what is the second best alternative to geothermal.

we are having prices thrown at us to add a geothermal closed loop unit. we have no ducts. and is causing a problem with the layout of the basement. prices are falling around 22-30k with ducts and a 6 ton unit. we are paying 300 a month for our electric budget. we have electric radiant and no ac. the house is a walkout ranch 3300 up/3300 down. (very efficient well built home) I am having problems putting ducts in the basement. what is the second best alternative to geothermal, for heating and cooling. I was thinking if I put in something like a high velocity system and for example costs me 250 dollars a month to run, vs a geo that costs me 150 a month to run. my return isnt worth it to do the geo system, saving only 100 bucks a month, but having almost 20k in added install cost. I am open to all recommendations

thanks

jamie
