Honest kids and the things they say

So my two are at the breakfast table this morning and the older one says to his brother; "Hey Evan, if you were stranded on a deserted island, who would you want with you?" I piped up, in all my mom glory (and silliness), and said "His mother of course". To which my youngest stated "I love you mom, but I think I would rather be stranded with Indiana Jones."

What a little stinker face!!

We're constantly on Jacob(4) to be less rough with Tyler(18 months).

Last night, we hear both boys upstairs. I wander up there and find them both in Tyler's crib. I sit in the rocking chair and watch them laughing and playing. When DH walked in, Jacob said "I'm sorry Daddy. I'm sorry Mommy." Of course, we asked why. "I'm sorry for picking up Tyler by his head to pull him into the crib"

I read this on the internet the other day. A mom was having trouble potty training her soon to be 3 yo. son and they had made a quick stop at a Taco Bell for lunch when the mom detected an odor. She first checked her baby and it's diaper was fine so she asked the boy if he had had an accident and the boy said no. She continued to eat and kept smelling poop and asked him again if he had an accident and he again said no. She began to get angry as she did not have a change of clothes for him and asked again if he had an accident and the boy got up, pulled his pants down, pointed his butt at his mom, and said see, no poop, it's farts, it's just farts! For many years I tried to get Morning Glories to grow up a trellis that my husband put around our LP tank- never did have any luck with them so when my 4 year old (at the time) asked to help plant flowers I gave him a bunch of morning glory seeds to have for the garden- we had morning glories everywhere that year- When I asked him what he did to make them grow he says "nothing- i just stuck 'em in the dirt and left them alone". Now he plants morning glories in that bed every year and has named it his TURTLE GARDEN- he collects turtle figures all the time and even has our friends and family looking for new ones for him- his Granny got him 2 new ones for christmas this past year and he loved it. He is 7 now with over 50 turtles and still planting his "mornin glornies" as he calls them and I hope he keeps this up for many more years.

I think the original poster sounded too upset to be making it up, not to mention the fact that she provided a lot of details that she probably wouldn't have bothered with had the story been false." TOS, as the original poster provided so many details (but missing the critical ones like the VISITORS?LIST on the VISITORS?ALLOWED MODULE) I don't think she would have forgotten to mention how many years her SM was in Jail for murdering her first husband or if she was convicted or even put to trial for it...She would have relished telling it. Anyway, details are not a guarantee of truth: as any mother or kindergarten teacher knows, the more elaborate the story, the more blatant the lie.

Mattie I have no clue what bm has done with her past dogs and cats she gets everytime her and her bf get their own place. I do feel sorry for those pets though. I almost think that people should go through some kind of adoption process when getting a pet! Too many people do not have stable living situations or the money to properly take care of pets but they get them anyways. Then they ruin that pets life just like you said. LH the kids don't know what to think about the party. Older sd just rolls her eyes at bm's promises, middle sd has times where she does the same and other times she gets excited and then let down. SS is going through the believe all bm says and then get let down phase. It is sad to see, but we can't shelter them from it all unfortunately. The welfare system makes me so mad! I really think that if you need welfare then you should have some guidelines to follow such as: -no pets -no brand new vehicles -monthly drug testing -a time limit on being on welfare It really makes me mad when I see people on welfare walking around in their brand name clothes, with their highlighted hair and carrying Coach purses. I just want to grab their link card out of their hand and tell them they could pay for their groceries if they stopped spending their money on the extras in life. Sometimes I wish I could just sit outside bm's places as she moves and leaves behind all kinds of new items they can't bring with them. Moving from state to state all the time I know they don't bring everything with. Such a waste!

Too cute!

When DS was about 4, I had just made some chocolates and they were on the counter. I caught DS with his face covered in chocolate. I gasped and asked "How many of those did you eat?!" He answered:

One... (long pause) at a time.

It IS scary that Jacob picks Tyler up by his head and neck. It's an impulse control thing. His head is right at Jacob's arm height. Like I said, we are working with him on this quite a bit. That's why he knew it was important to be honest about it :) He still got in trouble, and we've had no head incidents today.

When my youngest son was 4 or 5 yrs old, one day at the dinner table, he blurted out, "I know why there are two parents!" We exchanged glances and thought, "So soon. What do we say?" My son went on to explain, "Its because if I am hungry and one of you are busy, the other one can feed me."

That very logical statement gave us a sigh of relief, and at the same time, defined our station in the family unit. It deflated any grandiose thoughts that we might have entertained about being a minor Deity to him.

He's almost 30 years old now, but I still vividly
remember the embarrassment in church when at 3-4 years old stood on the pew just far enough away that I could not reach him...when I finally could get his attention asking him to "get down", he began to dance frantically, upon being asked, why he had acted like that, he replied, "but mommy, you told me to get down".....

When our son was about 4 we had a couple of gold fish. He came home from preschool one morning and I told him that Goldie had died and had gone to
