Oh bless her heart. What a big littler for her. Sexing them is a problem for you? I can say that for kittens, but on a puppy, it's easy.

Liz-We had a little Daschund/Beagle mix that had a false pregnancy.She got a big tummy,had labor,milk and everything,just no puppies.She found a little squeaky frog that was one of the kids toys and carried it around.She would lay down and curl her body around it,just like it was a puppy.It was strange and really sad.When she finally did have puppies she was such a good mother.I never knew dogs could have false pregnancies until that happened.

one can(sweetened condensed) milk,
with equal parts water and two egg yolks.

I pulled that off a whelping site I was on recently...what a treat for Mom!!

Yes...I KNOW male vs female anatomy but, as I said, my confidence level, until now, anyway, is low. With yous' guys's help I can do this, I know. It's not that I don't think I can do this. It's just I have over half sold and I would hate to screw up and sell a girl to someone if it's really a boy. SUCH PRESSURE!!!

She is going to need a lot of supplement with this batch.
The second we took the dog away from Gabby I started her on puppy chow and have for each litter of puppies. This is her biggest litter by far so I'll have to do some boosting of her diet. THis morning I put some canned milk over her puppy chow. I didn't want to give her pastuerized 2% in case it upset her tummy and gave her diarrhea. The last thing we need is a dehydrated mama! She has lots of milk but with seven working on her all the time it's bound to drain her. I wormed her just before her heat cycle and will again in a few weeks when the puppies are doing fine.

I had four of the puppies sold before she even came into season. A little boy named Sam will buy the fifth puppy. He got one from Gabby's last batch but it got sick and died. All he wanted was new hairy puppy for Christmas. This will be the third dog this family has bought from us. The mother pays me in Mary Kay product. Is that a deal or what!
That leaves two more to place and with all the inquries we've had I know we can sell them all. I have a very strict puppy placement program; not just anyone can get one. With the exception of Sam's puppy (a big dog snapped at the puppy and punctured a lung) all are still living and I see the owners regularly.

I haven't picked any of the puppies up except to make sure they were all close to Gabby and were warm. She is, at least, allowing me to put a rug under her. The poor things were born in the coldest possible part of the house last night and it was fifteen below! Even though Gabby is gentle and trusts me I'd hate for her to alienate a puppy because we handled them too much.

Oh Congratulations! What a good Mama Gabby is. Just look at that tired face. I remember as a kid when our dog had pups, just how hard she worked to take care of them. When the last pup was gone she searched the entire house for them, then when she was satisfied that they were not anywhere she lay down and slept for two days! It is so amazing to watch them. Have fun with them. They look so cute!

I waiver between letting our girl get knocked up or not..but since I'm not in ranching territory...it would be hard to have them placed as working dogs..and Aussie/BCollies need to work..that I now know! So she's 6 and still intact..probably should make that decision soon! It's a pain to clean up during her heat! And she's a wacko at times!

Congratulations to you gramma and to Mama Gabby. Those pups are so adorable. Gabby looks like a happy lady. Oh shoot, I wish I could be there to see them in person.

Momma has beautiful eyes!

Our Chihuahua had puppies on the 11th (6 of them - One boy - the rest girls...) I have four spoken for. I made the decision to only sell them to senior citizens for $25 which is the cost of the puppyy shots... Our seniors need a small animal - these will get to be around 8 - 9 pounds - small enough to be picked up easily and my puppies will have a constant companion and they will both love each other unconditionally. It is really easy to tell the difference in the males and female dogs - look for the little "pickle" by his belly button. I have another week to go before we can tell if any of them will be long haired - it doesn't come out right away and dad is a long-haired... Mine are just now starting to walk around - so cute...

Five have pickles and two do not.
One pickle is a little displaced...down on the belly farther than the rest but a pickle nonetheless. I MUST try this sexing method on calves!

I will look closer at them tomorrow.
There's so many of them I need someone to hold who has been pickled and who has not been pickled....LOL

Gabby has been outside a total of two minutes today.
I'm on my way to send her out for minute number three then I'm off to bed.

Achmed goes to the backporch door and barks.
She hasn't the nerve to go any farther but she barks, hysterically. So far Gabby has ignored her. I put up the baby gate to give Achmed a head start when Gabby decides she has had enough.
