4'x4' corner pantry - shelving options? anyone have pics?
Comments (2)We just built a home and have a 4'x4' corner pantry (inside dimension on the back walls) The walls coming to the door are around 2' We used 20'' deep shelving (the Rubbermaid pantry kit from Lowes) on one of the 4' walls, the other wall we are planning to do the slide out wire drawers (once the DH gets around to installing those!) I put appliances that I don't have room for on the floor under the shelves. We have 9' ceilings and could use another shelf toward the top for other items that are not used frequently. I feel like it is an ok amount of space with only one set of shelves but once we get the baskets up that will open most of the bottom shelf so it will have a lot more room. I also have shelving for overflow and extra storage in the basement, but I guess it kind of depends on how much food you like to keep around! Here are some pictures but it is difficult to take them with the angle of the door....See MoreBig pantry/smaller pull-out pantry distances
Comments (1)It really depends on how you work and whether you have room in the main working part of the kitchen for some of your food items. I had a kitchen with a pantry across a wide aisle from the kitchen itself. There was little cabinetry in the kitchen itself -- more dish storage and such across from the breakfast nook so everything, including a little of this spice or that had to come from the pantry. And it was about 7 or 8 feet deep with narrow shelves on one side. I loved the kitchen when we bought the house and couldn't stand to work in it by the time we left. My corner pantry in this house was an improvement in location, but not organization. I changed it to pantry cabinets with rollouts and a pullout that are actually a bit further form my main work areas (a few steps), but I also use some of the space in my main work area for flour, sugar and other baking supplies in deep drawers, my spices in a top shallow drawer and oils, vinegars and such right at hand above. I don't have to make as many trips to the pantry as I did before and it's not as far. For me, this is working out best of all. I can see either of your design choices working out well, but you need to thing about the type of cooking you do, how you work and how you would use the space -- what you would store in each cabinet and drawer. It's a pain to break everything down that much, but it's necessary to see how it all works for you....See MoreBig walk in pantry layout
Comments (3)Catt, I'm sorry, I don't get what you mean? If we have the space for a big pantry, make it smaller? Make the pantry smaller and the kitchen bigger is that what you mean? The wall can't be removed. We've talked about adding another fridge in the pantry, but not sure if that will happen. We had another in the basement and all we had in it was a 12 pack of pop, an extra gallon of milk and containers of worms for fishing. The chest freezer does drive me nuts for those reasons..but that's what we have for now for extra frozen things that don't fit in the fridge freezer in the kitchen. We need some countertop in there. We don't have the space in the kitchen for some of what we need to..and it's really not fun to fry fish on big skillets outside on the back deck in the snow.. I prefer to have at least those cabinets in there-it doesn't have to be floor to ceiling cabinets, but I like to have some things closed away so it doesn't look so chaotic....See MoreKitchen Reno Corner Pantry Help
Comments (23)I had a couple thoughts, 1. not sure why if you should do 2 tone cabinets in here, and if you do I would put the darker on the lowers not the uppers 2. you could do glass front cabinets on that wall instead of open shelves, and frame the window with a faux shade like seagrass or put narrow glass fronts above the sink....See MoreBuehl
