"House" is an Action taken upon a diverse collection of organic and inorganic materials to provide shelter, home, kennel, stable, nest for a resident thereof. It is structure, structuring of home. In a horticultural sense, "Soil" is an Action taken up the diverse collection of materials both organic and inorganic. It is structure, structuring of dirt. Soil is the verb. Dirt is the noun. Soil and Dirt are Not Synonymous. That is the simplest explanation as all English words must follow the Rules. You may say anything you like but know the rules. I use "stuff" (verb) as a noun as in "my stuff" or "that stuff" but a competent editor would never allow and, to my knowledge, never has allowed "stuff (noun)" to be published except as quote or dialect. However I will add: Murdering the Queen' English is the National Sport and favorite pastime of the Brit's while Americans, myself included, are hell-bent on proving that Warren G. Weather stripping on garage door has been chewed away by mice since last year. Traps all over the garage (my smoking lounge) but they kept licking peanut butter off one of them. Sitting out here using my laptop late at night last week and heard noise from side of garage. Look over and one trap is jumping up and down. I have no problem tossing out dead mouse in trap but when the little thing has one foot caught in trap and looks at me with those desperate little eyes I just couldn't take a shovel to him...LOL. Pried open the trap and let him go outside. Poor little thing didn't know what had just happened to him and ran in circle for a while. Guess I'm a sucker for brown eyes...LOL. If I ever have to chase one inside the house I won't be kind...little mousie would get clobbered with whatever is closest at hand. Not likely I'd be able to get that close to a live mouse but the thought is comforting. Crickets are the biggest problem inside house. My father uses some kind of "human safe" indoor/outdoor spray and there's a mass kill of them left in toward the middle of basement from crickets trying to escape spray along walls. This was only my first year of gardening but boy they can make you escalate to squishing bugs/insects with even bare hands...I was so fed up with eaten foliage I got crazy! Only got "burned" a few times with some beetle that felt like it stung. I lived and he didn't...worth it.

Hawks and owls species are natural predators to rodents,Not the domesticated cat,Domesticated cat kills for sport (watches the law protected bird suffer then walks away) kills rodents then does not eat them, therefore taking food from our native hawks and owls mouths,Domesticated cats that are allowed to roam unsupervised are unwanted pests within communitys,Cats destroy property,kill for fun,and pose health and safety issues within a community period.Just because you don't have laws that hold you accountable and responsible for your cats don't make it right for you to take advantage of it,which is exactly what you are doing when you come up with ignorant statements such as our state or local town we live in don't have no type of laws for cats,we have more important issues, well if it's not important to you that your neighbors protect there investments,I must question your logic as well as who you really are.Your mentality way of thinking is hindered when you devalue your neighbors by not respecting boundarys.It is in the best interest of Humans-wildlife-Cats health and safety that you control your cats,if not you become a burden to society.You will find individuals who allow there cats to roam, come up with excuses to justify there cats behavior,the truth is these people live by how they feel and this is how they make decisions,the irresponsible cat owner does not make decisions based on what is in the best interest of everyone involved, The cat controls them with the crying to go out, the owner cant take control then says oh he is so unhappy,the reality is the irresponsible cat owner is unhappy and intolerant of his own cats whining, so they let it out unsupervised,he is neglecting his own cat as well as devaluing his community.Domesticated cats do not spray for territory,Cats spray to send a signal to all other cats in the area that this is neutral ground,then they congregate,which in fact irresponsible cat owners don't understand this either because it's not happening in there yards,because Cats are extremely territorial around there own property.We will continue to have irresponsible cat owners as long as there are no national laws to hold cat owners accountable and responsible for there cats, we know if there are no consequences people don't learn nor do they care.Have you ever heard this one,You draw the predators such as the cat to your yard when you feed wildlife? well for starters domesticated cats are not a natural predator of north america's wildlifes, so now having this knowledge ... keep your pest cats in the house safe.Birds that come to feeders lack food and nesting sites due to habitat loss,therefore allowing your cat to roam contributes to the wildlifes decline and struggle to thrive and survive.Don't ever knock someone who gives back to wildlife,these people are doing good and what is right and productive,unlike the irresponsbile cat owner who could careless about the damage and defecting his cat does in his neighbors yard,it is disrespectful and should not ever be tolerated.Irresponsbile cat owner what have you done good today? I will say it again it is in the best interest of everyone involved,keep cats supervised for health and safety issues.Be responsible.

I happened on this site and enjoyed reading the comments about the direction of the food network. I too used to be a real fan of the network, but do not watch it on a regular basis. I chalked it up to m y life getting busier and TiVO, but that knew those weren't the only reasons b/c when I catch Julia or Jaques or Lidia on TV, I find myself sitting there and watching. Can't say that about the shows on the FN. I do like Giada, Ina (think b/c onf the calming nature of their shows, Giada's style and the fact that I actually do learn something and have tried and like their recipes). I also like Nigella b/c of the naughtly, yet subltle "not obvious" sensual way she has with preparing food. These 3 are my fav's b/c I actually learn something and have tried their recipes. I even like ole' martha b/c of the same reason. I am a black woman who grew up in a fairyly "boustrius" family in the bronx during the 60's and 70's. I and my family used to LOVE watching Julia Child (I commonly referred to her as "the cooking lady") on the "ups" channel 13 in NY, on a black and white t.v., grainy picture and all. How is it that "the cooking lady" could command the attention of my family and I is beyond me, but I think it had to do with her voice, precesne and the fact that we actually LEARNED something. Juslia also had a dry sense of humor and thought nothing of bringing out a blow torch, goggles and all, in a couple of the earlier episodes. I thankfully have most of her videos and watch them as my life permits. I am glad FN is reconizing the need for diversity, but the Neely's, sorry to say, are not the answer. I confess tat I only watch the episodes that feature one or more Neely men. Gina's over the top, swinging of the fake hair, need for attention attitude/behavior and screechy/baby voice drives me nuts. I don't need a FN "personality" telling me how/what to do w/my man in the kitchen...I have that covered just fine, thank you. PLEASE FOOD NETWORK, if you are reading this, LET THE NEELY MEN HAVE THEIR OWN SHOW WITH OUT GINA NEELY!!! P.S. Thanks to the "Eric08" that forwarded the link to the Tony Bourdain commentary. It cracked my up. Tony is another of my favorite chefs. Unapologetically real.
