We own a 2 story Stucco (south facing) with finished basement in Metro Atlanta (Marietta) with approx 2250 sq. ft on the main floor and 20 ft ceilings in the great room and foyer, the remaining rooms are 9 ft and 1200 sq. ft on the 2nd floor with 9 ft ceilings. The 2nd floor opens to the great room. Would like input on price and product.

Details on the existing systems that will be eventually replaced:

Main Floor:

A/C: Rheem "Builders Grade" 5 ton 10 SEER

Furnace: Rheem "Builders Grade" BTU: unk, Gas, 10 SEER

Aprilaire: HEPA Air Cleaner and Humidifier (will reuse as part of new system)

2nd Floor:

A/C: Rheem "Builders Grade" 3 ton 10 SEER

Furnace: Rheem "Builders Grade" BTU: unk, 10 SEER

Aprilaire: HEPA Air Cleaner (will reuse as part of new system)

All units are approximately 13 years old.

Both furnaces are located in the attic above one of the south facing bedrooms.

Added additional insulation (blown) 3 years ago (R-48)

Duct work is in good shape

New linesets run about 5 years ago. Original installation was sloppy and current HVAC contractor replaced.

My current HVAC contractor (11 years servicing the existing units), who only sells Bryant, recommended the following setup:

Main Floor:

A/C: Bryant, 126BNA060, Single stage, 5 Ton 16 SEER

Furnace: Bryant, 315AAV, 135K BTU, 80%, Two stage, 5 Ton, 16 SEER

Coil: Bryant, CNPVP, Tin plated, 5 Ton

Controller: Bryant Evolution

Price: $6,300 with the $1,500 tax credit applied.

2nd Floor:

A/C: Bryant, 126BNA060, Single stage, 2 Ton 16 SEER

Furnace: Bryant, 315AAV, 70K BTU, 80%, Two stage, 3 Ton, 16 SEER

Coil: Bryant, CNPVP, Tin Plated, 2.5 Ton

Controller: Bryant Evolution

Price: $4,800

All systems using R410A

Replace A/C pads

Flush Lineset

Rework Flue pipe, Plenums, gas, electrical, and drains

One item of note: Had a an discussion earlier today with HVAC contractor (owner) about using a HP as part of the solution. He agreed and actually runs a Bryant hybrid system at his own home. Most folks on the forum recommend this approach in this part of the country. If you have thoughts on which specific models please let me know. I will share the updated pricing sheet once I have it next week.
