I "peel" with a Dobie pad.....does that count?

Yes,sometimes a good abrasive scrub is all they need. Don't have Dobie Pads here, but a nice clean Scotch Brite works well.

And sometimes I peel, too.

If I grow them, I don't peel. If they come from the grocery, I peel. I don't know what the outer covering has been exposed to, and sometimes it is tough and turns an ugly brownish-orange color when cooked.

I don't peel... just a good wash under running water. I must admit that I'm not a big scrubber either.

I always peel, even with the beautiful organic ones from the farmers market. I guess those could probably just get a scrub, but not those from the grocery store. Uck, especially uck to those in the plastic bags. And I imagine if they were home grown they could go without peeling too.

I've never thought about it much, but it's not much different than not peeling little red potatoes.

I just wash the outside and scrub a bit. I never really peel.

I always peel the carrots, except for the ones that go to my little fertilizer makers, our 2 pet guinea pigs.

If I get them from the store I peel them. But if they are from our garden, I don't peel. Just give it a good rub and rinse; good enough to me.

Storebought and old carrots get peeled. Otherwise I just scrub them with a crocheted nylon net scrubbie.(I pick them up at craft fairs for a dollar....my favorite scrubbers.)

I sometimes peel but usually just scrub. I think we have different kinds of stores. The carrots in the stores here are quite nice and come in bunches not bags. They're not processed.

Plllog, the Publix here has both the bagged and the bunched, but the bunched aren't anything like those from Harry's farmers market. They're supposedly organic, etc, but they look like they were dragged in by the truck instead of riding! It's been a while since I was in Krogers so not sure about theirs.

We have some of the smaller chain stores that may do better, but they're a lot farther drive.

Farm fresh, younger, carrots get a wash and a bit of a scrub if required. Grocery store carrots get peeled.

Not a peeler. I have a soft brush I usually hit them with under running water.

I scrub the fresh local ones, but I peel the ones from the grocery store that come from a zillion miles away.

Well, really, it depends on what I'm using them for. If I'm making stock, I'll give 'em a wash, break 'em in half and toss into the pot. Carrot cake? I'll scrub well and grate but I don't bother to peel. Pretty much everything else gets peeled.

The slender, farm fresh get washed & a quick scrub. Those awful ones in the plastic bags get peeled. I use those mostly for stock.

You loose a lot of vitamins by peeling, BUT, I get the big old carrots in the bag most of the time, except when I can get farm fresh ones. I have found that the outside part of those carrots is bitter, so I peel. They've sat in my fridge long enough to loose whatever vitamins they had anyway.

I generally only scrub them, but if they have roots growing on them, I peel them. I use very few carrots anyway, and they generally only go into soup stock or lentil soup. I use them in small quantities to prevent the soup from getting too sweet. Oh, and I do use them in Vietnamese dipping sauce.

Scrub only for me! And I second those crocheted nylon scrubbies from the craft fairs. I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT THEM! Sometimes they are as cheap as $1 so buy a dozen!

Sometimes I find the peel sometimes has a bit of a bitter taste so I usually peel. But the young (or maybe a small variety) carrots that I get in the CSA box have a thin peel and taste fine with it so I don't peel them.
