how to remove odor from Rubbermaid container?
Comments (10)Thanks everyone! I put a large crumpling of newspaper in there and left it for the past three weeks or so. I just removed the paper tonight, and I'd say 80-90% of the odor was literally transferred into the newspaper. It was pretty cool. But the odor is still slightly detectable in the container. So I might try throwing some coffee in there since I have an old packet of unused grounds that I won't be using to drink......See MoreRemove Perspiration Odor from Clothes
Comments (33)I don't know if it's true, but I heard Tide and Borax had the same detergent-boosting compound. Regardless, I react badly to both. I have a lot of allergies and sensitivities. I'm trying Oxy-Clean. It got most of the odor out of an impossible nylon/spandex blend. If it doesn't make me itch I'll use it on all my problem clothing. A word of advice: if you plan to try a new combination of chemicals, try it first on a single garment you can afford to lose. And someone said it but it bears repeating; never mix chlorine bleach with anything but plain old detergent. It could kill you....See MoreO.T.- how to remove ink from inside of dryer?
Comments (12)The alcohol is why hair spray works on many (but not all) inks. But it evaporates very quickly, so it can be hard to get enough to remove rather than spread the ink. The hand sanitizer is the same principle -- never tried it and not sure if I would have thought of it, but great idea to keep in mind for the future. I would experiment with different solvents in the dryer to see what works on the ink before trying the clothing since you are more likely to do damage on the fabric and dyes in the clothing than a metal drum -- but do be careful to avoid any rubber or plastic parts as much as possible -- just in case. If some of them have ink, work on them after knowing what works and tread lightly. Same with the fabric. The dryer drum isn't as porous as the fabric, so the fabric could be more difficult to remove the ink without damage. Do carefully clean the dryer and let any solvent completely evaporate or be washed off before running the dryer. GooGone, Acetone and alcohol are all flammable. Mine was a red crayon in a load of whites. Got it out of everything but the white socks. The knitted texture of socks makes them so much harder to get everything out....See MoreAnyone know how to remove stains from fireslate?
