Glad you got the new additions, Brad. Both are very useful and love that you'll be able to serve your gram's lemonade from that new beverage dispenser.

Congratulations and FYI. If your beverage dispenser is made of plexi or plastic, be careful to rinse out the lemonade as soon as you're done. We had one at work and someone borrowed it and didn't clean it soon enough. Unfortunately the lemon etched the interior and left it cloudy.

compumom, the beverage dispenser is made of ceramic, so I think clean up should be a breeze.

Mom always has had a Crock Pot for as long as I can remember. I tell my friends that it's the home cook's best friend they could ever have lol.

I hope you have years of tasty treats from both Brad! We love our beverage dispenser, when I am not entertaining, I make "fruit water" to keep in the fridge - currently mine has watermelon & mint. Very refreshing when it is hot.

And you are right - a crock pot is a home gooks BFF!

LOL Annie, our main Crock Pot gave out a few months ago, and we bought one and it didn't work so back it went, and I'm happy to have a working Crock Pot again. Mom has a smaller one, but it's too small for a pot roast. You're right, 3 gallons of Gram's lemonade is never enough :-).

Alexa, I've never heard of fruit water, but it does sound very refreshing, indeed :-).

This is slightly off-topic but mom and I just got back from a local nursery. Two of the types of plants we bought were an unnamed pickling variety of cucumbers and a dill plant. We got some flowers, too. I could spend all day there LOL. It may sound odd, but I wish most greenhouses nowadays were made of glass instead of plastic. They look so much prettier.

As to the greenhouses, I wish they were still made of glass, too. They look nicer, and we wouldn't have all that plastic going to the landfills.

Maybe someday I'll own a greenhouse of my own and a dream of mine is owning my own nursery. It most definitely would be a glass greenhouse or have glass greenhouses. Some of those, mainly the larger ones, are true works of art, as is gardening itself.

Cookingwise, I can't wait to make some refrigerator pickles again this year. I use the premixed packets they sell in stores like Wal-Mart, and I remember some people on here said they don't like it

I forgot to get a picture of our new Crock Pot in action, but I will try to remember to get pictures of the beverage dispenser when it'll be used. It's very colorful and the middle section has apples on it. Here's the link to it. It was on sale when we bought it, too lol.

Here's a recipe for refrigerator pickles for you to try. Tried and true! Yummy! In fact, I need to get some made.

REFRIGERATOR PICKLES
Holy Cross Cook book
Tami Ohio

Slice onion in bottom of gallon jar. Slice pickles to fill but do not peel. Boil syrup, until dissolved and pour over pickles and refrigerate

4 c. white vinegar
1 ý t. mustard seed
4 c. sugar
1 ý t. tumeric
ü c. canning salt
1 t. celery seed

For 1 quart Jar = ü recipe

1 T. canning salt
1 rounded t. mustard seed
1 rounded t. tumeric
ü t. celery seed
3 large cucumbers

18 pickle size cucumbers make about 2 quarts of pickles.

You may need to find a large plate that matches the design to put under the dispenser. On a humid day, there will be plenty of condensation even with a ceramic vessel.

A plastic greenhouse is nice because it uses insulated panels. Harborfreight sells one 6' x 8' under $300.00.

Also, if you have hail in your area, glass is not practical.

dcarch, I'll have to remember about setting the plate under the beverage dispenser. I'd like to have a greenhouse, but I don't even know where to put one for right now.

Unless you're using it outside on an extremely humid and hot day or you have no air conditioning and again, extremely hot and humid, I wouldn't worry too much about condensation. And I suspect your lemonade might go so quick it won't have a chance to condense! ;)

However a drip tray under the nozzle, that is something to have. Just a little saucer or some kind of tray. Even a cloth, chamois or something to absorb it so it doesn't make too big a mess from the drips.

Will do, cynic! Not sure of the weather forecast for Saturday (Yes, this coming Saturday! I'll start another thread about it), but I will check to make sure. Rain or shine, we will all have a good time :-).
