Yep. I like them cold (well chilled) better than heated.

I also like Van Camps best. If eaten as is (nothing added), like WildChild, I like cold.

DH doctors them up with barbecue sauce, yellow mustard, bacon and maple syrup for the bestest barbecue baked beans I've ever had.

I prefer Bush's beans, but really like them made into the calico bean dish, with a variety of beans and barbecue sauce, etc.

I like Bush's bean, too. I especially like the maple-flavored kind. We don't eat them often though.

No, I don't ever eat "pork n beans".. We always make our own baked beans, but then Bush's came along and I like those quite a lot... so those are the only ones we use now.

Yes,love them but don't eat them much anymore.I prefer to add some brown sugar and bake them in the over but will also eat them straight from the can.

I never eat just Bush's beans out of the can so to speak. If I use them they get brown sugar, bacon, onion and ketchup and a dab of mustard added to them. To me they are not pork and beans in a can as they have other things in the can.

This post brought up memories of my Dad. He liked to spread margarine on a slice of bread, and top it with cold pork n beans. I'd forgotten about that.

I don't eat them very often any more, so just buy a few cans from Aldi's when I want them. When I had them more often, I too liked Van Camps.

We like campbells, pork & beans. I add some brown sugar, catsup, onion and sometimes green pepper then throw in some hotdogs and bake for about 45 min.

I think the brand I like best is Heinz. I tried the other brands mentioned above when they came to Canada, but never liked them. Home made is the best. I like to put raw finely diced onions in my heated baked beans.

When I was younger we used to make baked beans quite a bit out of vancamps and they were really good havent made them in a long time though. My husband eats them right out of the can cold of room temperature. In fact he had some for supper tonight. He only eats VanCamps though.

When I started to the country school and had to take a lunch, I told my DM to make me pork & bean sandwiches. I think she made them of tuna fish instead.

I still "doctor" the canned ones up for cook outs, but do not use them as an indoor side amymore.

They surely have endured in American stores.

Well, I like beans, but prefer home-cooked.

No baked beans for me, either home made or doctored from a can, LOL. Most people like slightly spicy, but very sweet baked beans. Nope, I will never eat them.

The DH will occasionally heat up Van Camps pork and beans with a bit of mustard and serve them over buttered toast for lunch.

I love "Bushes" baked beans...I add diced cooked onions and American cheese.....Beans are an excellent protein food...we love them!!!!

We like Bushes, country style, when I want them for a side dish. When I make Calico beans, I used the most inexpensive prk & beans because I add 3 other kinds of beans, bacon and hamb, plus a lot of other stuff. I just LOVE Calico beans, and really pig out when I make it. Shame, shame.

It's interesting how one asks a question about a simple product and gets so many varied answers.

When I see pork and beans written I picture a can labeled Pork and Beans.

Once something is added to them they are no longer pork and bean to my way of thinking.

I went to the Bush website to see if they even had anything labeled Pork and Beans. They did not although they carry a huge variety of bean products including chili.

They become a bean dish or baked beans. Pork and Beans are not Baked Beans,canned or not, in my world. Perhaps in some regions they are but not in mine.

I loved them as a kid and still like them right out of the can.

here in the UK they eat them for breakfast or warmed up and served on toast as a meal. Typical "English fry up breakfast" is toast, bacon or sausage, egg, beans, fried tomato, mushrooms and sometimes black pudding.

I prefer good old (American) pancakes with lots of syrup!!

Back in the days when plain old pork and beans were the only option, I used to add ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, and onion to them, when I served them, which was very rarely. Once Bushes Best Beans were introduced, I didn't feel like I had to add all that any more, as they were already pretty tasty. I still fix beans only rarely, usually with grilled hamburgers or hot dogs (hot dogs are something else I fix rarely, not really a fan of them). I also keep some of the Bushes Best or Bushes Grillin' beans out at the camp and we've opened a can there and ate with potato chips as an entire workday lunch. The Grillin' beans are good and come in a variety of flavors.

Yes, love them, especially with crushed up potato chips in them. I use to do this as a kid for an afternoon snack and still love it to this day. LOL.
But, I must say I have never met a bean(legume) or pea I have not loved. I like them best and they like me best too, as they certainly have a way of staying on my hips!

Van de Camps here but I slow cook them on low for about 4 hours after I've added a pound of ground beef, green peppers, sweet onions and dry mustard. They are a meal in itself.

I make my beans very similar to what you do, I also add brown sugar, ketchup and a dash of worcestershire sauce.
As a child, a friend of my mothers made this when we visited them in Florida. I talked about those beans for years...when I was married my mother mailed her the cookbook that friends and family put together for me and she added her "Texas Baked Beans"
This is my standard dish I take to summer picnics.
I can't eat a can of beans without doctoring them!
