I am dealing with this situation as well. I want a complete full overlay look and I do not like the look of the 36" farmhouse sink in a 39" base with the cabinet frame exposed around it. I prefer the look of the 36" sink in a 36" base cabinet so the edge of the sink lines up with the cabinet door edge. It's a cleaner look. Our sink is under mounted so won't the countertop be able to sit on the sink as support since the sink has supports under it that braces onto the cabinet base? Our cabinet guys is thinking we should have a 9" pull out to match the look of the 9" corner section on the right of our sink. I get that it will keep it symmetrical, but I personally do not think it is necessary. I have seen them before right next to each other and I prefer the look and on top of it, it save buying an extra cabinet since 2 smaller cabinets is much more than one larger cabinet the same total width. I guess the other argument is that when the dishwasher is open you see a space? Can someone explain this more or have a photo of this so I can decide if this will bother me? If so I guess we could do the 3/4" end panel instead of the 9" pull out, but I'm thinking then you will have a weird spacer you will notice with everything else being full overlay. Suggestions and comments if I am missing something.

Thanks! I love those fully-Fez-tiled kitchen photos - they are the main reason that stainless steel shelving is still in the running. I agree that the industrial style faucet has more personality. I think that's the appeal, as long as it doesn't clash with the rest of what we're doing. I'm afraid of veering too modern and I'm unsure of myself, lol. The reason I don't want to use pulls that screw in from the front is that ikea cabinet doors and drawer fronts have veneered particleboard center panels, where some of our pulls will be placed. Screwing into hardwood might hold up ok even though they'd be getting tugged, but that would definitely not work for particleboard - the scews would fall right out. We need to have something screwed in from the back.

Spring if I understand your question correctly I have my (all Waterstone brand for faucet, sprayer and insta-hot faucet) faucet (single hole with integrated handle) centered behind my sink, the insta-hot to the left of the faucet, and my sprayer to the right of my faucet. I opted not to have a soap dispenser, and all handles for the faucets are on the right which I like for my faucet but probably should have put on the left for my insta-hot as I find it a little awkward to turn it on overtop of my hand holding the mug/pan/whatever, I just liked the symmetry of both handles on the same side. I'm right handed btw. I have a single bowl soapstone sink and the holes are all in the countertop behind the sink. One of the biggest considerations is if the faucet will fit between the sink and the wall and if the handle and the profile of the faucet will be able to operate freely without hitting the wall or any sort of window sill above it. Don't forget to figure in the thickness of a backsplash to that equation. This is not the best pic, but hopefully you can see the set up. They are all evenly spaced. Kat :)

just wanted to commiserate with you on the plumbing problems. We have an old house were the plumbing was added later. They dug under one end of the house about 10x10 with an exterior entrance, and all the plumbing was put on that corner. We wanted to put in a bathroom closer to the bedrooms and move the kitchen, so we had to run the pipes under what would be the new bathroom floor. Kitchen sink had to be installed on the same wall as the bathroom sink, with the pipes and drain/venting going through the wall into the bathroom cabinet, then down into the floor. As it was, the distance was almost too long for the drop and to still be able to hook up to the outgoing line. That would have required a lift pump in the cellar, not something we wanted to consider. This is the bathroom side of the wall. If we ever have problems, our cheapest solution will be to hand dig a trench under the bathroom to access the pipes. Hope that never happens. I don't think we would have room for a garbage disposal either, as the drain goes into the wall and then down. Since we have a septic system, doing without a disposal was not a hard choice.
