I sometimes send personal emails when I agree with the person but never when I disagree. When I disagree I tend to just SOB.

I definitely Scroll On By when I disagree, unless we're talking about a misapprehension rather than an opinion. I'd be inclined to send positive, encouraging emails now and then, but I rarely try because my experience with GardenWeb email has been so poor.

I don't mind when people state opinions. I either state mine or scroll on by. But when people shout their opinion down from an ivory tower as if the rest of us are idiots OR when I feel a fellow KTer is being unfairly attacked, I am offended. I try very hard to ignore them and control my tongue. Once in awhile, however, I feel compelled to call someone on the carpet about their attitude. Like alisande said, though, GW email is not very reliable, so sometimes I gotta say it "out loud" in front of everyone. :-)

I figure everyone has the right to their own opinion, I'd never email someone telling them they were wrong (unless maybe they were thinking about jumping off a bridge or something similar).

I have emailed quite a few KTers when I find something interesting in their postings and want to know more.

I've never sent a personal email to a KT member who I disagree with or who may be at odds with me. If I feel strongly enough I just say it here or forget about it.

We all have rights and I'm glad freedom of speech is one of them.

Life is too short for anything else" But why would anyone send you a nasty e-mail about an opinion you expressed? They don't have the guts or balls to say it to the entire forum. This has happen to me on other forums, but never on the KT.

I have sent emails to folks when I agree with them or if I just want to contact them for a "howdy, how are you or thinking of you" sort of message. I have never emailed them to say I disagree with them on a subject. I usually will either speak my peace on the thread or SOB.

I've contacted a couple of people privayely thru their KT profile, but nobody responded. I don't recommend doing it.

I've contacted a few members when I didn't want my questions to take over someone else's thread. And I've also included information that would have been too lengthy to post in a reply and also would have been very boring to the casual reader.

I've never emailed a member to disagree with them. I have sent emails telling someone that I agreed with them and also to see how they are doing if there has been some sort of personal or medical problem in their life. I do that because I like to make people feel appreciated.
I have my opinion about things and I respect the right of others to have theirs too no matter if they are different from mine. I see no reason to write them about it.

On occasion, I have emailed someone with a bit of info that they might appreciate, but never to put them down. I have also received emails from people with some helpful bit, too.

I'll 2nd what Linda said. I've e-mailed someone and tell them good job or whatever. I don't e-mail them through the GW though, as it doesn't work half the time. Maybe they'll fix that tonight. Either way, if I don't agree with what someone says, they still have their right to their opinion. It's a lot in how it's delivered.

I do occasionally, but only to ask a question (right, Moni?) lol, or say something positive, especially if their thread took a turn for the worse and they're worried about it. I've had several people do the same for me over the years and I've always appreciated it and I hope I thanked them all. Sometimes you may feel like you're the lone voice in the KT wilderness with your opinion. It's nice when you find out that others are of like minds.

I do some of those that many had commented. I mainly e-mail if I have questions or would like to send gratitude for supports of certain members. So far, ya'll been super nice and I love being here. Thank You!!!

I try really really hard not to hijack someone's thread as I've done in the past unintentionally so now, I e-mail.

I ignore anger and madness. My health is not worth working all that up and end up suffering from the consequences. My health is way too important to me =o)

I have both sent and received emails in support. I have received one or two nasties who wanted to pick a fight over something but I don't respond to them. If I ever really got real hate mail I would post it all over the net to warn others though.

I enjoy a lively, friendly debate but I am not going to waste my time trying to convince someone I've never even met why I'm right. LOL

I feel the same way and several years ago, got disciplined for using that very line while being attacked (or maybe I was sticking up for someone else getting mauled? I can't remember).

I have done both mails and e-mails to members and have found a wonderful lady who I connect to regularly and have spoken to several times. I love to have the connection. This forum is a perfect example. You are all very communicative and seem to be a "family". Though I do not post often, I love to read about your lives. You are a bunch of goodies!

I have recived emails in support of something I said, incliuding from lurkers. Of course, I haven't received any after the email on My Page stopped working. I know there are people who email each other to rally support against me, too. I remember emailing someone a few years ago to ask about something they wrote to me. I thought she was insulting me but was mistaken. I was glad we were able to clear it up.

I have sent private messages asking questions, or offering support, but when I disagree I confine my opinions to the public forums. Which I try to do somewhat gently ... most of the time, but occasionally I let some rather wry humour slip in, but just wanting to be funny, not to be nasty to someone.

Often I find that there is more agreement than appeared at first. And sometimes offering a different slant on an issue helps people to look at a situation in a bit of an altered light.

I appreciate the opinions and concern for others expressed here, and have learned a number of things from others.

And I hope that I may have offered some useful suggestions, advice, empathy and support, as well.

Also, I have disagreed with someone who has taken someone else to task, especially if it appeared rather unfair, high-handed, or such. Especially if the person being criticized/(attacked?) appeared to be rather lacking in self-esteem.

But I hope that I succeed in doing so without putting people down.

Good wishes for finding fulfillment of a number of your worthwhile dreams in this New Year ... and bringing some new ones to birth.
