This is the front of the one I am working on now.

Not sure of the lining yet...probably something with flowers and bugs.

So, do I just need to tell you what I want on mine when I order it? Cause I can be very specific, and it's obvious that you have the talent to fill the bill! Let's see...make mine "wildlife-ish" with pine trees and deer and turkey and a squirrel -- or fishing themed would be OK, too! Just tell me what I owe ya, and I'll pay up! LOL!

Yea! Now I won't be the only one who couldn't resist doing that little project! Good finds Jeanne, and I'm so PROUD to be an enabler! LOL I stopped at a TS today and got two metal candleholder for 99 cents each and a wooden chees tray and glass top for $1.99. Thinking I'll glue one of the candleholders on the bottom to make it a pedestal and paint it. Just have to decide on the shorter or taller one. Pickings are really slim--just no really neat dishes at all! Maybe with the economy people are started to hang on to stuff longer! Kathleen, little birds like that can be displayed anytime--not just Easter, don't you think? I can't remember what I'm going to do next week--so how am I going to remember to remind you of this project all the way into next year???? ;o)

I've got some of that "stuff", too. Brand names I know are Peltex and Timtex. Interesting stuff - a very stiff polyester batting, with a slight bit of "give" to it. Googling around, I found this vendor who sells Timtex, which apparently does not include fusible on the interfacing itself (instructions on the top of the web page say to use double-sided fusible web with it), and also 3 different versions of Peltex: no fusible, fusible on one side, and fusible on both sides. (I didn't know it came in so many combinations.) One colour bottom and middle colour tote bag

Make it all the color of the top and bottom. Sew your middle color over on the center. Measure where you want it down from the top. Turn and press the middle piece 1/2 inch under on top and bottom and stitch with a double seam like you see on jeans. Then sew up the sides matching the center seams. If you want a flat bottom. Turn the bag inside out, match your side seams with the center of the bottom and pin it across making a triangle, then stitch across from side to side. The strap can be strapping you buy at a fabric store or made from your material. If you make it from your material, back it with heavy interfacing. Sew it together and turn it out the right way--the rubber end of a pencil can help with this. Keep the seam at one side of the strap and stitch in 1/4 inch on both sides. The straps can start at canter bottom and go all around the bag. Overlap on the bottom by a few inches. Sew the strap on on both sides of the strap. Following the stitching lines already there if you are using material. I suggest you do some measuring to make sure the strap is the right length. A heavy card or plastic covered in your lining material will keep the bottom flat. I hope this helps If you have trouble post again and I'll try to help

"Would the fabric hold the ring webbing without tearing? Bag holds about 20-25 pounds. " Probably not ... It would be easier, and more secure, to run the strap through the pockets (unstitch them an inch or so) and completely under the bag so it supports the entire bat on the strap.

Me, too, Jenni! This one is as cute as a bug's ear! I just love the happiness you sew into everything. You should go into business doing custom purses/totes. Each one would be different so you couldn't get bored!

I'll order a flamingo at the beach one! Margarita in hand, of course. Or I can add that, if need be!
