Comments (2)Thanks, I am pretty sold on the 92%. My big problem is we might add on to our house and reconfigure the duct work. I would hate to buy a system and then it not work well. I might try to have the motor fixed and wait a year. I have had 3 people come over and no one has done a new load calculation. I have told people the additional square footage but not sure they get it. Thoughts?...See MoreTrane Clean Effects - HELP!
Comments (7)HVAC guy was out today and thought he fixed it by leveling slightly the air handler but it then occurred again. Could it relate to the air speed settings of the variable speed air handler? Someone suggested that but I'm not sure. Also, when it occurs it typically occurs when the compressor is running at full speed (second stage) and not in stage 1. I hear the stages click in by the relay on the TCONT803 thermostat. One click for the air handler, one click for stage 1 and one click for stage 2. Could it relate at all to the Comfort R settings or not enough air being pulled through which would cause me to think it's best to ramp up the variable handler speed to high (450 CFM)? Then again this might actually cause more suction at the point of the clean effects and if the problem is some sort of low pressure at the clean effects then raising the CFM speed would actually make the drain water sucked more into the clean effects - - does anyone have a good sense of how the pressure gradients work near the Clean Effects and how to test to see why water would be sucked in?...See MoreTrane Clean Effects / Accuclean = Best available Air Filter?
Comments (4)I can't speak to the particular products in your post, but I can speak to the issue of electrostatic vs media filters: Cleaning the electrostatic filer was in iffy proposition for me at the time given my work schedule which included long hours and extensive travel. But, at least the electrostatic filer was in the basement, so it was manageable. In a later home, however, with two units, one in the basement with the other in the attic, I opted for the media filters. I didn't notice a significant difference in terms of the indoor dust between the electrostatic and media filters. Although the media filters are technically good for a year, I changed them twice a year. I was quite happy with them and will install medial filters in my current home in the next several weeks....See Morereview trane clean effects
Comments (3)I am writing this late in the game....but I want to steer people away from the clean effects. We built our house in 2015....had clean effects installed. I was never impressed, more dust than in our previous house....i just thought it was a piece of crap, a huge waste of money. During a yearly service call, the a/c technician told us the door to the clean effects was upside down and this was why it was not working. Still no improvement, but still thought it was just a crappy, expensive product. Fast forward....come to find out the unit is blowing fuses...you put the door on, start it up, and the fuse blows. To replace/fix will be 1300.00 DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY and buy the trane clean effects....i would go so far as to say stay clear of trane all together! i know i will!...See More- 18 years agolast modified: 9 years ago
