LG Combo Washer Dryer Lint Build-Up
Comments (29)Just incase others have a similar problem - I thought I was getting something similar to this problem. Clothes not drying properly however there seemed to be a lot of steam coming out of the drawer / tray. Turns out the cold water solenoid valve had died (the top left hand of the machine with the 3 blue tabs, just right to the red square part in the picture on the comment above) so water wasn't flowing into the condenser and then the steam wasn't being condensed - you could tell this was the problem since intermittently you should hear a sudden "whoosh" for a second or two every few minutes of the valve opening up and water flowing out. It did appear that less water was coming out the grey pipe on the back of the machine too, but this was because no extra water was coming into the system via the condenser. Anyway bought new cold water solenoid valve for £25, two screws off, 3 pipes on and off and it was fixed. Couldn't find much about this on the web - Just an idea....See MoreLG washer/dryer combo not drying properly
Comments (5)Thanks for the quick response! That's a good thought. I have watched the drain hose as the condenser water is flushed periodically, and the flow isn't consistent. When I start a dry cycle there is a good flush - lots of water comes out the drain hose. From that point on, though, the flow is inconsistent. When I hear the valve operate, sometimes some water comes out, other times none does. The water is quite soft here, and there is no sign of calcium build-up. What I will do now is to disconnect the small black hose which I believe is the water jacket drain hose from the junction point where the hose from the main drain pump joins that small black hose and feeds into the final drain hose. That will give me a better idea of what exactly is coming from the water jacket. As a matter of interest, I have sen this problem before in a similar machine in New Zealand. That unit has never dried well - same problem with hot clothes and lots of steam, and in that case the water coming out of the drain hose was quite hot, although flowing well. However, in that town the cold water is not very cold, so we just assumed that was the problem. I wonder if there is a sensor that checks the water temperature coming out of the water jacket and adjusts the flow accordingly so as to minimize water use. If so, that could be faulty....See MoreLG Washer/Dryer Combo with Steamwash
Comments (3)I have the original LG washer with the controls in the back, (Cannot remember model number). I had a problem with leaks by the door. I bought the washer along with a 10 yr service contract from a nationally known appliance chain. I did have good service, they came ordered a new door and a week later replaced it. I think the problem is who you get servicing these machines. I guess I was just lucky. All the "Newly designed front loaders are fairly new to the American market and are going to have problems. In this forum and other forums I have read different problems with almost every manufacturer. I think this is the chance we take in buying something "New" to the market. I also think LG, and also Miele make a quality product. SOme of the other American made front loaders, (which I will not mention names), are sort of cheap and tinny looking. I know it is a shame to even think of serice on a machine that is new. These machines, and for what we pay for them, should not break down for at least 5-7 years....See MoreNew LG Combo Washer-Dryer LUWM101HWA
