You could try going to the particular arlines' own website and look for special deals. I fly JetBlue, and they'll occssionally offer "specials"'.I once flew from New York's Kennedy airport to Buffalo for $19.

I agree with Jannie - airlines will often have "web specials". I would also recommend buying on either Tuesday or Wednesday - airlines typically reduce the fares Tuesday morning and other airlines follow suit soon after.

Making it "cat escape-proof" is going to be quite a challenge. You'll probably need at least a nine foot high fence, and even then you'll need to either avoid planting any tall plants anywhere near the fence (lest they become stairsteps for the cats) or affix some inward-slanting or unusually un-climbable material to the top edge so the cats can't pull themselves over. That said, it can be done. Check out the mesh at the top of the chain-link fence in the link below. Here is a link that might be useful: A Garden for Cats

Geranium/Pelargonium

My oldest Geranium is going on 6 yrs. My secret is, keeping them cool to chilly (even cold) during winter months..placed in south/west windows. Withholding fertilizer until Feb/early March. And letting soil dry completely. I repot, 2 sizes up when roots fill the pot to the point of being rootbound. Here's a pic of my oldest Geraniums..There are 3 types in the container. If possible, summer outside..Toni

Anyone in the Albany area do succulents?
Q

Hi lilacs_and_hyacinths's I do know that the cacti can take that drop in temp but I am curious....since you have cacti do you happen to have the winter hardy prickly pear. I am down by Albany NY and have a pp the blooms yellow that stays out all winter....I really feel it is hardy your way since my daughter lives in East Aurora and we can do the same plants! There are also other pp's that bloom a different color that are hardy for us and I am always looking for them. My succulents that are outside are starting to look really good......we have had a little cold snap and they appear to love it.....but they will have to come in soon. Thanks so much for responding......I love your name!!! Jean

Anyone who has a stainless steel top stove

I just use methods 1 and 3 from april_love's list. I use method 1 for more than 95% of the cleaning. Method 3 takes care of the rare harder-to-remove crusty stuff. I have open burners, so spillovers never get burnt or baked on. Some splatter does get crusty and stuck on if I leave it for a couple of days. But simply wetting it will usually loosen it up. Personally, I think stainless steel is one of the easiest surfaces to clean. It's only downfall is scratching. Cleaning with the grain helps.

I've heard that as well about waiting until Tuesday afternoon.

I found the flight and airline I wanted, and just kept going back a number of times, and finally got it at the price I thought was reasonable and it was.

I had the time to shop, no big hurry. Just waited until..... and I'm ready to fly soon.

I heard a travel expert say to check online after midnight on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I think it was for trips that are coming up soon. Apparently the airlines see unsold seats for the next week and discount them at that point.

When shopping for a particular flight and airline, I couldn't make up my mind, and when I did, in just a couple of minutes that price was no longer available and it had gone up.

So I patiently waited and then got my reasonable price, later.
