'His health has suffered and he is not doing well there. 'Joran blames the food and the water, he says that he is depressed and feeling weak all the time.'

This is in apparent contrast to what critics, including the dead girl's family, called his "royal treatment" at the Castro Castro prison where he spent a year and a half after Flores corpse was found in his Lima hotel room.

While at the Castro Castro, van der Sloot made a steady stream of headlines world wide for everything from drug sales and purchases to mugging with other accused murderers. He was even accused of fathering a child during conjugal visits...a claim that was never proven.

His new prison is a maximum security lockup but there may be an even harsher prison in his future. Van der Sloot has expressed concern he could be transferred to the notorious Challapalca Prison, in Tacna, southern Peru.

This is what's wrong with an employer driven health care system. Wouldn't it be nice to know that if you were fired, you'd still be getting the same insurance for the same amount of money you were already paying? Obviously, the people who are afraid of universal health care are the ones that don't have anyone in their own family who are ill and don't understand the implications of what happens when an illness strikes. My daughter has diabetes and because of that, now has gastroperisis. Her husband left her and quit his job. So, I am paying for her Cobra although I am now earning 1/2 of what I used to due to the economy which is barely above minimum in some states. How are people supposed to survive? What if she didn't have me to help her out? She already used up her lifetime 5 bottle supply of free insulin. I didn't mean to hijack this thread but this makes me so angry, especially when so many people are uninformed and so insensitive.

I've been with the same doc for almost 18 years and I would hate to have to switch to another. If I call last minute, either he squeezes me in, or I see his partner who is equally great. I worked for a multi doc practice for a few years and I was disgusted at some of what I saw. It was all about the money with them. None of these docs would "go the extra mile" for the patients. There was no come into my office today, I'll see you tomorrow, etc. This company had a contract with a walk in clinic down the street and the knee jerk reaction of all the receptionists and doctors was " go to the clinic." This clinic was very busy and between the emergencies was alot of primary care things...med refills that could have been done over the phone, routine bloodwork,blood pressure checks, etc. One doc actually had the gall to send a patient that was in his office to the clinic to be evaluated for abdominal pain! His excuse...I'm too busy today to order the bloodwork and xrays! Then if a patient was severe enough that they had to go to the ER, the pcp would call and yell at the clinic docs because they would have to round on the patient at the local hospital! It was a real eye opener. Alot of the patients would say that they felt the clinic docs were their pcps. In 18 years, my doc had given me 1 outside referral and that was for surgery. Sorry for the rant but I was happy to get out of that job and am forever grateful to my doc for the wonderful job that he does.

If she has a minimal income (which albeit has to be significantly minumal for a single person) she should be able to get medicaid. I would tell her though that that is not a pleasant process. My experiance (when I first had my daughter and needed it) was not a pleasant one. The people are mean and well downright awful and their first response is NO. I went in knowing exactly what I qualified for and didn't except no for an answer. I already knew what forms to fill out so when they told me I had to do certain things (which basically just make you life more difficult and are not a requirement) I told them flat out No, I don't have to do that I only need to fill out this this and this. Visit your state resource to find out the income requirements and such in your specific state. They are different for each. Also - I happen to find this as well In the US, there are a few alternatives that you may want to investigate. The first is Medicaid, if you financially qualify. If your income level is over the Medicaid limit, you may still qualify for Medicaid by using a spend down equation (usually the amount of income you receive over and above their income guidelines). To become eligible for Medicaid your allowable medical expenses must be more than your spend down amount. Expenses for medical care that may be considered in this equation include care from hospitals, doctors, clinics, dentists, drugs, medical supplies and equipment, health insurance premiums, transportation to get medical care, personal assistance services, and adult home help services that are related to your medical care. raee, you and everyone else are entitled to have your own Private feelings and beliefs. Also, to have no beliefs. The key word for me is Private. Only some Christian denominations think it's their right to incessantly express their beliefs publicly and impose them on others. That was what I was referring to. When such expressions find their way into the general public, people are justified in speaking up to refute them. I saw a letter too and I was horrified to see such language in a business communication going to what I'll assume to be an diverse employee base that must include thousands of people not sharing the owners' beliefs and indeed thousands with no beliefs at all. Unless they have discriminatory hiring practices focused on hiring like minded people, which I wouldn't be surprised to learn about. Professing having received a direct communication from a deity of any kind is not something most people will find to be possible, likely or true. But these folks talk that way too. So in their faith, I guess one can make up whatever they want, say it's something other than it is, and people believe it?

I hope he is more scared than Natalee and Flores were when he took their lives. I hope he cries more tears than both their families have. And I hope that he never breathes another breath as a free man.

What? We're supposed to pity him because the food is bad? At least he gets three meals a day. Aw, he's depressed? How does he think Natalie Holloway's parents feel? I hope he gets the worst prison in Peru. Who cares how HE feels? Now I know why I'm for the death penalty!

When Van der Snot opens his mouth he is full of lies. He makes me ill. Let him rot. Am I harsh? Was he harsh? Eye for an eye. Don't dare anyone come back with any bleeding heart crying poor Van der Snot to me...he wrecked two families...and killed two young ladies...heartless thug.

I've always been in favor of the death penalty, too, but when I really think about it, I think putting creeps like him to death is too good for them.

Look at it this way -- it costs the taxpayers in the United States a fortune to keep someone on death row until their ultimate execution. The constant legal appeals, hearings, court appearances involve attorneys, paid for at taxpayers' expense. Extra guards, at taxpayers' expense, to keep watch to make sure they don't commit suicide. Etc., etc., etc.

It would be much less expensive to keep them imprisoned for life, without any possibility of parole. Not much of an opportunity to file appeals forever and ever and on and on. Keep them in the general population where they can become another prisoner's *itch and get into fights and beaten up regularly. Let 'em suffer. And let them know, as Lynn D said, that they'll never breathe another breath as a free man.

Oh, and regular torture treatments by the guards would be ok, too. :-)

He didn't seem to give a damn what those 2 girls "felt" before he killed them. No one cares what he's "feeling" now. Rot in hell, I say!!

I'm betting there are more than two young women have been killed by him. We just don't know about any others.

And if his daddy's money hadn't continued to keep him out of prison there probably would have been more.

I sure hope they don't cave into his bawl baby crying.
