For me it would have to be Honeybells. I got it at a time I had only a very few (Gold Standard, a green Fortuni, Golden Tiara). I thought the rounded flat look was more pleasing. I kept moving it around over the years not liking it very much. It grew anyway. Finally it was too big for where it was so I moved it to this more sunny spot. I didn't care much what happened to it you see. Now it is one of my most reliable favourites. The spot is perfect because there is a downward slope to the path and it allows it to "flow". I bought Sugar and Cream just because I liked the look of Honeybells so much.

Hello there. This too is my first year and attempt @ propagation from seed. (I do not know what my babies are or will be. I don't even know the mother plant(s) of my seeds. I gathered seeds from several locations in my area with mother(s) unknown.) I think, from research and the method I have used, I would just let them stay in the fridge. I live in Idaho with approx. 8 inches of snow on the ground, thus I don't think I should try germinating outdoors in my area. To date I have had approx. 65-ish seeds germinate in the fridge over the past 4 months. I first soaked the seeds in water and peroxide:1 part peroxide, 9 parts water, for just a few hours. Then, placed the seeds in a paper towel damp with the water/peroxide solution. Placed the paper towel and seeds in a plastic lidded container in the bottom drawer of fridge. I would check the seeds every so often and give them a misting with the water/peroxide solution, just a little, not too much, not too often. Around 12 weeks after placing them in the fridge I had a few seeds begin to germinate. My rental house has the 4" granite "backsplash," and (I will post pix as soon as I find my camera) there is an ENORMOUS, it seems to me, gap between the Blue Pearl countertop and the Blue Pearl BS. It's like a specialty-size gap - "Hey, I want the kind that you can't really get in to clean, but water and particles and gunk can get in there, as one can see when one sticks a knife into this huge gap." My kitchen-forum-sharpened eyes zero in on this - is it a common problem? Terrible workmanship? My mom has Galaxy Black (or Black Galaxy) granite on her countertop and up onto her BS and it looks great. Very hard to photograph, though!

While there are many rooms I've seen that I'd love to out-and-out copy, minor details like budgets and existing architecture :-) get in the way. Normally it's a piece of artwork, textile, or rug that ends up where I take color, pattern, etc. I don't have a set overall budget per room, really, as I do things very gradually as money becomes available, but I know what I can afford/am willing to pay for certain things. I've only had the chance to really do up one room "from soup to nuts", the master bathroom at my previous house, and I did start with inspiration pictures for that. I saw two pictures of one bathroom in Jane Powell's "Bungalow Bathrooms" and thought "that's my bathroom", but I still only took aspects of it for my own rather than copying it - the high, stained-wood beadboard wainscot and clawfoot tub with English telephone faucet were what grabbed me the most, so those were the "non-negotiables", but I didn't care for the floor tile and white walls so I threw those out the window: My end result: I've got the same situation WRT the will-get-to-it-someday kitchen in this house (it's more or less functional so it has to wait for a few years while we take care of higher-priority items). I found a picture of some cabinets that will fit this house perfectly - they're actually very similar to the trashed remains of a pantry cabinet we found in the shed, so there might even have been something like them there originally - but I hate the appliances and the walls and definitely the colors LOL so it'll definitely be another case of "a little of this, a little of that", but the cabinet style really socked me.
