I started exercising again yesterday and did it again today. I'm so out of shape that yesterday my abdomen started cramping up and today one of my legs. I didn't stop, though. I need to lose some weight and get into shape so I can walk up those hills in Germany.

I just finished. I put the step counter on my shoe instead of waist and counted steps to make sure it was fairly accurate. Shoe seems to be better than waist for me- guess my budding fat roll gets in the way of it measuring, LOL.

I just did 1,200 steps marching in place, doing side steps, and using the bottom step of the stairs. Took about 15-20 minutes. Skipped the treadmill because my legs were not happy but I wasn't going to completely skip doing anything.

I also had oatmeal for a late lunch- that should count for something! I have a coffee bean grinder that I use to crush pecans. I pulverized the dry oatmeal and some apple chip. Mixed them together and added some cinnamon. It wasn't great but I ate a good size bowl without gagging.

I have now hit my goal weight. Started my serious weight loss plan on Jan 2 and hit my goal on Feb 7 so about 5 weeks. I waited another day to declare victory to be sure it wasn't a temporary fluke. I only had 7.6 lbs to lose but I haven't weighed this little in maybe 5 years. Gradually kept creeping up but reaching the 7 lbs over mark during the holidays really hit home with me and that's when I got serious about getting back on track. I did what I did when I initially dropped about 12 lbs in the past. More disciplined, healthy eating and more frequent exercise. I'd just gradually started eating more junky food and exercising a little less and of course the pounds crept back on. Now I'm focusing on continued regular exercise, building and maintaining muscle and healthy eating. I had my tracker set for 1/2 lb weight loss per week and it's very nice to get a couple hundred more calories to work with each day. Some things I observed over the past month that I have to continue to do: stay conscious of the quantity of stuff I eat - portion control and snack quantity control - no mindless eating forbidden treats - not a problem in SMALL quantities - eat slowly, savor, and linger over each delicious bite

Hi all - I'm still plugging away. I'm kind of in the groove now with less eating and logging all my food and exercise. I even made it through a weekend out of town with "the girls" without any over the top eating. I quit drinking alcohol a few years back so that saved on quite a few useless calories during our outing. Have been busy at work and with errands in the evening so not much exercise this week. Hoping to get home early and do something tonight. I simply am NOT a morning person which is too bad because if I exercised before I went to work I wouldn't have this problem. Or maybe the problem is that I don't love exercise and if I did I'd jump out of bed early to do it. DH loves sweets but since he's working out of town no danger of him bringing home a box of chocolates. I was on the phone with him last Sunday when some girl scouts came selling cookies. He was all enthused about me stocking up. I thought OMG - not cookies - I'll be eating them by the box. I ended up buying a few boxes and sending all but one to him. I've been carefully treating myself to a couple cookies per day. I really love being thinner without the extra girth around the hips and stomach. It does keep me inspired to stick with the healthier lifestyle. I especially want to make it to spring and summer so I can enjoy the smaller me when I peel off all the layers of winter clothes.

We women are usually good about taking ourselves for check ups, mammograms, colonoscopys, etc, our men are not. Make it a priority to make that appt. for him, and make him keep it. Go with him. I wasn't as good as I should have been and I should know better. I'm a nurse. DH put it off and put it off. I bugged him, I cajoled him, I made appts and let it go. (One MD had the audacity to ask him why he felt he needed to be seen!)He never went back. He felt fine, he wasn't overweight, he was active. I was too busy caring for my dying mother. After spending a weekend with her after a long week at work, he came to me Sunday morning. He had just started a culinary arts program and had felt worn out. Now his feet were swollen. I took him straight to the ER, my worse fears were that this was the only way to get him to a Dr.(through the ER) He went without a word, he was scared. That was April. His heart was failing due to arrythmias. Its been a long road, but he is doing better. He has never seen so many Drs. and followed my advice more closely. It could have been worse. Make sure your DH is taking care of himself.

I did, I did, but it was raining so hard on the bubble, no one could hear ANYONE except for the thunder of the rain!

My 5 yo dd got upset with me yesterday for exercising without her. I talked to the Pre-K teacher today. They are doing the health unit. Dd and I just finished the "Bow tie" tape. I'm sore from yesterday, but I did it anyway. I didn't go wild on the snacking today either. I did good!

I went down to the gym (here at the apt.) at 7 this morning and did the exercise bike, weight machines, sit ups on the slant board, then on to the tread mill.
This was my third day.....I'm trying!
I'm eating protien and veggies and whole grains.
Yesterday, someone at work asked me if I was "shrinking"! YaY!

We did ours late this afternoon after soooo many days of not going. It IS HARD. Nanny

PS.......the scale moved down 2 pounds this morning, that's motivation, at last!
