Canceling everything might be for the best - unless you're desperate to get rid of it. I'm trying to recall how long ago this originally happened - it must be 6 months at least. These are really screwy people and I wouldn't want to deal with them - heck I wouldn't even want them to return to my home. You've been way more accommodating then they deserve.

If it smells bad, looks bad, sounds bad...it is bad.
Cut it off and ask them to lose your number. Something is not right with them and I wonder if they're involved in scamming people.

I also wouldn't go through with it. I don't get people.

What are you going to tell them though? I'm not good with situations like this and I'd probably just tell them I've decided to keep it for now.

pesky, I'd *definitely* call them and break it off. They're trying to mess with you. Don't let them. You'll be able to sell the pieces somewhere else. I wouldn't trust them at *all*.

If you have their phone number, I'd call them today. I'd tell them that since they didn't follow through with their agreement, you have decided not to sell them at this time.

If you don't feel comfortable, please give me their phone number and I'll call them. LOL!

Time is a precious commodity, and they've wasted more than enough of yours. Call and cancel the whole mess. If they can't manage a simple purchase without turmoil, there's plenty of reason to worry about ongoing turmoil after the sale.

They're probably just batty, but I'm a suspicious sort and wonder if there's some sort of game afoot - especially since they remember a different price than you do.

I agree- just say no deal. You dont even have to say why.

When you tell them the deal is off, I'd just say "the pottery is no longer available". I wouldn't get into any discussion of how they were flaky or anything, just "it's no longer available" and hang up. I also wouldn't take any more phone calls from them. Discussion won't lead anywhere helpful and the deal is off, so the less said, the better!

I like the way silvercomet phrased it - "No longer available" that says it all. Please call and give them that message and if by some reason they return don't even answer the door.

Oh my, where do you live? I LOVE Italian pottery...I'd love just to drool over a photo of yours, much less fondle it. lol Finances are such at our house that drool is all I can do for the next few months, but, oh, if I had the cash you could legitimately say the pottery is no longer available....

Texas, I bought a piece from Pesky's collection! She posted a few pictures awhile back and I snagged a covered casserole dish!

DH is going to call them. He figures if he calls them they'd be less likely to cause a fuss. Gotta love him. I think he forgets what I do for a living...I have to deal with contentious people. Oh well, he wants to be my knight in shining armor, so I'll let him.

Besides, it's all packed up and stored in the shed. I can't even begin to get to it right now! I did hang one of the large platters above my mantel, and I kept a smaller casserole in my kitchen. Someday I might give it to one of the girls. All I know is these flakes aren't getting it!

First, you need to get the collection out and post pictures just for us in case we want to buy some, and you'd make some Christmas money! lol.

Secondly, I'd tell them there's another person wanting to buy it all, full cash payment.

I'm afraid if you tell them it's unavailable and they know you're address, you may be asking for trouble since they seem kind of off anyway.

So I'd say come Saturday with the FULL amount and haul it all off, or it's sold to someone else. If they take you up on it, make yourself available and be done with it. And make sure dh is home with you.

I also would say to tell them that someone else is interested in it for more money & they have 24 hours to produce either the same amount or more.. I might get a fake bidding war going; I'm sure someone here would vouch that we're interested.

I would not bring them the pottery; I would not accept any payment that was not cash.

Something is not right with these people - I don't know what kind of a scam they're pulling but it sure smells fishy.

I would just tell them that they waited too long and it's gone now. You don't have to say where it went, just that it's gone.

I like "no longer available," too. If they press, you can tell them that unbeknownst to you, it was sold. IDK, they sound totally hinky. Protect yourself.

I know you're going through a lot right now, pesky, but what happened on this front? You are sure in line for a *set* of massages, IMO!

DH talked to the wife and told her that things were just a little too weird and we didn't want to deal with it. He mentioned the difference in what was owed, and she said that her husband was on medication and probably got confused. She also said that if I changed my mind, they were still interested.

I'd have dealt with it a bit differently, I tend to be direct, but it's dealt with now. I don't forsee a problem, fortunately!

Now we're dealing with the next thing...the creep who stole our guns is in jail and charged with four felonies so far. We had to push to get him charged with those, another long story, but we're getting justice! YAY!!
