I have Bellmont cabinets and the 24" Sharp microwave drawer. I am certain I have a deep drawer under the microwave, but I will check it for sure and take a picture when I get home.

My cabinet is not in yet for my 24" Sharp Microwave Drawer, but as ordered, my bottom drawer is deep and the microwave goes right up to the top of the cabinet.

Didn't your designer print off the elevation drawings so you could know exactly what you were ordering? It would be pretty apparent that you were getting the cab with the shallow drawer. You can always order the deep 2 drawer stack and have the installer alter it by adding a platform and filler if they don't offer the deeper drawer MW cabinet. Or, you can still use the current cabinet and modify it to raise the MW. All you need is some filler material and to have the installer raise the platform for the MW. Of course, that doesn't get you the deeper drawer below, but it's probably the least amount of labor alteration, and thus the cheapest option.

A deep drawer does fit under the micro drawer. That's what I have. I cannot tell you if it was a standard cabinet and am not familiar with your cabinet line, but either way, the placement of the micro in the cabinet should have been reviewed with you before the cabinet was ordered and again before it was installed.

My first question in deciding how to approach the problem is whether that height on the micro is working for you. I think it would be too low for me, and that would be my biggest problem with it.

If the height functions okay (many folks are shorter than I am, so it might be fine), consider ways to put the space above it to a functional use (a pullout cutting board, some kind of storage - cutting board, knives, utensils, folded dish towels, hot pads, etc.).
Sometimes you can find a way to turn a problem into a silver lining. Look at what you have and how you kitchen is set up and think of a clever way to use that dead space.

If the height doesn't work well for you, the problem is a more difficult one, especially with that counter and splash already in place. The sooner you tackle it, the better.

I just checked,the top of my microwave is about 2" below the bottom of the countertop.

This doesn't look too tough to fix. Order the larger drawer and raise the microwave.
