I started exercising again yesterday and did it again today. I'm so out of shape that yesterday my abdomen started cramping up and today one of my legs. I didn't stop, though. I need to lose some weight and get into shape so I can walk up those hills in Germany.

I just finished. I put the step counter on my shoe instead of waist and counted steps to make sure it was fairly accurate. Shoe seems to be better than waist for me- guess my budding fat roll gets in the way of it measuring, LOL.

I just did 1,200 steps marching in place, doing side steps, and using the bottom step of the stairs. Took about 15-20 minutes. Skipped the treadmill because my legs were not happy but I wasn't going to completely skip doing anything.

I also had oatmeal for a late lunch- that should count for something! I have a coffee bean grinder that I use to crush pecans. I pulverized the dry oatmeal and some apple chip. Mixed them together and added some cinnamon. It wasn't great but I ate a good size bowl without gagging.

mitchdesj - I completely agree with you about logging the food and exercise. It is amazing how quickly it adds up. My app sounds much like yours. It tallies up how much you've consumed and how much you have left for the day - which of course increases if you exercise. I have my daily allowance set for 1/2 lb weight loss per week. I feel like I can't hardly eat anything unless I exercise. So it's very motivational in terms of exercising. Because if I've hit my calorie limit for the day I just stop consuming - that's it - unless I exercise and increase the number of calories I can have. I kind of have these dates/events in mind that keep me going. Like I want to look good for something happening Feb 4 - so just keep going until then. And then I have something in April - when I'll be done wearing winter clothes - want to be looking good then. And so on. I even have something in August that I was thinking if I really stick with this I could be in great shape by then. I've now passed my 5 lb weight loss goal to get off what crept on toward the end of 2011. Haven't been this low since September. I want to lose 2.4 more lbs and then I'm done and I'll be able to eat a few hundred more calories per day which will be nice. Then I just want to focus on continued healthy eating, exercise, getting in better shape, more muscle, etc.

Hi Everyone, Just a quick hello. I am cooking, cooking, cooking. We are having friends over tonight, a Boy Scout banquet tomorrow (pot luck) and ofcourse goodies for tomorrow night. DS#2 is getting some awards tomorrow at the banquet. He is going up another rank in scouts. He will be at the Star rank. Six more months to his Life rank and then he can start working on his Eagle project. Not bad for 13 years old! (Can you tell I'm just a wee bit proud?) Tikanis, good thoughts are being sent to your friend Scott. (((HUGS))) Dee, I hope hubby is doing better, and you as well. Suzanne, it is 45 degress here. I hope to get out in a little bit. The most I've been outside today is to let the dog in and out! Enjoy, it won't last! QOD: Quiet. DH does not like to go to Super Bowl parties because he does not want to socialize during the game. He likes to watch the game on his own couch with his own remote and bathroom! So DS #2, DH and I will watch the game but I am making some special munchies. Two mexican dips, marinated mushrooms, shrimp and pork pie. I know it is a weird combo, but DH doesn't do the mexican stuff. Go Pats!!!! Love, Besh

Hi all - I'm still plugging away. I'm kind of in the groove now with less eating and logging all my food and exercise. I even made it through a weekend out of town with "the girls" without any over the top eating. I quit drinking alcohol a few years back so that saved on quite a few useless calories during our outing. Have been busy at work and with errands in the evening so not much exercise this week. Hoping to get home early and do something tonight. I simply am NOT a morning person which is too bad because if I exercised before I went to work I wouldn't have this problem. Or maybe the problem is that I don't love exercise and if I did I'd jump out of bed early to do it. DH loves sweets but since he's working out of town no danger of him bringing home a box of chocolates. I was on the phone with him last Sunday when some girl scouts came selling cookies. He was all enthused about me stocking up. I thought OMG - not cookies - I'll be eating them by the box. I ended up buying a few boxes and sending all but one to him. I've been carefully treating myself to a couple cookies per day. I really love being thinner without the extra girth around the hips and stomach. It does keep me inspired to stick with the healthier lifestyle. I especially want to make it to spring and summer so I can enjoy the smaller me when I peel off all the layers of winter clothes.

Todays' temps in the high 30's coupled with ground fog earlier this morning...sees the snow beginning to lessen in density. But this gateway to my "eden" remains the watering hole for all our local fauna.

My 5 yo dd got upset with me yesterday for exercising without her. I talked to the Pre-K teacher today. They are doing the health unit. Dd and I just finished the "Bow tie" tape. I'm sore from yesterday, but I did it anyway. I didn't go wild on the snacking today either. I did good!

I went down to the gym (here at the apt.) at 7 this morning and did the exercise bike, weight machines, sit ups on the slant board, then on to the tread mill.
This was my third day.....I'm trying!
I'm eating protien and veggies and whole grains.
Yesterday, someone at work asked me if I was "shrinking"! YaY!

We did ours late this afternoon after soooo many days of not going. It IS HARD. Nanny

PS.......the scale moved down 2 pounds this morning, that's motivation, at last!
