian pastry chef Pierre Herm with whom Dorie Greenspan wrote "Desserts by Pierre HermÃ©," caused Greenspan's neighbor, Richard Gold, to say that a daily dose of these is all that is needed to ensure planetary peace and happiness. You can't eat just one. The salt is important to the taste; don't skimp on it. Ingredients: 1 1/4 cups all\-purpose flour 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 stick plus 3 Tbsps. (11 Tbsps. altogether) unsalted butter, at room temperature 2/3 cup packed light\-brown sugar 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. fleur de sel or 1/4 tsp. fine sea salt 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract 5 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped into chips, or a generous 3/4 cup store\- bought mini chocolate chips 1\. Sift flour, cocoa and baking soda together. 2\. Working with a stand mixer, preferably fitted with a paddle attachment, or with a hand mixer in a large bowl, beat butter on medium speed until soft and creamy. Add both sugars, salt and vanilla extract and beat 2 minutes longer. 3\. Turn off mixer. Pour in dry ingredients; drape a kitchen towel over stand mixer to protect yourself and your kitchen from flying flour and pulse the mixer at low speed about 5 times, a second or two each time. Take a peek \-\- if there is still a lot of flour on the surface of the dough, pulse a couple more times; if not, remove the towel. Continuing at low speed, mix for about 30 seconds longer, just until the flour disappears into the dough \-\- for the best texture, work the dough as little as possible once the flour is added, and don't be concerned if the dough looks a little crumbly. Toss in the chocolate pieces and mix only enough to incorporate. 4\. Turn dough out onto a work surface, gather it together and divide it into half. Working with half at a time, shape dough into logs that are 11/2 inches in diameter. Wrap logs in plastic wrap and refrigerate them for at least 3 hours. (The dough can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months. If you've frozen the dough, you needn't defrost it before baking \-\- just slice the logs into cookies and bake 1 minute longer.) 5\. When ready to bake, center a rack in the oven and preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment or silicone mats. 6\. Using a sharp, thin knife, slice logs into rounds that are 1/2 inch thick. (The rounds may crack as you're cutting them; don't be concerned, just squeeze the bits back onto each cookie.) Arrange rounds on baking sheets, leaving about 1 inch between them. 7\. Bake cookies 1 sheet at a time for 12 minutes. They won't look done nor will they be firm, but that's just the way they should be. The selection option is not available, grayed out. Printing the range of pages sometimes prints a small page different than screen. I was trying to print the oatmeal pancake recipe, finally just wrote it down. Mikie liked them! LOL.

Can you Highlight and Save it in Micro Soft Works or whatever you use,
Then print it from there.???

That's what I've tried to do and it works in some cases. In some it does change it quite a bit but that's OK. Just more inconvenient.

Have you tried re-booting your computer and see if the original settings return? Sometimes I lose all sounds on mine and I have to restart the whole thing. Then all is fine.

I just tried to highlight and print selection on several recipes on CF and it's not working for me either. Yet I can go to other sites and it still works just fine.

I think that they have changed some settings on our site...

If you copy paste into Word - sometimes it messes up the format. However you can get around that by doing this: Edit - Paste Special - Unformatted text.

You probably need to reinstall your printer software. Something has apparently made the printer program burp and it's lost an important function.

Has anything changed on your computer - are you using a new browser, or have you installed any other new software, did you install any updates - Windows, IE, etc? Something like that could be interfering, or an update, especially to the browser, could have disabled that function.

You do need to shut your computer down every week, let it rest for 30 seconds or so, and restart it so the cache will be cleaned out. If the cache is full, it will interfere with programs.

Works for me. I just highlighted a recipe and went to File and clicked print and selection and it printed out fine.

I keep it all in my Recipe software, so I import it, and print from there when I need to.

I've updated critical updates on my vista laptop and not on my xp desk computer but have experienced the problem on both of them. I usually turn off my desktop daily and my laptop almost daily. I got it to print a recipe from GF with no problem yesterday, so maybe I might have been highlighting it incorrectly, who knows? FYI, the only thing I have not done is install new drivers on my printers, the desktop has a laser printer that has had thesame drivers for a few years now and I had to fix or reinstall the drivers for my inkjet printer because it wasn't happy with me, said itwas not completely installed although I had been using it for a few months before it started to pout. So put the CD in again and redid it to stop the popups, which they did. But that was a couple of weeks before I experienced this printing problem. Anyway, for now I will copy to Works and print from there until that program pouts. I live and learn. Thanks all..
