Count me in on the white Christmas. Haven't been able to leave the house in 4 days, so Christmas has been on hold. I live outside of OKC also. Hoping to venture out today so we can finally get to see our family and have our Christmas!

Never seen so much snow, all the way to the top of my patio furniture. Living in the sticks has its downfalls, but it sure is beautiful. Sooo thankful I was not one of those who spent the night in a ditch! It was crazy out there!

We did, leftover from the 14 inches we got the other day. Actually it was quite dangerous last night as everything was black ice.

Not us. Actually, we had a sunny day Christmas with dry conditions. The fog burned off fast, and by noon I actually had the doors & windows open to bring in some of the fresh, 60 degree air. Of course, the clear skies meant icy conditions this morning, so we have 'white' in the form of frost.

N2, we live on a dirt road, my son lives on a dirt road off Waterloo, and we had to detour down Piedmont Rd and go back north. We counted at least 15 vehicles in drifts. One had a guy in it, we stopped to help him but his buddy was on the way and the grader ended up pulling him out!

I ran into town this morning and I could go 2 miles with nothing on the roads, then hit an area where a drift used to be. Just watch out for the east-west roads.

No white Christmas for us! We had 28 people for dinner and I made everything but the salad. Today I am pooped and hiding from my MIL right now as she is driving me crazy. LOL! Everything is all about her. She can not talk about anyone but her.

Sorry for the vent. It's been three days of the same old tape loop, underhanded comments and self focus. I am counting to 10.

It was wonderful seeing the new babies and the rest of the family. Dinner turned out great. Turkey, ham, etc.

Nope, no snow here in Miami :)

We have lots of snow left over from last weekend's storm. Luckily, the sleet/freezing rain held off until about 10pm last night, after all our Christmas guests were gone. I remember one year we had a bad mix of snow and ice on Christmas Day, and only 6 of the usual 26 relatives could make it to our house that day. Oakley: what is a road grader? Is that the same thing as a snow plow?

Golddust - LOL. My MIL is the same way. She asks me questions but has no interest in my answers except to segway into talking about herself. I wonder whether this is an old-age affliction or was she like this all her life.

deedee, yes a grader may be the same as a snow plow. When they grade (smooth) the dirt roads every few months, especially after a heavy rain, they use the graders. Then they use them for snow. I think snow plows and graders may be a bit different but they both work!

Gold, I hear ya girl. My mom is the SAME way. If someone compliments her looks in a store, by golly everyone in the USA will hear about it. lol

The time that made me cry was when the kids were little and I had a bad cold that went to my ears and I literally couldn't hear out of them. I was running a high fever, and my mom called to check in. I NEEDED my mom then, since I lived with all males. lol. When I told her about my cold she goes, "Oh, I had a cold once..blah blah blah" and when we hung up I just started bawling. If it were MY child who had a cold, I'd be doing nothing but asking questions on how they're taking care of themselves, if they need to go to the doctor, are you drinking juice, etc.

One time she was on a non-stop talking spree to us about herself and she fell asleep mid sentence! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a white Christmas here in north Texas....and you can keep it from now on. lol My son, dil, and new baby spent 12 hours stranded in their car outside of Wichita Falls Christmas Eve and into Christmas day. The blizzard plus a massive accident...Then they spent another night in a hotel because the roads were still awful.

That area got nine inches of snow and had 50 mile an hour winds...true blizzard conditions. We here in Texas don't have the equipment to keep up with that sort of snow.

We had three inches of snow with two foot drifts because of the wind. I think snow is really pretty on Christmas cards, but not so much on my yard and streets during the holidays.

My 6 year old DS was really hoping for a white Christmas! I kept telling him, in Oklahoma we don't normally get a white Christmas, and lo and behold, did we get a white christmas!!

I like it to snow, and then go away the next day!

The blizzard was so bad (for Oklahoma, anyway), that our outdoor patio fan in the ceiling, only has two blades left, and is crooked and all bent. Needless to say, we will be getting a new one. I have never seen snow blow like that before.

Funny you should ask. I thought I was seeing stuff when on Christmas morning a neighbor a few doors down across the street had his son out there putting the final touches on a snowman. Now for any of you in the Midwest or out east that might be a normal thing to see. But I live in Phoenix AZ!!! I figured that they must have been up north in Flagstaff or further up near the Grand Canyon where there had been a lot of snow recently and they hauled it down here. We have been chilly - 30's or 40's at night and maybe 50's and low 60's in the daytime. But no snow except for this one guy's house. LOL!

Ollie, I found a shingle in the driveway after the storm so we need to look at the whole roof now. Boy, I hope that was the only one!

Happy, I would have been panic stricken if that happened to my child! And I bet you were! Thank God they're safe and sound. Did they keep warm by the car heater or did they eventually run out of gas?

Many families here in OK. have their Christmases still postponed it's so bad.

oakley, unless we have any shingles UNDER all this snow, I haven't seen any yet. Hope not. I think we will find things that we can't see, when all this snow is gone.
DH said that snow blew into our attic also.

I've been to all the Lowe's and Home Depots and no snow shovels. DH borrowed our neighbors so we could even get out of driveway. A neighbor with a tractor graded the entrance of our neighborhood, so we could get to the main road.

Snow, snow, go away....like I said, I like it for just a little while, but, want it to go away now.

boy, did we ever! ~~ if you could have seen the three-car crash we were in, you would have thought deaths were involved ~~ so frightening ~

we live in the northern suburbs of chicago, but we all go to galena for christmas ~

the bad driving conditions were forecast & we *were* nervous, but that's pretty much the scenario EVERY year ~ & we DO really have such a wonderful time ~

anyway, an UNINSURED nineteen-year-old lost control of her car; our daughter couldn't chose to go into the ditch cuz we were under a cement underpass; so when stacey hit the car it was thrown across the highway where we had gone to try to avoid the crash (thank goodness, there was no oncoming traffic at the time!!)~~ my eyes were closed the whole time, cuz when i heard my husband scream NOOOOOOO & i looked up; saw we would never be able to avoid her; i simply could not bear to watch! ~~ when i opened my eyes & found myself unharmed & alive (thanks to the airbags)~ but i was trapped in the car cuz the ditch was very deep & my door was wedged into the snowbank ~ my husband went flying up the steep ditch to check on stacey & her family ~~ BTW everyone was driving way below the speed limit; however, a car sliding on ice is close to impossible to stop ~ the girl was issued 3 tickets ~

anyway, miracle of miracles, we were all unscathed; & five hours later were back on our way to galena with two rentals joining the two cars that were not involved in the crash ~ we are back home now; but the two cars are in rockford awaiting the decision by state farm if they can be fixed ~~

Wow, phyl, thank goodness for airbags! How long were you trapped in the car? And then to continue on with the trip! Hope the rest of the trip went well.

Here in the mountains of New Mexico we were blessed with a white Christmas. DD was so happy! Actually, it was the perfect kind, as it snowed on the 23rd, but had melted off the roads by the 24th. My favorite kind of snow, to be sure . . . snow on the ground but not on the roads!

We had a beautiful white Christmas Eve! It started snowing mid-morning, and by the time we were set to go to church, the ground was covered and roads were icing over (meaning we didn't make it to church or get to see my family until the next day). Even though it thwarted our plans somewhat, it was still a very nice treat! It was just lovely and peaceful all, with all that white stuff everywhere!

We had 22" or so here the weekend before, so we had a white Christmas. Then it rained over the past weekend and reached 50 degrees, so we are left with only a few remnants of snow. Perfect!

We did. 8-15 inches depending on where one lives in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area. Unfortunately, it's a heavy, wet snow that has now frozen into ice chunks.
