I don't use Charlie's but I do use oxy clean. I toss it in the washer before I add the clothes. It seems to work fine and I've never had a problem.

I use the Charlie's powder, so I just put the oxi in the dispenser with it. To me it seems easier and then I know when everything gets flushed into the machine it all gets distributed properly.

but has anyone put the oxy clean in with liquid detergent in the dispenser despite what the instructions say? for some reason it says not to combine the two if your using a liquid detergent.....

I wouldn't think it'd be a good idea to mix powder and liquid together. Then I'd get the liquid Oxy. Most seem to just sprinkle it in the drum. A couple machines have an Oxy dispenser.

The warning about mixing liquid and powder together in one dispenser in a frontloader is because the combination can create a goopy mess that won't dissolve or flush out of the dispenser very well. It won't cause a dangerous chemical reaction, fumes, fire, flooding, etc.

The flush-through dispensers on frontloaders distribute the products into the outer tub, not into the inner drum directly onto the clothes ... which theoretically helps the products dissolve so the clothes don't get damaged or spotted by exposure to a strong concentration. However, people have been pouring detergents and additives (liquids, powders, tablets, gel-packs and whatever else has been on the market) directly on top of clothes (or under them, if added first) in toploaders for years to no ill effect, so doing that with a frontloader is unlikely to be a problem.

I use the liquid Oxyclean and like it even better than the powder. Right now I am trying Liquid Oxydol and using Oxyclean with it is really working well.

Spray & Wash with Resolve is well worth the money

I've had no problems mixing liquids and oxyclean in the dispense of my FL for years. I put the liquid in first (it starts draining into the tub immediately) then the powder.

That said, I mainly use powdered detergent.

I measure my detergents, etc. by the tablespoon, so I don't use huge scoops/capfuls. That means there's less to make potential goop.

My Duet does. Outlet is upper left just inside the gasket and spews the lot pretty much right in the middle of the inner drum...directly onto the clothes. Non-issue, IMHO.

I have Duet and use powder detergent. The instructions on the Oxy Clean tub say not to put it in the detergent compartment. So should it go in the bleach compartment or just be tossed in the washer with the clothes? Which machines have an Oxy dispenser? Have people experienced any performance differences between the regular and fragrance free versions of Oxy Clean?

Oxy Clean does not work very well for a lot of stains.

You have let your clothes soak for hours with hot water but you add to where you put your regular laundry detergent for wash machine.

I use a powdered detergent add the oxy clean with it in the detergent compartment. If you use a liquid, put the oxy clean in the drum before you add the clothes. I love the stuff, it removes so many stains gently. Don't put it in the bleach compartment, that is made for liquid products. If you want to be on the safe side, just put it into the drum before the clothes, not on top of the clothes.

What stains does Oxy Clean not work well on, rosabearr? And how do you keep water hot when soaking clothes for hours?

In my family we have Kenmore Top Loader

Usually I set it at Hot/Cold and pull out and lid keep really top or sometimes I use the sink. So answer would be to put something metal to keep heat in.

It typically sucks at all basic ones.

Instead I use Spray & Wash with Resolve - Spray bottle type or more better with 5 people total I see lot of stains.

Warning about Oxy. I personally use it to remove yellowing stains from the vintage linens I have purchased over the years, by letting it sit in hot water with the oxy powder mixed into it, then throw it in the wash. I NEVER use oxy on anything that touches my body, such as clothing or bedding. I used it once on bedsheets and figured the rash on my face came from the pillow case that had been washed with oxy. Same goes with Tide. It burns and has been known to cause burns on animals that are sensitive and have had their blankets washed in it.

Oxy does a great washing job, but if you have allergies or sensitive skin, I would not use it on anything that comes in contact with your body. I use it when washing my comforter, but my comforter doesn't come in contact with my skin.

I also wanted to follow up with if you have local 99 cent only store they sell Blast in my area for 0.99 for 1IB it contains Borax it cheaper than Oxyclean this combian with Water softener it works very good for hardwater

rosabearr, are you sure that has Borax and not washing soda? Most of the cheaper oxy cleaners have washing soda (sodium carbonate) in them.

OH, come on! Just where did you hear this myth??? I am sensitive to a number of things but I've also spilled full-strength detergent directly on me (also touched it when wiping up spills, applying to stains, etc) and I didn't suffer any burns! Good grief! Sounds to me like either you're overly sensitive, using too much or perhaps you're not rinsing your clothes properly. Try an extra rinse cycle or two. That could help.

I am sure that borax is not wash soda two different things.

One product is made with it which I was reffering to Blast product.

I also know that Arm & Hammer is marker for the Washing Soda
from my knowledge I was able to buy at Albertson but I been three of them and all have said that it discontinued or not very popular product now it hard to locate.
