Show us your seasonal decor

I thought it would be fun to see how folks in different parts of the country or world prepare their homes for the changing seasons. Here in the Northeast there is a vast difference in weather for each of the four seasons, so for many, our seasonal decor changes with the arrival of each one.

Please show us yours...either indoors or out!

I'll leave these up through Thanksgiving. The weekend after Thanksgiving is when I decorate for the winter holidays. The grapevine stays up year 'round...I just decorate around it.

Your decor is lovely, I love your black door and your other house colors....
Mine is not done yet, but it will be fun to see this thread transition into holiday mode...

Very, very nice. I never would have thought of using the white twinkle lights on the door swag but they look great. I think I'll copy you next year (well, they do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.) And what a good idea to have the fall plaid on the chair too. Thanks for showing us your pictures mrsmarv.

Here is a link for some ideas. Jeesh Oceana, you are the one for posting pics. Not sure what your shed looks like or the size. My shed is probably as disorganized as yours right now. Garden comes first and keep getting waylaid to work on the amount of organization needed inside my shed. One the my favorite ideas on the link is the magnetic holder. Great idea for throwing a tool up, rather than finding the right holder. There should be something available to hold both large and small tools...perhaps not too much expense. Right now it is big nails and different pots, baskets holding stuff...somewhere if they can be found. Since my shed is not finished on the inside, the raw framing actually comes in handy. Shelving can be put up by making shelf supports from cutting wood on an angle and screwing into side of wood. Any size needed and then adding shelves. Never been a fan of plastic or metal shelving. They never seem to last or better ones beyond the cost of value. Prefer the wood and being able to create what/where it is needed. And darn these sheds, so easy to just dump things in there. We have one at the foot of DS2's room. It holds extra blankets. I have NO IDEA what happened to the color in this photo--- the real color is a medium grayish gold, and the Ikat fabric is cream and olive green. (It is the same fabric, just reverse sides.) For context, here is the other side of the room: There is an English dresser made of dark scrubbed pine, and a desk we had made for the room with a leather Parson's chair and a club chair by the window with a small leather ottoman. This is the desk: It's an eclectic mix of new and old, and the trunk fits in pretty well.

I have edited a lot of my seasonal decor but still have more than I used this year so must edit more. I used to have 12 totes of Christmas decor (as well as trees) but found that large totes take more space than boxes and can get heavy so went back to storing in small cardboard boxes. These fit well in my 'secret' storage closet which is behind the closet in the guest bedroom. Fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving decor is in 4 large totes. Easter has one and I'm going to give most of that away as I only use it when the Grands come. Otherwise I use a few spring-like decor items but not specific to Easter. Much of my decorative accessories are not in totes or boxes but in closets where I can see what I have and choose what to decorate with. All vases, candlesticks, urns, trans-seasonal items are on shelves. It's important to me to keep these items out of bins and on shelving where I can easily choose what to use. My house has many storage closets as we planned for that before building. However, any clothes closet can be fitted with shelves which would work similarly. IMO too many bins often means "out of sight, out of mind" and those items seldom see the light of day. No point in having things one never uses. Of course it's taken me decades to come to this POV! :D

NHB: it is fine dining and the most special part is the farm to table aspect. Almost all of his suppliers are a few minutes away. Meats, poultry and vegetables, cheese etc all come from right in the area. He is thrilled , to say the least. You can check their blog on the website and see his latest menus and the wine dinner menu. He actually went to the farm that supplies the ducks and geese and he and the owner did the slaughtering right before Thanksgiving. He was able to get tons of fat from the ducks and is in " confit heaven" LOL. Bonnie, caminnc and sandy.....oh my what gorgeous pics. So serene. Beautiful . tina: we travelled up there to see them several times in the year they were there but not in the dead of winter. We loved the area. I am really looking forward to seeing the beautiful scenery of his new location. c

I can't find it now but it was a pix of my (now passed on) Irish setter, lying outside in the snow with a Santa Cap on his head, next to two deer legs. It said Happy Holidays and we used it for a card one year.
Can you tell we are somewhat eccentric?

Here are some pics of mine, this is my first Christmas in this house and also my first Christmas tree so it's a little bare looking :-) Basically I just added alot of red to the rooms, I was pretty lazy this year and didn't get around to draping garlands, etc, LOL.

Gorgeous pictures everyone. Gives me a very warm and cozy feeling. I love all the naturals used. I decorate a little more contemporary in shades of purple.
