congrats on the house, Susie, and good luck to Drew.

Tomorrow is Ashley's 21st birthday party, her friends are giving her a party, LOL, so I'll have a family party later, but we're going to her party tomorrow night for a little while.

I'm still cleaning the pool, have a lawn that needs mowing and a garden that needs weeding and a barn that needs cleaning and a fence that needs checking and I'd like to take Makayla and Bud fishing.

I can probably pack all of that into one weekend, can't I?

Good luck with the move , Susie-- hope the new house soon becomes a comforting home .

We're off traveling tomorrow-- a short visit to see SD whose melanoma has reappeared with a vengence ( after 7 yrs of being CA free)& then to SS's family to play with the newest granddaughter > Then on to camp to visit another close friend whose having problems from CA treatments.

So I guess it's "eating out" for us the next 2 days.

I have to work this week end (I do every weekend) but I am also working tonight. I usually don't work Fridays but I am trying to get all the time in that I can before school starts back. ( I am only taking 3 hours this semester so hopefully I wont be that crazy) Figure I will be busy this semester since my eldest will be graduating from high school. Mary

Happy Friday Everyone! Susie I can relate to what you are going through with your son, my oldest son went through similiar times. I can proudly say now that he is 27, happy and works his butt off for a company that lays pipe line for oil companies! If you need to vent or talk I'd be happy to listen, it is very, very frustrating!
Annie, you always have so much going on, happy birthday to Ashley and I hope you and the grands catch "the big one!"
I am having a surprise (not so much anymore!) party for my DH tonight at our community club. He just received his MAster's Degree from ECU and I wanted to do something for him. I have to tell you it would be easier planning a surprise party for a bunch of chatty 13 yr. old girls! Adults can not keep a secret! Oh well, it takes some pressure off of me! Tomorrow will be yard work and Sunday we leave for 2 days in Ocracoke, we need a bit of a respite! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Clinking my ice tea glass! Gina

Annie - oh my goodness - 21? I hope you all have a great time at all the celebrations. It is quite the milestone!

Diane, I'm sorry to hear about the health issues with family and friends. Keeping positive thoughts going in your direction.

As Susie mentioned, it is cold and rainy here. Normally I wouldn't mind, but we are off to Tyler Tasting tonight. It is a fundraiser for one of the historic buildings in our town and very dressy. It shoudl be alot of fun - many local restaurants, wineries, etc are donating food/drink and it is quite the "see and be seen" event.

Tomorrow I need to finish end of year presents for the teachers at school. WHose stupid idea was it to get the 2nd Grade teacher a butterfly bush and make little butterflies to hang on it with the kids class pictures cut out for the faces anyway? Oh yea, I guess it was mine. Anyway, I'm sure she will love it, she is an avid gardener and the "theme" for the 2nd grade research project is bugs, so this fits right in.

I also volunteered to help paint the entry way signs to our neighborhood tomorrow. That I will squeeze in while the glue on the butterflies is drying.

Sunday I am gong to play in the garden and relax with the family.

Tomato soup is the best hangover cure I know Annie. Make sure the birthday girl drinks plenty of water while boozing it up on her 21st.

At the moment I'm goofing off rather then going to work. So wish I could call in sick or some such. Probably lots of people out there that would love to have my carpy job so I had better go slog the slog. Have a power struggle going on with a staff manager over my audit contents. Surprise surprise who would have thought an audit should be whitewashed? Feels like I have lead in my shoes and every single step requires determination and great effort.

Well... can't let that steam drill beat me down...

Happy Friday, everyone!

I have been busy learning my new career. It is taking me a while to actually feel pumped about it. Can't say I am "pumped" as of yet, but I feel more comfortable with it every day.

Susie, those 40 days will go by so fast and moving day will be here before you know it! YAY Glad you found a good home for your piano, too.

Annie, as always you have something going on every minute of every day! Give Ashley a birthday hug from her "imaginary Aunt Linda, doncha know..."! You betcha.

Diane, good luck to those dealing with cancer. Hope you all have a wonderful visit, and smooch up that new baby!

Gina, I agree. It's tough to keep a surprise among adults! But I am sure your party will be fab.

Alexa, your weekend sounds busy, busy, busy, too! The butterfly bush idea is really cool! Glad you scheduled in some relaxing, garden time, too.

Lyra, I sure hope your job gets better soon. I know how it feels to have to drag yourself to a job that sucks. Try to get in a littel "you" time this weekend. Have a PBR for me, okay? LOL

For us there's a surprise retirement party for a really great guy I used to work with at the newspaper on Saturday night. Then Sunday a perennial plant swap with the folks on the MN Gardening forum. We have a swap twice each year and do a pot-luck afterwards. Always a good time.

Will clink later, I have to go out and buy something "clinkable"!

TGIF everyone! Happy Birthday Ashley!

Diane, I have friends going through the big C as well. One very close friend had prostate cancer that spread to the outside of his bladder. He just finished his last treatment and we are all praying that it works. We are spending a week-long vacation with him, his DW and and another couple in July. Through all this (3 years or so), he has never complained or been negative. Neither has his sweet wife. Inspirations to everyone.

In light of that, I have nothing to complain about and I am going to enjoy my weekend of miscellany!

The Big C is really awful, and it's great when the person and family can keep a positive and uplifted attitude. Holding good thoughts for your friends and Diane's SD.
Diane, is she aware of the "vaccination" protocol for melanoma that's being followed here at the John Wayne Cancer Institute? I know of two people that it has put into long term remission.I'm not certain how she'd get involved, but perhaps her doctors could look into it.

Our weekend is busy one! Tonight dinner with DS and a work associate that he wants us to meet. (not a romance, just someone who feeds him work!)Susie, its important to note that DS is another one of "those" kids who never met a piece of homework that had his name on it. Email me and I'll give you some insight. Drew might have a learning difficulty or organizational skill problem, not just a lack of motivation.
Tomorrow will hold shopping for a baby gift, errands and hopefully a few minutes with the DGS's and my parents. Dinner plans with friends and then Sunday do a bit of cooking, a potluck babyshower and then a concert in the evening. All in all a busy weekend!

It's my 30th high school reunion tonight & tomorrow night. Tonight is family night and is being held in the cafeteria of the high school I graduated from. It's being catered by a local BBQ joint and should be fun. Tomorrow night is the more "formal" party at a local restaurant. It's going to be so cool to see all the buddies I had when I was in the band!

Pat, I hear class reunions can be fun...haven't gone to any of mine. I have met up with some former classmates on Facebook though...

Since I have to work every weekend, I have no plans! Kim is going to Ohio for her nephews HS graduation while I slave away. My weekend are now on Tues and Wed. and I still have deck planters to fill on Tues. It's been either too cold or raining on my days off so the plants are waiting for me, but they want to be in their new homes...
The summer people are returning, it's been getting steadily busier at work.

News Flash.....we have an occasional poster...mostly lurker (according to her) that stopped in at the store last weekend and introduced herself to me. It's MrsJack here on GW and she was really sweet. She lives across the state from me and I've encouraged her to post more.

Like Susie and Alexa, I am not enjoying the chilly dreary weather. I'm freezing! Supposed to be up to 80 tomorrow.

The weekend is mostly this and that. I have yardwork to do and the work inside is endless of course. I've been shopping for new carpet for my recently renovated den. I need to rehang the pictures in there, too.

Last night was a dinner for major donors in the new arrivals hall of the hospital. I was running around like a crazy person and was exhausted all day to day. I am heading off to bed soon so I don't sleep the day away tomorrow.

Sunday is the Library's cocktail party. It is at a beautiful home nearby. The host os the son of Sneator Arlen Specter, so I am looking forward to that but, what to wear??

Whoa -- my power just blinked off and on. I better post this before I lose it.

Hi Everyone - TGIF!

We made it to the lakehouse late this evening after a busy week. We have outside work to do up here over the weekend, but that's actually fun for me if the weather is decent. It's supposed to be near 80, which would be very welcome after the cloudy, unseasonably cool weather we've been having.

I just made up claire de luna's creme fraiche recipe to use on those frozen lemon curd sandwich desserts. I have family coming on Sunday and will test out that recipe for the first time.
