anyone have wellborn light maple cabinets?

ok- so I thought I am finally close to choosing cabinets and a color. Anyone have wellborn light maple cabinets? If you do, can you please PLEASE share your photographs. after reading posts about regrets and choosing between maple and white, I am having second thoughts myself and may want white.

I'm sorry you didn't get any responses. We seem to be the only ones on here getting Wellborn. (I responded to your previous post about Wellborn). I ordered painted maple in the Divinity finish . They are due to be installed this month.

I seriously considered getting the natural maple. The only reason I didn't is because I didn't think I would like them next to the old pine floors (that run throughout the house). I like more of a contrast. I considered a darker oak, but thought it would make the room dreary - kitchen is only 10 x 12 and all wall space will be completely fitted with cabs. The wood work in my house is white, except doors which are pretty dark wood, so the maple would have been very different from the rest of the house.

On the other hand, I am not in love with all the white kitchens I see on GW, I like color. One of my favorites here belongs to berf, who used natural cherry and a stone-looking vinyl floor.

I hope I haven't bored you to tears. Good luck with a tough decision.

I have wellborn maple cabinets. I'm not sure of the finish, I'd have to check. I think mine is more medium. Here they are:

In Kitchen:

In MB (same wellborn cabinets, same finish)

I've used Wood Kote jel'd stain successfully many times over the years, but always on bare stripped wood. I seems to me that if you put it over a finished surface it would just look muddy. -Babka

did you reach out to the contractor that did the work? They are the ones that should follow up and get replacement parts for you. I have been selling Wellborn Forest Cabinets for 30 years and they have had their ups and downs, but they have always taken care of any issues any of my customers have ever had. I have Wellborn Forest Cabinets in my house for almost 10 years now and they look as good today as they looked wnen they were installed. All the drawers are as smooth as silk, the doors have never needed to be adjusted after initial adjustment, which should be done as part of the installation. I read alot of complaints that are unfounded about this cabinet company and it isn't fair to them. I sell thousands of Wellborn Forest cabinets and the isuues are few and far between, and most of the time they are shipping or installation issues and are replaced no questions asked when I submit claims. Wellborn Forest is a top notch A+ better business bureau company and doesn't deserve the bashing that a few unsatisfied people are posting. Most of those are not going through the proper channels to get satisfaction.

I have painted maple Mid Continent in my laundry room and I'm glad I didn't go with them in my kitchen. Granted, they made me sign that I would be able to see the joinery gaps, etc. in the finish (and boy, can I!) but I also have painted maple Shiloh and I don't see any of my joinery in the finish. Mid Continent made me sign a form basically telling me that I would not be happy with the finish whereas Shiloh did not. That should have been a clue. Admittedly, this is a soft white painted finish; maybe other shades are better executed?

I am also considering Wellborn but I am just in the shopping phase. In price they seem comparable to Kraftmaid but one dealer's opinion was that they were a better quality cabinet. I also want a painted cabinet but I have not yet seen the Wellborn cabinets in person to compare the finishes.

maureeninmd -- can you tell how you decided on Wellborn?

mom2sethc- I love your kitchen. If you ever find out which color it is please let me know. Wellborn does have colors called "light maple" and "medium maple" I thought the medium maple would make my kitchen look to dark but whatever color you have- looks great

maureeninmd- I have read good things about wellborn. good luck with remodel. I just looked up divinty and I think its an off white. Another color I am considering!! Please do share photos when the cabinets are in....

Very nice mom2sethc, I love that maple with the green walls.

odiegirl13 - My GC recommended them. He says they are very good quality for the price. He actually specializes in historic restoration, not kitchens, but my kitchen needs so much work - heating (removing giant radiator and replacing with a different type), electric, modifying a window, plastering, asbestos removal, etc - that I couldn't pay too much for cabinets. He knew where he could get a good deal and has ordered cabinets for my tricky 10 x 12 room (2 windows, 3 doors) for under 9 k. (not including his installation fees).
