Okay here are pics of living room again

Okay how does this look? I don't have all the "stuff" around but wondered what you thought of the furniture...?? And if it works this way I can put my library table behind the sofa and use it for pics....but I gotta see opinions here or what different would you do? Remember i don't have a choice on my tv...one day going to have dtv come and give me several different outlets in the living room so I can move it....Stacy

(opps as you can see I just moved all stuff to the other end of the living room out of the way)

Also need to redo shelves and take some more of the Christmas stuff down....

I like that. It makes a sitting/conversation area separate from the entryway area. I also think the library table would look great behind the sofa. You could also put some plants on top of the table too, if it's near a window....

Thanks jasdip.....if I could move that table by myself I could get this all done before everyone gets home an sees the mess I have made LOL....Stacy

Hi, Thank you all! I found these in a bucket of odds and ends that had gotten wet. They had no rust tho. I'm not really sure what they are made of. I think it is metal.They are a little heavy but not too heavy. The end of each "petal" has a tiny hole in it. I thought maybe they were the tops to windchimes. Looks like you could thread something through it. I got them for a quarter a piece. I was so excited! Door isn't finished yet. I think i need to add something to the top where the hole is,maybe some type of vine wreath or maybe try and set a small pot of flowers, and also need to put centers in the flowers. Can't wait to go "shopping" again! Take care all and thank you all again. ~Ellie~

I would leave the walls white. Since you are on a budget my advice would be to edit your furnishings down and rearranging the stuff you have. If this was my space: I would move the dining room table out from the wall. It looks like you have enough space to float it in the dining room. You aren't using the woodstove at the moment right. Does the high chair fit into the space between the woodstove and wall? If so I would store the chair there. Put a pretty washable tablecloth on the table. Ebay has some great/cheap vintage ones. Then add a mason jar or large jar full of wildflowers on the table. Could you move the cabinet with the bread drawer out of the kitchen and put it in between the door and window where the dining table was? Would there be enough space? If so I would then ask dh to help me put up some basic white shelves in that space for storage. Move the garbage can back and that white rectangle (is that a fridge?) underneath. Reorganizing and decluttering the kitchen would really open that space up making it more functional. You could store the pantry type items in the cabinets and move your dishes out where they could be seen on the shelves for a clean modern country look. Where does that door lead in the living room? Is there anyplace you could move that wonderful china cabinet. I would move it to another room or upstair's and use it in a new way. Storing linen in a hallway or craft/office supplies in a rooom, etc. Store the china in the cabinet in the hutch that used to be in the kitchen that is now in the dining room. I think the idea of using quilts is a brillant one and I would put it in the area where the china cabinet was. Take the frames off the walls and repurpose the small bookcase and table in the middle of the room into other rooms. Again not sure of proportions but I would move the couch where the love seat is and the love seat where the recliner is and the recliner by the window where the couch was. Adding lots of large basics for toys and clutter. You have a lovely home. Can't wait to see what you do.

Essenzza ignore issues of taste and home clutter. There is not one taste or one type of good style, and home decoration should be the artful arrangement of the ideas and functions YOU want in your home. The issue I find, with family photos, is that small framed ones wash out when viewed from far away, and there is a limit to how many large family photos you want displayed prominently in your home and where. My husband, god bless him, insists on large family photos on the shelving unit across from our bed in our small bedroom. His family is constantly staring at me! He finds it comforting, I find it a little less than restful. But I can live with it. So that's an example. I'd feel the same way about a large family photo in a living room or family room over a fireplace. It's just too much like "The Smith's survey the room!" On the other hand, slightly smaller in a less prominent space surrounded by some more casual shots, it might be "Remember those happy times when we were all together!" But anyway, I think you are talking about a collection of smaller photos. The issue with those is you can't really see them unless you can get up close to them, which is why I would not put them on either side of the TV. Given that parameter, I would put up a display shelf under the "Eat" sign in the dining room. Then I would either put the stuff on the dining room credenza on the shelf and put a collection of family photos in a mixture of nice frames on the credenza, OR put the family photo mixture on the shelf. I have seen both done well in dining room inspiration photos which you could probably find by googling "dining room family photos arrangement on shelf" or some such thing or by searching Houzz photos. That way people can stand up close to the photos and look at them if they want, and yet the montage still looks good from a distance. Again, I would shoot for more casual photos, not a dominant set of people staring straight ahead. I have a two-photo frame with a picture of both my grandmothers staring straight ahead on a credenza in my dining room, along with my tea set in an arrangement. That level of personal display is not overwhelming and doesn't dominate the look of the room and they are accompanied by other decorative elements so their steely gaze is softened by that somewhat! :)

I like what you did. The chair by the FP looks cozy. The loveseat looks better by itself in front of the window. The couch defines the space. The console table behind it would look great. Is there enough room? Then since you say you must keep the little oak desk in the room, can you move it to the corner where the console site now? Its hard to judge the dimension from just pics. Maybe put the potted plant in that corner? Pull the two vintage wood crates froward and have them sit at the side of the couch to use as an end table. Or maybe find an unused/underused one from some where in the house. You want at least one little one by the couch for setting drinks and things on.

The room is looking great.I think you will enjoy the new arrangment.

Could the sofa be set more at a right angle to the loveseat? And then that beautiful chair pulled nearer the deer head? Then, place the TV flat on the wall (where it is now - sorta right under that window). That way, anyone, sitting anywhere, could see the TV. As it is now, it seems like anyone on the loveseat couldn't.

You could use one of the end tables between the sofa and loveseat (in that right-angle corner) and the other set to the right of the pulled out and over chair.

Would you still have room to use the table behind the sofa if you placed the furniture like this? Love the red color on the walls, and the leather furniture is beautiful.

Hmm will have to think these new ideas thru in the morning. Rightnow I have the library table behind the sofa it looks great there....thanks again every one....

I like the arrangement and think the furniture looks great. My only suggestion is that the wall color and carpet color are so similar that I would add an area rug to break it up a little bit. I am thinking something mostly blue with a little of the red in it.

LOL NK...I hate this carpet....I do have a big rug on it I just hadn't put it down yet....one day this carpet will wear out and I can justify getting rid of it.....Stacy

Love it, too but I agree that the carpet, furniture and walls all blend in together. I'd love to see your furniture stand out more. I'd change the wall color (it's the cheapest and easiest to do). Maybe a softer tan color. Actually there is a color called Softer Tan that is very pretty. I have it in my Bonus Room and the hallways upstairs. It's pretty neutral yet has color. I'd stay away from the reds, blues and greens with your carpet color. Love your furniture... that's why I would like to see it stand out more.
