Remember Matt & Shari?

They used to be on the decorating/home projects show "Room by Room" on HGTV. I really liked the show & them. I don't know how long it has been since they were last on HGTV, but it seems like a long time.

Well I just watched them on PBS! Their new show is called "Around the House" and they also have a website.

They are on every Sat. here.

Here is a link that might be useful: Check & see if your local PBS station carries the new show:

Is anyone watching 'Around the House' with Matt & Shari?

Thanks for sharing. I used to watch their original show a long time ago and then with everything I watch I get bored and move on to something else. Doesn't look like it airs in my area from their website. Hoping it will get picked up. What I liked about their show was how they showed how to do things. All current shows that are on all seem to just show the before and after and not the steps to get to a good quality end results. Which if you look at their zoom-ups of the current shows just seems to show a gob of paint or paint brush streaks etc. I miss shows that have the how-to's of doing things in a quality fashion and gave some ideas as well on decorating. I do like eye candy of before and after, but I don't actually watch the show I just glance at the screen shots here and there if the TV is tuned to those shows.

New Matt & Shari HGTV Show

Well, the reason why their shows seem to be shown again and again is because there's only a limited number of episodes available to be shown - there haven't been any new episodes made for a few years, so they're kinda stuck with either rerunning the old ones or taking it off the air entirely. And I'll take corny any day over the pretentious, fake, self-impressed, GIGGLING bobbleheads that are infesting the airwaves these days. (The much-lauded Candace Olsen is just as corny, IMO, with even more un-funny jokes and far too much of the "one trick pony" schtick. Yes, recessed lighting and silk, we get it, now find something else to ram up our noses again and again and AGAIN and AGAIN!) Although I do have to giggle that M&S are "corny" and Christopher Lowell isn't? :-)

Matte or glossy backsplash tile? Have matte finish Corian counter

I had the same question - we have glossy granite and I decided to go with matte tiles, and people said it gives a good contrast similar to matte soapstone with glossy tile. It's really a matter of preference I think. Matte has a much more "quiet" look so if you like that, go for it. I think if you're doing a herringbone design it may look better with glossy tile. I can't remember who did it...I believe Mamadadapaige has a herringbone design with really nice glossy tile. I THINK she has matte soapstone.

Thanks for letting us know. It's just after 5 PM here in central NJ, and I went to see if Matt & Shari would be on our cable stations. My husband is watching HOMETIME, and guess what - the next program - at 5:30 is Matt & Shari's - on this very station-WNJT!! I used to love their old show.

Not showing here either.

I wish there were a lot more of those shows that would come back.

One I think her name might have been Lynn...(I horrible about remembering names) that I really liked.

I like the old Martha Stewert that was on HGTV too.

And then there were the crafting shows that were on HGTV...

I remember when we first got cable years ago...I told them if they didn't have HGTV that I didn't want them, I go to a different cable supplier to get what I wanted.

Now I barely watch it. All they do now is the cold modern , nothing warm and inviting. Not everybody likes that. They should run half and half. And watch the ratings. I think they'd be surprised.

Patti, I sure agree with you. When we changed cable companies I wanted to make sure they had HGTV, too. Now HGTV has changed so much I hardly watch it anymore. They need to bring back some of the old shows.

Follow up - saw show #104 - the theme was 'wraps'. Lots of talking - Matt was discussing 'wrapping up the house' - insulation and other money saving ideas. Shari showed how to make a wrap around a pillow. Not as dynamic as their "Room by Room". Hope it improves.

I do remember them, and liked them, I'll have to check to see if we get them on PBS. I used to like the gal, Carol, I think her name was who did crafts. Yeah, HGTV isn't very good any more, and that goes for a bunch of stations. My theory is, they keep getting younger people in charge of programing and this stuff we used to like, is "old fashion", and away it goes, and in comes (what they think of) newer and hipper programing. Again, just MY theory.

Carol Duval is her name and they took her off years ago - first said she had retired - then admitted she attracted the wrong "age" of people... I quit watching HGTV also. I remember watching Carol on the Home show , before she was on Nashville network and HGTV... Too bad.

Thank you Bee. I'll have to check it out. I always enjoyed watching those two work together and wondered what ever happened to them. They had very good taste I thought.

Not on here either, I really miss the old HGTV! I can't remember the last time I watched it and like many of those already posted, it was something we looked for when selecting a satellite company. Sadly, Food TV is heading down the same road for me.

Not gonna be on here either.I used to watch HGTV all the time,now---mot so much.Everything they seem to do these days are for the rich set out there.Multi million dollar homes, how many of us can afford those or even think of it.Besides i don't find them very comfy looking.

I also liked Lynette Jennings and Christopher Lowell on the discovery channel(i think). We no longer get Martha Stewart,or any quilting shows at all,and i live in a city, not out in the boonies somewhere,no offense meant to anyone!!

It's totally a real estate show station. Some of it's okay, like the curb appeal shows, and the staging shows, but some of those clients that are so rude and so picky--geez!! You get what you pay for!

Kathi, do you get BYU? They have Fon & Porter quilting show on M thru F @ 11 a.m. & 6 or so p.m. (eastern time) & some other crafting shows. We get it on DirecTv satellite. RFD tv has Eleanor Burns on every Wed @ 2:30 pm & 1230 am (eastern). I also catch some quilting & crafting shows on some of the various PBS channels we get.

I agree that HGTV is almost all about real estate anymore. I rarely watch that channel, & it used to be my fave.
