Have to share the American Girl outfit I made (pictures)

Normally, I hate making anything this small because the arms are such a pain but it turned out very cute! It is for my dissertation chairperson's daughter in celebration of everyone surviving my doctoral program :-)

I Made Halloween Cards!!! Had To Share

Thank you all so much for your kind comments. It was fun to try and do something with my two sweet furkids on a Halloween card this year. Treat,com has been a good medium for me to work in creating holiday, birthday, anniversary, graduation, etc. cards for my (huge) family and friends these past 4 years. I like that it allows me to change the font and the wording on the cards that I like, as well as giving me the ability to add my own pics. For me, it's been incredibly creative. Thankfully, my Dobie, Ronin, is a very mellow, laid-back guy. And, although Tibetan Spaniels are very, very, very mellow dogs (as well as quiet/non-barky) they do tend to stress out in front of a camera sometimes (LOL). Anyhoo, my goal was to use whatever I could scrounge up here in our costume box and work with it as best I could. I used a number of safety pins and rubber bands to get things to fit right! DD has a huge wardrobe for her little Chloe, so I had a number of things to choose from. I chose the 50's Girl because, while I really enjoyed the movie "Grease", my friends and family all know that I couldn't stand the saccharine sweet song from it, "Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee". Let's see...the ovens are gas and electric (I am not a huge convection girl) but I do think that's an option with Lacanche. We do have to set that thing up. The drawers are crooked and the doors are as well (previous contractor took it apart to move it and didn't worry about putting it back together right) but it's so cool to see it with it's lovely hood. I sweated about that hood...would it look ok...did it need corbels, blah blah...but I have to admit I'm patting myself on the back that my vision there wasn't nuts LOL Killer is a Coton De Tulear (Coton dog of Madagascar). Stick your hands in a bag of coton balls..that's what his fur feels like :) He's goofy and silly and he wants desperately for the cats to play with him LOL (they're at least in the same room now) and already a beloved member of the family (though I will admit...dogs are a pain in the bumm...always having to be with people yada yada). He was my DH's birthday gift (from me and DS). He actually came from TiaCoton's in Lake Stevens WA but I'd already booked the trip to Portland (to get a dog there that didn't pan out) so I flew in there (and because I wanted to stay at the Benson and have dinner at El Gaucho). I took a girlfriend with me and we had a blast. Thank you all so much for the compliments! It is good to see the vision coming together with no major blunders yet. And jkom...you can come and stay in the master bath (coffee, chocolate and vanilla colors) or the family room (olive green and parchment with chocolate trim) but you'll have to close your eyes on the way to either room LOL cuz I must admit there's gold/yellow everywhere else!

Aprons are SO popular right now and that is a really cute and fun and pretty one, I know she'll love it. I agree- a cupcake book would be so fun! I saw a neat one at Sam's- I almost got it for myself. I remember using Sun-In on my hair when my parents took my brothers on vacation and I stayed home with the dog, I think I was 14 or 15. Boy, was my mom mad! I couldn't even see the difference, though. 5'9" WOW! Does she have issues with her height? I hope not, she'll enjoy it later when she's described as statuesque.

Great job. That is so cute. My DGD is into the American Girl stuff. About once a month she goes to an American Girl party. She love it.

I am so impressed. What does the WV mean. This present will be a big success.

What did you do your dissertation on?

I love the outfits. I had an afterschool American Girl Club when I taught at am elementary school where the girls were very poor. Lovingly they took a turn combing and braiding the doll's hair. We had Addie. I read her story as they listened and got lost in her world. Of course we had a tea for the girls and their mothers at the end of the school year. We kept it real.

So expensive to own them.

I have friends whose children have and want the furniture and all the other stuff that The American Girl has. We have a store here. They have so many dolls and I wish at least one little girl would understand how precious it would be to give up one of theirs to the school where I taught.
